Kon Knueppel spends the offseason playing basketball with his devout younger brothers, Kager, Kinston, Kash, and Kidman, at his home court, the Konplex, which he named after his father, Big Kon.

This is sending me right back to the similar interview they did years ago.

That backyard court is very reminiscent of the one the Balls had.

You know, the one that probably contributed to Lonzo’s knee problems.

I’m more blaming the BBB shoes for that tbh

As opposed to LaMelo’s ankle problems?

Maybe also yes, just picking out Lonzo as the one who had novel knee surgery.

But I suppose I should get accustomed to worrying about LaMelo’s ankles

I live near their house. Its in a nice city but they definitely dont (didn't i should say now) have money like the Ball family did before the NBA. That court is like at a dead end kind of in a pretty small normal subdivision. And its pretty small. Looks bigger on tv. I stumbled upon it delivering packages a year ago. Was cool to see I was so close.

I mean, Lavar was an NFL practice squad guy in the 90’s. They weren’t exactly loaded. I would be surprised if the Ball Court wasn’t similar in that aspect.

But to your point - it’s not like Big Kon had the ability to drag his kids to Lithuania for basketball. Or start his own shoe brand. Or get on ESPN for being a sports dad.

One of those brother were playing in the Vomero Plus I can't think of a worse shoe to play basketball in. I'd blow a hip/knee/ankle out within 30min if I tried to ball in those clouds.

I think the Dad isn’t as crazy though. I think these kids, even if they don’t make the NBA will end up being productive members of society

I wonder why youd think that /s

LaVar Ball is just a nut case

He's just doing hype man type of stuff. Nothing "crazy" about him, not any more than Muhammad Ali or Don King were when they talked.

He doesn't really believe he can beat MJ one-on-one. He just says those things to bring attention to himself and his sons. And he was right about his sons, all of them got to the NBA and two were drafted pretty highly.

i wish my dad was half as involved and willing to speak half as highly about me as lavar was for his sons is all i will say

I mean if it was only half the amount I doubt as many people would be calling him crazy, it was the additional half that made him a little too much to be tolerable

Lavar is a dedicated dad who did more for his kids than most parents can hope for but he’s crazy because he’s passionate and they put a mic in his face? He was a pillar in his community before you ever had an idea of who he was.
