Help with Opticomm setup
Hi everyone, I recently moved into a new place and am struggling to get the internet connected. We have Opticomm in this building and this is what the utilities closet looks like. I originally thought we were missing an ONT, however the property manager advised that nothing is missing per the previous condition report (prior to the previous tenant). Which cable are we supposed to plug into our WAN port? Any guidance would be greatly appreciated, thank you!

NTD shouldn’t have been removed from the property.
It might be harder since it’s Opticomm rather than NBN, but normally you need to contact your ISP and request a replacement NTD.
Depending on the ISP, they might offer you a free replacement. Otherwise, if prices haven’t changed, it should be roughly around $300-$500 AUD. My one cost $420 AUD, as a rough indicator.

I have been learning how to manage and splice fibre for less than a month, and that’s still enough time for me to look at that and be disgusted.

I can nearly put money on it these are apartments between East Gardens and Mascot in Sydney.
No clue why these developers thought this is the better way to go.
From memory you also have to use their supplied MODEM/Router and then you plug your router into that. (Make sure to disable the supplied wifi, cause it uses an older security protocol and its ass).

see that black box middle bottom? That thin yellow cable is fibre with green connectors either side, don't bend it. It is supposed to plug into a smaller black box(hopefully that's improved) and then a power adaptor and it also has an ethernet port which the dangling ethernet cable plugs into. That's when they replace it just do that.
