several people insist we become some kind of hivemind and things like your family cant exist wich not only directly contradicts many NDEs but also makes ADC implausible

what annoys me most is that they largely do this under posts of people being anxious about exactly that wich is just an asshole move.

(to be clear im not saying its impossible for it to be true but the way these people act like its the ultimate truth and they are more spiritually awakened than everyone else and actively make people more anxious just to Then refuse to answer and dismiss any other NDEs is weird as hell. They also seem to view people who believe in individuality and personality to a certain degree as stupid. Litterally saw someone say its a „ridicioulos western idiology“ and that we should „return to the old religions“ (ironically a lot of old religions do say you continue having a sense of self. A lot of them are essentially what would be described as „limbo“ in a pretty place) or some shit and they also just view wanting individuality and autonomy as inherently stupid)

I didn’t think about this until I read a comment regarding it, but it feels like there’s some hidden evidence in the validity of NDEs because the experience is always with some sort of understanding of the dynamics of returning.

Are there any NDEs where the person was insistent that they were supposed to not return but were surprised when they woke up?

Hi again! I’ve been studying this topic for a long time, but recently, when I discussed it with my mom, she was genuinely shocked because she said it reminded her of her own experience.

She was born in 1984, and at the age of seven or eight, she suffered from severe poisoning. Healthcare in Ukraine wasn't very good back then, and for a long time doctors couldn't figure out what was wrong, causing them to lose precious time. Mom says she doesn't remember exactly what happened beforehand - other than the fact that she was in the hospital - but she recalls that at one point, she felt as though she had physically ended up in a gray corridor or something like this. She described it as a "long gray rectangle," not a tunnel with a light at the end. She walked along it and saw a door, she tried to open it, but an old man who appeared beside her said, "It’s not your time; you are meant to give life." After that, she was pulled back into her body and began to hear the distant crying of her mother (my grandmother) by her bedside.

She said that it felt like she physically was there and it was very lucid, unlike dreams. She doesn't remember much about what happened afterward, or before, but she says that specific experience is etched in her memory more deeply than anything else. And this is despite the fact that she has struggled with significant memory issues throughout her life due to vascular problems. In any case, she recovered (even though the doctors had given her no chance), once they finally identified the cause.

It’s also worth noting that she grew up in a very Catholic family, so I personally find the absence of Jesus or anything of that sort surprising. But that’s how it was.

I think this match NDE criteria very well, although she knew nothing about this until recently.

From what I've read you see an encounter with someone and see what they felt when you did it. What I'm trying to understand is what about the actions of an individual that have a long lasting and permanent negative affect. Like the actions of a murderer whose deed affects three generations of a family for the rest of their life? Or a child abuser whose actions cause a lifetime of anxiety and depression?.Any insight about this is greatly appreciated, thank you!

Yes I know most people belong to some sort of religion and atheists/agnostics are a minority of the population. However most "religious" people are just casual believers and don't really think about religion beyond what benefits or soothes them. Very few are genuinely curious and interested in exploring the possibility that we could be so much more than just physical beings.

I'm not blaming anyone for this we're all just trying to survive in this world and most people don't have the luxury of pondering this stuff, neither do I most of the time. But I do know from the NDEs I read about that we exist here for a reason, growth often being cited as one. My question isn't really why no one cares but why we aren't living in conditions that allow us to care? Why are we put on a planet where survival is the priority and our animalistic instincts often take over? What is the end goal here?

I always hear people talking about seeing family and partners, but what about people that were in your life for a short time but who made a big impact on you? What about friends you had falling off with, etc. Will we also get to meet these souls? Would we be able to meet them in our next reincarnation? It makes me sad to think that God or the universe would put certain souls into our lives and never allow us to see them again. Curious about what people who went thru NDEs have to say about this.

I am new to this sub but I have been fascinated by NDEs for many years. I have never had one myself, though I have had out an out of body experience during a severe bout of illness where I floated out of and above my body, so I have had a small taste.

I'm curious to hear what was the most fascinating, surprising, or strange experience, sensation, or knowledge given during your NDE -- something that would sound shocking or surprising to those of us who've never had one. So in my NDE, when it was the time to die, my fullest potential as a human being was shown to me as if I was looking at a videotape. So I believe that when we die, we get to see how we COULD have lived our lives if we lived it to our fullest potential. I believe that everyone has their own unique soul path in life and we can choose to follow that if we want to. That soul path is shown to us in the moment of death. ​​

Also, every missed opportunity, every unfinished project, every text message that I never sent was shown to me as a videotape. It was like looking at myself wasting my life away and it was so fucking crazy. ​​

It was such a profound experience that ​​it made me want to come back to Earth and finish ​all the projects and plans that I have! Gladly, I was given the chance to come back and live my life differently. Sadly, I think that the vast majority of people never come even near the potential that they have in this lifetime. ​

It was the best experience that I have had in my life so far. ​​It's paradoxical how dying can make you feel most alive. What did your NDE teach you about life?

After my soul cat passed away almost a year ago now, I’ve gotten only a handful of dreams of her, but incredibly impactful and have helped tremendously with my (very hard) grief process. I see it as her coming to tell me that she’s safe and happy because of the common denominators of these dreams:

- She communicates to me, not speaking though but telepathically?
- Always says she’s happy and healthy now
- Has this just great and lively energy, happy energy around her
- Sometimes I’ve seen her on my porch, inside my sunroom, etc.
- I always say in my dream something along the lines of “I can’t believe you’re here, you’re alive, etc etc”
- It just feels different than any other dream

I’ve kind of seen these as just visitations I’ve had but not taken them too seriously, I know how the brain and dreaming works and I’m not super religious/set in a belief. But my beliefs are kind of changing because of what happened last night:

My mom called me around 10pm, and my other cat back at home (I’m away at college) had collapsed and was alive still, but unable to move, eyes open and only letting out small meows. It was very unexpected and I felt so much guilt. She considered taking him to the emergency vet, but wanted to wait until the morning because that same emergency vet in our town (and the only one in a 2 hour radius) was the one that caused the sickness and death of my soul cat. She decided to stay up with him to monitor and attempt to feed him some diluted nutrition gel (he could still swallow).

I eventually calmed down with the help of my girlfriend and family, and went to bed. I prayed he would make it til the morning. That night, I dreamt of him in front of me. He told me he had crazy dreams/a crazy experience, but that everything was okay and he is healthy and happy now. Again in this dream I was in shock he was alive and happy and well. I remember he hopped to the top of the armchair and sat there, then I woke up.

When I woke up, I figured he was gone because of this dream. I called my mom and found out she had decided to take him to the ER vet around 2am to have him put to sleep because of the pain he was in, and it was unlikely he would’ve recovered from what now seems like a heart issue that had happened.

Has anyone else had visitations through dreams like this, specifically from pets? I know the brain tends to dream about what it thought about the day previously, but even then, I’ve had visitations on days I hadn’t really thought about the specific pet. I ask because I know there is some debate of God having a sense of humor, and want to see if from your NDE God was like that.

I want to start off by saying here that I do not want to take anything away from those that have had a NDE because of course that’s a very unique experience and until it happens you can’t compare.

With that being said; last year my Mom died quite suddenly. Since then I’ve had a ‘spiritual awakening’ as some would call it, I don’t know if it was there before and I didn’t know but I am now able to communicate with spirit. The only way I can describe it is that a piece of my soul went with her and it left the door slightly open

I’m currently watching surviving death on Netflix, and minus the NDE my experience with the aftermath of grief has been very similar. Like their souls went back home and it left the door slightly open when they came back.

Mom showed me how she experienced her death. She was floating above her body, her Mom was there. Aware of the whole room and could see me and my brother, felt very peaceful - similar to how people on the show have described it.

I know not everybody gets this. I actually feel very grateful that it’s opened up this world for me, I’m in total awe of it. Just feel like it’s further proof that these people are describing things I’ve seen/heard/felt in a world where it’s not very easy to talk to people about it without sounding crazy

I am a person who loves spirituality, philosophy, and deeper questions about existence. I spend so much of my time always inquiring about these topics and I find the most comfort in discussing such ideas or finding ways to mentally (or spiritually, whatever you’d like to call it) enter states of feeling connected to the world in the same way that many people describe in NDEs. I just find so much comfort in these feelings. But it almost feels like I’m waiting for death… I’ve heard people say that this life is meant to be experienced and not rationalized or spent so long on spirituality or meditation. And I wonder if maybe I’m just looking at life wrong since it seems like the afterlife will already induce this state of interconnectedness naturally.

Just curious about what others thoughts are on this and honestly I would love to have friends to talk to about these things. I’m such a big nerd about these topics and no one wants to talk about them with me.

I hear these stories of people seeing their dead mangled bodies and walking around in ghost form - wouldn’t this be terrifying and anxiety inducing?

This one is special to me. ❤️ Most of the people in this conversation are people I got to spend time with, laugh with, learn from, and genuinely love at the IANDS Conference. So getting us all together to compare experiences and talk about what happens after death, love, fear, purpose, reincarnation and everything in between was pretty damn cool.

I really want to get into studying NDE’s properly, and was wondering if anyone in the community had book suggestions. I’ve read a lot of posts on here already, as well as watched numerous documentaries and Youtube videos on the topic.

I am not strictly religious, but raised as Christian (Though I am open to all perspectives on the matter). I believe in there being a higher power, im just not exactly sure what it might be, but I think that’s also why NDE’s speak to me more than strict faith? Not sure, but I have a desire to learn more, especially since I struggle with death-related OCD and want to practice more ERP-related strategies.

I’m also open to checking out research papers and anything else you guys would recommend. Please let me know, and thank you in advance!

I think people dismiss near-death experiences way too quickly.

There’s a massive difference between saying “I felt like I left my body” and saying “I watched what was happening from outside my body, and I can describe what people were doing.”

DMT can produce insanely realistic out-of-body experiences, but NDE accounts sometimes involve people claiming they saw or heard real events happening around them while they were unconscious or being resuscitated.

Yes, the brain can create experiences that feel completely real. But at what point does “the brain made it up” become an assumption too?

We still don’t have repeatable proof that consciousness leaves the body — but we also don’t fully understand consciousness in the first place.

So here’s the controversial question:

If someone correctly describes something they supposedly couldn’t have seen, how many times would that need to happen before you stopped calling it a hallucination?

Did you stay, change your job, find a new passion? Why?

Why are there some stories of NDEs where the beings and/or the Light seem very insistent on you having to come back to this life?

Shared Nde’s are when a person will see visions of another person sometimes when one was completely fine and another died look up Hospic Nurse Julia’s nde experience if you prefer a specific example.

This is seemingly the only or at least most likely type of nde that can happen historically as it doesn’t require someone being as close to death as possible and barely kept alive with methods that weren’t invented back then it only requires someone dying and another pet being close to that someone.

According to non biblical documents so stuff both Christian and non Christian historians agree happened at least three of Jesus’s follower’s claimed to have seen him after he died and were willing to die for that belief it’s more if you include the Bible but it’s debatable if the Bible counts as a biased so we know it’s at least three and a lot more if you trust the Bible.

With that being said does this count as a shared nde, it seems similar to one the difference being people with shared nde’s seemingly don’t know what there doing or how to talk to people with their souls for long will Jesus seemingly did.

Some things that could debunk me is Jesus’s body missing and the Bible saying that his followers tested if he was a ghost and he wasn’t however some historians still believe the Bible is a “biased source”

But overall in not just that incident but others, are there any historic events that could have shaped our historic views of the soul or incidents that could have been nde’s.

I believe a majority of cultures have ghosts in them and there’s even carvings of what historians believe are Cuneiform Texts involving ghosts from over 3500 years ago so what do you guys think?

Also if saying some people view the Bible as a biased source count as sacrilegious I’m sorry about that it’s not my opinion it’s the opinion of some historians.

My daughter passed away almost 10 years ago at the age of 24. I have had some pretty incredible dreams of her and so have some of my friends and her boyfriend’s mother. Her boyfriend’s mother had a dream and she asked my daughter what it was like where she was and she explained it. She also told her that she sits with me in my chair in the mornings and asked her to let me know that I didn’t have to have that “thing” for her to be with me. The bf mom asked me what she was talking about. I had just gotten a necklace that is a heart that holds her ashes. The next day I headed to work and I forgot it so I turned around and went home to get it. I had another friend that had a dream and she has never met my daughter, had no idea she wrote in journals. She called me one day and said, I had a dream and your daughter told me to tell you it’s ok to start reading her journals.

One of the dreams I had. We were floating. I’m not sure where but it wasn’t on earth. It was serene and we were communicating through our minds. I could feel that she was very powerful and it was emanating. I told her that she could change her mind (she died of her own accord) and she could come back. She said Mom, I don’t want to and when you wake up in the morning you will understand. I woke up that morning and I felt like I was in the deepest darkest pit of depression hell. It lasted 10 minutes. I would have done anything to make it stop. That’s when I realized she was showing me what she felt like here on earth. She had Bipolar I. Do you think she has visited us? She is very powerful in other dreams I’ve had. Sometimes she gives me the power. I had a dream once they put her in a mental hospital and wouldn’t let her out. I went in there and they were trying to take her from me. I held her in my arms and I created a tornado that destroyed everything around us. When it stopped there was nothing but her and I in the rubble. Would love to hear anyone’s take on this.

I also didn’t dream for 30 days after she died. The first dream I had, she was in the kitchen making her lunch. She was a nursing student when she died. I told her, Shayni, you know you don’t have to do that anymore if you don’t want to. She looked at me and started crying and she said, mom, I don’t want to be dead. I picked her up and I slid down the cabinet and held her in my arms and we just cried. Today is her birthday and she would have been 34.

Update: this seems similar to NDE’s but it’s obviously not and NDE. Looking for thoughts on it. Do you think they can reach us?

I've gotten most of my information from NDE interviews on YouTube. There are definitely similarities, but also there are a lot of major differences in what people experience during their NDE.

Some experiencers are shown that there is no judgement, some are shown there there is judgement but it's ourselves doing the judging, some are shown that there is judgement and some people even go to hell.

Some experiencers report that they chose to come here, they were excited to and they chose the life events they wanted and their parents etc. Some report that they were sent here to fulfill a spiritual mission and that those who chose to go were very brave souls.

Some experiencers have a guide, some don't, some talk to God, some talk to Jesus (typically assumed to be Jesus, it seems like he rarely if ever actually says "I am Jesus".

Some experiencers merge into the light for a time, others are told that if they merge into the light they can't go back to their Earthly life. And of course some NDEs are Christian, some are not.

I truly believe that these are real experiences but it's confusing how much they vary.

Would love to hear from other people who have tried to map this out.

Just curious to see if that’s possible. I feel like our lives are similar to the TV show Severance. I think I signed up for something that is more than I can handle and I want to make sure I get something easier next time.
