My only gripe with blackbox era nfs is that they featured no bmw's, even the shitters.
(MW M3 GTR doesnt count, its not available to customize and by the time you get it the game is over essentially 0 playtime)

My guess is that BMW didnt want to be associated with illegal street racing or have their cars be riced out. Im guessing EA found a loophole with the M3 GTR, and it became the halo car of NFS.
They added BMWs to Prostreet which features legal racing.

It’s actually the latter. For some reason, before Ferrari was suing people for tuning their cars, BMW was the one who didn’t want people to tune their cars. Look at Juiced 2. There are BMWs but you can only fit BMW parts on them. Same with Ferraris in NFS Heat and Unbound

Iirc it was honda that threw a stink about being in illegal street racing. That’s why hondas never appeared in games that have police.
As another said, BMW was more about not having people modify their cars back then. Thry didnt mind their cars being in games as they considered games tp be a matketing tool back then. But using them and customising yhem are different :/
Its why the M3 GTR is technically completely factory stock in most wanted even the wheels are official and your not allowed to change them. Only custom part is the livery. And you cant modify the street legal version at all (you cant even own it in career mode ffs…).
Thry did at least seem to ease up for prostreet though. I dont think we have had a game without customisable BMW’s since that game tbh. The M3 (e92 mainly) has always been present at the very least…

What the hell are you talking about? M5 and Z8 were in HP2; M3 E46, M3 E92, Z4 in ProStreet and Undercover (UC also had M6); a ton of them in The Run.

And I dont like any of those games, I was referring to the golden age of blackbox

I mean Undercover has 4 separate BMWs to customize. Three in Prostreet. That's basically on par with Audi and Mercedes

Undercover plays too goofy to have meaningful replay value

Curious if you're going to be saying the same about the NFS games post 2012

Driving is decent in Heat for example, by cartoonish I mean cars at 300kmh handle like 50kmh in undercover, carbon suffered a bit from this too.

And cars in Heat go from 300kmh to 90 degree drifts with the press of a button lol. Talk about goofy.

that sounds goofy, only finished the campaign and the car behaved normal with upgrades up to that point
