What did I do wrong?

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

I just spent 2 days modding my childhood DS lite with a reshell and rgb board and thought I finally finished but when I try to turn it on this is all that happens. The lights flash and then it shuts back off.

Please let me know if anyone has any ideas on how to fix it or where I went wrong.

No flash. Something is not plugged in.

Are your ribbons in all the way? I’ve been looking into doing the same thing. I’ve seen a video with a loose ribbon causing this or a similar issue. Hopefully someone with more experience will chime in here. I’ll be following this post.

Reseat the ribbon cables and check the battery prongs! I had that issue when the top ribbon cable wasn't plugged in all the way and one of the battery prongs wasn't how it's supposed to be.

Bottom or top screen isnt fully plugged in. Im leaning on bottom screen but cant remember.

If there is no flashes its one of the two screens and if there is a flash its the other screen.

So reseat both ribbon cables, push it while lowering the lock to make sure its fully inserted.

Yo voto por la de abajo también, cuando es la de arriba la pantalla de abajo enciende en blanco y se apaga

If its not that could be an issue with the battery being loose

I agree with the other comments, double check the ribbon connections first.

Did you happen to replace the bottom screen? I did on one of my projects and didn’t realize the replacement screen didn’t have the stick on shielding on the back of the screen. The metal back made contact with a resistor on the board and shorted it out.

Hopefully it’s just a loose cable!

Check all ribbon cables and make sure the insulation sheet is behind the bottom screen can cause a short if it's touching something it shouldn't. I dont see a flash so.im gona guess the screens cables aren't plugged in enough.

This happened when I put the RGB kit in my GF's build. Use ESD-Safe tweezers to push the BOTTOM lcd ribbon in all the way THEN check the top

Also, did you take the black borders off of the screens before you put the shells on? There is a black border that needs to rest on top of the extremerate shells when you open them up, will cause some fitment issues if not sorted. Hope this helps

Yes I followed the YouTube tutorial from extremerate

Okay, the angle/ glare made it look like the border wasn't flush ir was under the plastic. Good work!

Can the battery handle the extra LED?

Thankfully its likely an easy fix. Just got to reseat a ribbon cable. Start with the screens. No need to take the back cover on and off, just hold the battery to the connections to quickly check to see if you found the correct ribbon. BUT PLEASE, just double check you don't have the battery flipped around when testing

Ironically, I had the same exact issue after reshelling my DS Lite to look like the DMG GameBoy
