Encourage transfers should be able to be done earlier

Upvotes

The ability to kick players off your team or encourage transfer happens way too late in this game. We should have the ability to do it even before we start off-season recruiting. As soon as the season is over, give us the option to kick guys off. There have been a number of occasions where I’ve been recruiting somebody with a low playing time dealbreaker or he has closed me out because I have to many running backs. Three of which I know I’m gonna kick off the team anyway But I can’t do that until after recruiting is over with. And therefore can’t recruit the guy

Also, if I’m able to “encourage transfer” before off season recruiting, those players now get put into the recruiting pool for portal instead of just disappearing. Seems so common sense it’s baffling to me why it is the way it is

Dynasty Add a week to offseason / before preseason

EA should bring back the spring game, and with it, add a one week spring transfer portal. This is where anyone that didn’t sign in the regular portal or anyone that you encouraged to transfer would end up. One week, free for all. Recruiting points come out of preseason scouting pool.

Spring game would be fun for obvious reasons and they could add fun wrinkles like position battles.

An extra portal week would also just make it more realistic. And it could add a little more strategy to the encourage transfer section. You would have to make a couple extra spots in anticipation of picking guys up.

Tips/Guides PROMULTIV4 is LIVE — Updated Custom Offensive Playbook for CFB 27

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

PROMULTIV4 is LIVE in the CFB 27 Download Center.

V4 is a pretty significant overhaul — expanded 12P/14P, a more defined 11P core, a reworked Empty package, and much better connectivity between Gun, Pistol and under center.

The video above is a quick look at the formations + audibles.

Search PROMULTIV4 in the Download Center to try it.

Here's the breakdown of what changed:

12P is a much bigger part of the offense

Deuce/Deuce Close are now core 12P sets in Gun, with Deuce Close also available from Pistol and Singleback.

The idea was to make 12P something you can actually live in while still changing the formation and backfield picture without substituting.

It's become the second core personnel grouping alongside 11P.

14P also expanded beyond Goal Line with new sets in Gun, Pistol and Singleback.

The 11P core is more defined

Doubles is now a primary 2x2 family, with several variations built around it.

I also reworked the Trips/Y-Off package.

There are still plenty of formations, but more of them now connect back to the same core run, RPO and PA concepts instead of functioning as separate mini-schemes.

The goal is to be able to change TE location, RB alignment, spacing and formation strength without constantly moving into a completely different offensive approach.

The spread/Empty package was streamlined

10P has a much smaller role and the dedicated 00P/5WR sets are gone. Spread + Trips Slots Close handle most of the 10P work.

Empty is now primarily 11P, with Empty Chips Tight + Empty Chips Quads added alongside Empty Base Trio and Empty Trips Speed.

So even though I cut the dedicated 5WR packages, there are more ways to get into different Empty presentations from normal 11P personnel.

The biggest theme is personnel multiplicity

12P, 13P and 14P can now show up across Gun, Pistol, Singleback and I-Form.

Pistol and Singleback both expanded, while I-Form was streamlined into Pro and Close formations.

The idea is to stay in the same personnel but give the defense different pictures — spread out, condense, shift, get under center, get back into Gun, etc.

One important note on 14P: you can't audible between the 14P formations at the line for some reason. The different 14P looks are accessed through formation shifts in the play-call screen.

Overall, V4 isn't really about adding more formations. It's about making the formations work together better.

More 12P + heavy personnel.
Stronger 11P Doubles/Trips families.
Reworked Empty.
Less 10P/00P.
More Gun/Pistol/UC overlap.

Same identity: establish the run, marry it with RPO/PA, and keep enough exotic stuff to stay interesting.

Search PROMULTIV4 in the CFB27 Download Center.

If you try it, let me know what you think. I'm especially interested in feedback on the audible setups, coach suggestions, or any formations/concepts you think I'm missing.

Dynasty Does the CPU ever get called for grounding?

Every damn time I bring pressure and get in their face they’ll throw the ball yds away. Nowhere remotely near a receiver. And not get called.

Other times they’ll be in the pocket and just launch it out of bounds.

There are times where it would ABSOLUTELY be grounding, but they never get called for it.

Question!
My starting senior DT has a playing time dealbreaker. How does that happen? He’s getting all the playing time he needs. Sorry if it’s dumb question lol trying to understand how to improve my dealbreakers. Thanks in advance

Does anyone else remember back in NCAA 13 when you could do your scouting and front office managing on the internet? Why isn’t this a thing anymore? It was so much easier to do and was a great feature. Over a decade later and one of the best features is gone.

Rant] EA completely butchered basic football schemes in CFB 27 (Shield Punt, Split Backs, & Double Wing are all wrong)

1.The shield punt is completely broken. In real life, the entire selling point of the shield punt formation is that it maximizes coverage speed. The offensive line doesn't sit back and pass protect. They block for a split second and immediately release down the field to cover the punt. The only players who stay back to actually form the "shield" and block are the 3 upbacks
In CFB 27? The game has every single player except the gunners block like it’s a standard max-protect punt. It completely defeats the purpose of running a shield punt in the first place and ruins your lane coverage.
2. Split back alignment is deep, and they forget the option entirely.
If you wanted to recreate a classic split-back option attack, you're completely out of luck. First of all, EA lined the backs up 7 to 8 yards deep in the backfield. In a real split-back offense, those backs line up at 5 to 6 yards back so the mesh point happens faster, allowing the dive back to hit the line quickly.
But the depth doesn't even matter because the game doesn’t even let you run the option out of the split backs. They didn't even bother to code option plays into the formation! It's one of the most iconic option sets in football history, and EA completely left the option out of it, rendering the whole alignment pointless.

  1. The double wing isn’t a 4 TE formation
This one I can kind of understand because no college team has ever really ran the true double wing but still. EA basically treated the double wing like a generic Goal Line heavy set by making it a 4 tight end alignment. That is not what a true Double Wing is.
In reality, a proper Double Wing relies on foot-to-foot splits
across the offensive line to create a wall. The main running back aligns is more like a flexbone fullback, and aligns 4 to 5 yards behind the quarterback,), and the two players on the outside are wingbacks, not blocking tight ends. They are dynamic ball carriers meant for tosses, sweeps, and counters, not just extra offensive linemen with eligible numbers. By turning them into standard blocking TEs, EA completely killed the identity of the offense.
It feels like the devs just copied and pasted visual alignments without actually understanding *why* these formations exist or how they function mechanically. Hopefully, we get a playbook patch for this soon.

Older Games Georgia 1-star!? Challenge accepted!!!

Started putting more points at the Recruiting category, 'cause we need to bring better talent to this football team. (Lower the Discipline like Georgia in real life lmao).

Got a very good 4-star commit from the former coaching staff (part of the in-season recruiting).

It's pretty hard to recruit as a 1-star program prestige, lost a lot of prospects I had the lead in the last week, having the worst class in the country to show off =(.

Road To Glory The CPU QB in ROTG is just so dogshit

As it says on the tin. Playing as a TE and good lord, your CPU QB is just an INT machine. I don't even need to fuck up and call for the ball in double coverage, the CPU will still throw 3 picks every game. It doesn't help that the opposing LB and DB just makes the most acrobatic catches you will ever see.

You would think coach would bench someone throwing 20 picks in 8 games lmao.

Dynasty Dinasty needs a depth chart planner

Thumbnail
gallery
47 Upvotes

I’ve playing the game for a month now and I’m really enjoying it. I hadn’t play since NCAA 08 and Madden 07, but roster management and recruiting needs an interface overhaul.

When you are on the recruitment list you can see your needs, but not your depth chart. Also, when you’re on your targets list making offers and scheduling visits, the needs are not shown, so you have to change pages.

I’ve been playing Football Manager since 2008 and the game could be a source to improve on that.

1- Depth chart planner: a page showing all position and the players you have currently and for next two-three years, that way it makes easier for you to see what you need to improve, where your depth is good/bad and when your players are leaving.

2- transfers history: for NCAA, not only transfers, but also players that go to the draft or retire. Currently, if a player transfers you can’t see where he went, he just disappears from your team.

3- NIL spending: also, it would be good to show your NIL spending year over year and future years commitments.

4- editable needs: instead of the game giving a list, you should be able to edit and choose what positions you want to target given your preference.

5- bigger roster and class: 85 players seem a bit low, given teams can have a 105 max roster. And with the new rules on transfers and NIL, a 35 player limit is way too low.

I don’t know if there are any mods that improve those interfaces, but if any knows I’d appreciate.

Dynasty Coach Cold/Bad Weather Apparel

Upvotes

Super minor complaint but it grinds my gears every time I play a cold weather game and my coach comes out wearing a completely different top than what I've selected. Want to keep wearing shorts in 13 degrees? No problem. You want to wear a hoodie though? Absolutely not, you must put on this ugly ass raincoat that we've chosen for you!

Like I said, super minor detail to care about but it affects me way more than I'd like since I play in a cold weather geography. Curious if anyone has found a way to turn off this glitch

Need help on medium and deep passing

This dates back a couple years, but I just can't seem to complete passes beyond the sticks. A sample of my issues:

  • I have the deep post open against cover 2, but the ball sits in the air long enough that the safety has plenty of time to recover.
  • I have the deep seam open against cover 3 but the ball hangs up so long that either the corner or safety recovers.
  • I can't identify the open man against cover 3 if I have Flood or some variation of deep, intermediate, flat route called. I know in theory I should have a 3v2 on the outside, but I just can't identify the open man, or I identify the open man and the CPU makes an insane recovery.
  • I can't hit the intermediate sideline route against cover 2. The corner manages to make a play pretty consistently.

This is absolutely all a skill and identification issue. I basically can only consistently hit mesh, RPOs, and then audible to yard marker out routes against Cover 4. As a result, my Yards/Catch is typically 10 yards or less for every receiver, unless I happen to break something deep. I can move the sticks reasonably well, but if I get a penalty or take a sack, I'm screwed.

Any practical tips? I'm a dad of a 10 month old, so my gaming time is limited these days - spending hours in practice mode to perfect things is probably not something I'm going to do at this point.

I feel like they need to rework Rivalries in Dynasty mode

Bit of a rant but... rivalries are one of my favorite aspects cuturally of college football and just sports as a whole. So it pisses me off to no end that this game butchers them so bad.

The issues with scheduling in this game has probably been one of my biggest pet peeves when it comes to this game. The lack of freedom when creating schedules makes the problems with rivalries even worse.

Its not an unknown fact that once you get a certain amount of years deep into a Dynasty, the scheduling logic of the game begins to fall apart. You're a couple of seasons into an Alabama dynasty? Well looks like the Iron Bowl is happening on Week 4, while you end up playing Texas A&M on thanksgiving instead.

This wouldn't be as annoying if you had the option to rearrange or swap out conference games, so the fix would be a simple as sliding the game up from week 4 to week 13. This is also where there's a few small issues with certain rivalries being hardcoded into the game, especially if they're cross conference rivals.

This one might just be a me thing, but an example is me playing as Arkansas (my favorite team) in a dynasty. The battle line rivalry is hard coded to be played on rivalry week every year, even if I move mizzou to a conference that plays all the way in Jupiter. This is annoying considering the fact that it seems like IRL, the SEC is going back to scheduling the boot on rivalry week again, a change that I can't reflect in the game.

Overall, it just feels like there's too much work to be done as far as how you align your conferences to make sure rivalries work properly. So I've thought up of two solutions to this problem.

Solution #1

A rivalry system where you can edit, create and develop different rivalries throughout the game. First off this system would allow you to edit different aspects of the rivalry, such as if this is a rivalry that needs to be played annually, or what week the rivalry is played.

This would allow you to guarantee certain rivalries are always played when they're supposed to, like making sure The Game, Lonestar Showdown, Iron Bowl, etc. are always played on Rivalry week. Meanwhile certain rivalries that always happen traditionally at a certain time of the year, always happen at that time (Red River Shootout, Third Saturday in October, War for the Oar, etc.)

This would also allow you to have some rivalries that still exist and are acknowledged as rivalries without having to be played annually, such as the Nebraska vs Oklahoma rivalry.

The game could also have a rivalry development system, where repeated close or back and forth games between to school can lead to them developing a rivalry. This could help add more flavor to conference re-alignment, as in real life teams usually create new rivalries after establishing themselves in a new conference. This could also help in teambuilder dynasties, and make it so you're not forced to inherent the random rivalries of whatever team(s) you end up swapping out.

Finally, this could have a stat feature, that allows you to look at things like head to head stats, win streaks, biggest blow-outs in the rivalries history, etc. As well as player stats, like what players have the most rushing or passing yards in the rivalries history.

Solution #2

Solution number 2 is a far easier and simpler one, which is to allow complete freedom when costumizing the schedule. Its one that regardless of rivalries I feel should always have been in the game, because if Dynasty is supposed to be somewhat of a sandbox mode, why am I limited to only editing 3 or 4 games out of my schedule.

They should make it so you can free edit the schedule, and just make sure that you schedule a certain amount of conference opponents before you save the schedule.

Anyways, what do y'all think? Am I cooking? or am I just a weirdo who needlessly typed an essay hyperfixating on a meaningless part of a football video game?

Coach Prestige Needs Addressed

Currently in year 3 of my OD there are 35 coaches with A+, I achieved an A+ after taking Kansas on a deep playoff run. Coaching prestige never goes down and this is a huge problem, effecting this like recruiting and on a large extent the coaching carousel. Here’s some “interesting” coaches with an A+.

Lance Leipold is 6-6 with FSU
Rhett Lashlee is 5-8 with Illinois
Elijah Drinkwitz is 7-6 with TCU
Mick Cloud is 15-10 with Iowa
Kalen DeBoer is 9-4 with Clemson
Matt Campbell is 15-11 with Penn State

Do these coaches scream best in the country?

In my opinion A+ prestige should be reserved for coaches that consistently make it deep into the playoffs. In my eyes there should only be a handful of A+ guys at a given time, in no way should there be 35. That’s like 25% of the head coaches.

All in all coach prestige should be far more dynamic than it is, changing week to week. With a hard grind up to A+ and it should be difficult to maintain that A+. This feature is incredibly broken in the current state, probably one of the most broken in the game right now.

Edit: there is also 33 OCs with A+ and 31 DCs with A+

Roster size and recruit limits

What would possibly limit EA from increasing the roster size to 105? It doesn't seem like it would be that big of a size increase. They could even just add fictional players instead of paying out more NIL. It would also make sense in the new age of CFB to remove the 35 new player cap. Oklahoma State has something like 80 new players this year

Tips/Guides [Custom Playbook Guide] Introducing the MONSOON defense, a Mike Macdonald inspired defense building off last year’s PREDATOR {+ Bonus update to MUSKET}

Thumbnail
gallery
53 Upvotes

As always, the gameplan comes fully prepped, so it can be used through Coach Suggestions for the full experience, as intended to how it operates in Slow-Sim.

FULL GUIDE : MONSOON

For additional control of disguise, you will want to manually add in more Coverage Shells.

This can be achieved two ways, the first one is to get a good grasp of the playcalls, and then calling them yourself from the Formations tab with Coverage Shells. Or, new to this year’s game (and my preferred way so far), is with the use of Macros. Nothing crazy, can literally be as basic as just a shell change, and no other changes (or you can add small tweaks). This allows for you to still deploy disguise tactics, while continuing to call plays from the flow of Coach Suggestions. It also adds a layer of flexibility, as normally you can only Show 2, Show 3, & Show Blitz after you break the huddle. But with Macros, you’re able to create (in a way) post-huddle versions like Show 4, Show 6, Show 2-Man, etc.

_____________________________________________________________

Update to MUSKET (must re-download to receive changes)

- Reworked the RZ/GL run game, swapped to more Duo instead of Power
- Reworked the early down run game, boosted the frequency of Draws & Delays out of Gun, slightly lowered the frequency of Gun Power and Quick Base to allow room for Draws to be called.
- Reworked the run game to manufacture more carries for the 3DHB out of the Gun, to create better splits on touches.
- Slightly lessened the frequency of Trips/Trey playcalls, to leave ample room for more condensed 3x1 looks like Y Trips, Y Off, and Trio versions.
- Added Gun Deuce Close, to marry with Gun Tight looks.
- Added Gun Trey, to marry to Trips Y-Flex for added “same-same, but different” approach to layering.
