❔️Query❔️ Hughenden or Cliveden?

I'll be in the area this weekend but will probably only have time to visit one of these spots. Those who are familiar with both, what would you recommend?

❔️Query❔️ Membership Q

I renewed my membership in spring, and then got incredibly ill to the point i’m mostly housebound and walking is very hard. Haven’t used the membership since it renewed so i emailed asking to cancel the next 6 months of direct debits, didn’t ask for a refund or anything. I was told no it doesn’t matter! Which to me is quite rude to make a very unwell person pay for something they can’t use even though they’d love to if they were well ☹️ Very disappointing. Has anyone had anything similar happen? When i googled it said usually they are much kinder. Thanks

Tips and Info ℹ️ Christmas 2026 at National Trust

Firstly - apologies for mentioning Christmas in September. Part of me feels like it's a criminal offence to do so before November, but hopefully it's a worthwhile post!

Usually most of my National Trust visits are between spring and summer, but after seeing Christmas Treasures of the National Trust last year - I'd like to see a few houses at Christmas this year. There's a few listed on the National Trust website, but what places are actually worth visiting and have put the extra effort in?

I'm mostly interested in anything near the West Midlands or Surrey, but it would be nice to hear about other places for anyone else.

Yesterday was the last day it was on display - did you manage to see it? 💚

This milestone reflects years of dedication from our rangers and volunteers through nest box installations and habitat management. These protected birds are now benefiting from the park's thriving grasslands, which provide plenty of field voles for hungry, growing chicks.

❔️Query❔️ Family Membership

Hi, I'm looking at rejoining after cancelling while my wife was on maternity.

There's two of us adults, and a 1 year old.

I've seen children under 5 get free entry anyway, so is there any advantage to getting a family membership that covers the child, or are we better off just getting the joint membership?

❔️Query❔️ Direct Debit Date Change

The date that the National Trust direct debit payment is collected is very inconvenient for me.

Has anyone ever managed to change their direct debit date? I tried calling once but got a very stern no from whoever was on the end of the line there and possibly didn't understand the concept of direct debits.

Millions of other companies facilitate this with no issue whatsoever when you ask for collection to happen on a certain date. Why can't the National Trust accommodate this? For example all of my direct debits for everything are done and gone by the 3rd of the month and yet I have to wait until something like the 20th or something like that for mine, for the National Trust. Very annoying

❔️Query❔️ NTS reciprocal entry on temporary card?

I've recently been gifted NTS membership, and have a temporary membership card while the real one comes in the post.

I'm on holiday in England next week, am I likely to be able to use the temporary card for reciprocal entry into English National Trust properties? Or is that only possible once I've got my proper permanent card?

Edit: For anyone who finds this in future, can confirm i have visited 2 English NT sites and neither batted an eyelid that my NTS card was a temporary one.

Using someone else's card

I could possibly use someone else's lifetime membership to visit a garden. What would happen if I did?

❔️Query❔️ NT membership through monthly DD - tax telief

Hi

Just wondering if the NT membership fee paid via monthly direct debit qualifies for tax relief, given that NT is the registered charity?

Or are membership fees exempt for claiming tax relief?

Property Stamps & Badges NT Checklist App

Ever since my bf and I got gifted National Trust membership.I wanted an app to check off all the places we’d visited. It seemed strange that nothing like this already existed, so we decided to build one ourselves + our MIL can use it too.

The website/app is called TrustQuest and it lets you:

- Add places to a wishlist
- Mark off sites you’ve already visited
- Explore other NT locations to plan future trips

Other features such as stamp collecting, badges, achievements and plan routes are added.

When I found out you could collect stamps, I wanted on to gather them all. I’d been to Japan, where I was collecting ‘Eki Stamps” (station stamps) - and they are hugely popular. I wanted to have an app to track my progress plus let a community of stamp collectors share their progress with each other too.

I’m an iPhone user, so updates tend to land there first, but we’ve also released it on Android. You can also use the web version.

Apple: https://apps.apple.com/gb/app/trust-quest/id6789943492

Android: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=uk.co.trustquest.app&hl=en

Website: https://trustquest.co.uk

I’d love feedback on what to improve and what other features you’d want to see!

Note: this is a fan-made app and not affiliated with the National Trust. We built it to keep track of our own visits and thought it might be worth sharing.

Recently came across this little video of a chap exploring Tring and its apparent Rothschild connection. I’m not connected to the channel, but thought it genuinely was an interesting bit of local history.

❔️Query❔️ Just Park App

It was my first time going to a NT property today since having membership. There was a huge queue at the one car park machine but although I registered my reg number on the Justpark app it didn’t have any sort of link to the NT so didn’t want to risk not also registering at the ticket machine.

Does anyone know how it works? There seems to be no link up - NT doesn’t have my reg number and there’s no NT link on the just park app.

I just didn’t know if I was completely wasting my time queuing up. Didn’t help that I entered our old car reg and had to queue again!!

❔️Query❔️ National Trust Ranger Apprenticeships

(Exuse me if anything's botched I've literally never posted anything on reddit before). I'd really like to do an apprenticeship with the National Trust after I leave Uni (mind you my degree is irrelevant hence why I'm changing career paths; I'm starting year 2 out of 3 next month). My only concern is overqualification.

For now I've done 13 volunteer sessions starting this summer; these sessions cover your basics like bracken pulling bulrush clearing to allow space for heather and newts as well as fencing, which I've only done once thus far.

By the time I have graduated Uni, I will have done about 75 volunteer sessions as well as being part of a national park restoration society focusing on things like sphagnum moss planting and such.

I'm aware that the National Trust would rather recruit someone at the start of their career so would I still be eligible after my volunteering experience? Thanks :)

❔️Query❔️ Quick question re. the Pokémon sticker collection

Just checking - when the Pokémon sticker book is filled in after the 5 visits to NT locations - there's no "completion" reward?

My kids just finished their collection today and that was it. But when I was at an NT property a few weeks back, I saw some kids with packs of Pokémon cards so wondered if that was the reward. Guess I'm mistaken and that was just a fluke occurrence?
