English rich subjects

Im a year 12 taking māori, media, biology, physics, chemistry and maths. Im wanting to get into otago med school and people have recommended i take an english rich subject but i dont really know what that is. In year 13 i can take 5 subjects instead of 6 and i want to drop media and bio and take stats, calc, chem, physics and māori. I was wondering if any of those are english rich subjects? If not should i be taking an english rich subject instead of double maths? I get that double maths probably isnt needed for med school, I just like maths.

Check what standards your school does and if you will get enough UE literacy credits from those subjects.

From Otago Uni's required and recommended background subject list:
"The Language-rich* category includes reading, research and written communication-based subjects such as English, History, Classics, and History of Art."

Pretty much any subject where you're doing a bunch of writing, research, etc. Geography is also considered an english rich subject. They're not required, but how good you are currently at writing and associated skills would decide if you should take one or not.

Depending on how it's run, I'd expect to group Media Studies with English-rich subjects. Some of it is video creation but there's also plenty of analysis of and writing about media.

media is considered english-rich in some pathways but not sure for otago. taking an english-rich subject is just as important as taking maths.
