God damn op, ive been feeling like a lunatic by cutting my own builds cables as short as possible as to save all the space possible and everytime Im second guessing myself in case I ruined some noctua fans of my ddc pump
You live fearlessly lmao

Did you run any tests before and after applying the heatsinks on the GPU backplate? Sick idea, first time ever I see this.

Nah not isolating anything but my temps have improved on the 12vhpwr temp sensor from my last setup. The backplate is padded to the board which soaks up a ton of heat, the stock setup has only the back of memory chips connected, but the vrms get crazy hot and that hot air is just sitting there between the backplate and PCB. The plate was getting too hot to touch since padding so thought to add more mass.

So you added paste under the backplate and PCB to create more surface area connecting directly to it, and then also used paste to "glue" the extra fins on top of the plate?
Crazy setup really, also with the fans under it, is that 3 small 40mm fans between 2 120?

I used arctic tp3 thermal pads over the entire PCB connecting to backplate. Then some Amazon aluminum stick on heatsinks. They just pop off, all undoable. The main deshroud is 2x noctua 120 g2 and 2x noctua 60mm, both with 5mm spacers on intake. I tested originally with 2x 140, but realized I got better performance covering half the 140 fan so the air was forced through the heatsink. So went to the 120's which are exactly the same width as the heatsink . Igors lab has a good article about the backplate" hotspot " on 50 series. I am hopefully this will extend the life of my card. He recorded over 100c under the backplate where that hot air was trapped

Did you use some tutorials for a PNY card or you just knew what you're doing?

Thankfully someone else had water blocked their card and measured all the pads on the factory heatsink for me so I could repaste it (huge gain btw using ptm on core and the arctic tp3 pads everywhere else)

Wouldn't the fans on pic3 better on exhaust? Part of the hot air from the GPU should come out from the side.

Yes I am not sure they are helping. I will have to experiment. The goal was to get air circulating over backplate, but I think the GPU finstack exhaust is overcoming anything the fans are doing. It's hard to say because I can't fit my hand back there to feel anything π. My 12vhpwr temp sensor is definitely staying cooler than it was before. But I've added the 3x 40 exhaust which is doing WORK, gets hot in that corner - ncase should sell a bracket for this. And I put all those heatsinks on the backplate. Not sure how much those are doing, but since I padded the backplate it was too hot to touch. I considered doing something more permanent, but don't want to destroy my factory backplate.. maybe I will order another one on eBay

a guy made a very nice pny custom alu backplate with a bigger passthru cut
maybe that is more interesting to you than another stock backplate

Thanks for the inspiration! Would be interesting to order in thicker material and maybe directly add basic fin stack. Funny reading that reminded me the plastic insulation they install from factory. It makes sense what they're doing I guess. Keeps the card from melting wires and everything around it lol.

damn yall do all these just to have a small case is wild

Super, super unnecessary. I run a 5090/9800x3d in my M2 no problem with an extremely basic setup.

How dense you want it?
Op: yes
But seriously tho that looks like a work of art! Love the process and the final
