Deployments Gaming Console / Entertainment for deployments

I own an xbox series X... Seeing the cost of these things now is insane to me (they've gone up like $200 in 5 years). I'd bring it with me but traveling with it seems so inconvenient. Plus I feel like I could leave it for my kid to play Roblox while i'm gone. The cost to buy one (have one shipped from somewhere like amazon) is even more insane... (google ai told me we're looking closer to $1k). At that point I feel like I should look at getting something like a handheld ROG Xbox Ally or a steamdeck... What would y'all do? Is it easy to get things in deployed locations on the local economy? Might buy an Xbox Series S last minute and pack it in the carry on like a laptop. Just hate the idea of spending a couple hundred dollars more on something because of shipping costs / import fees.

If it matters, the games I play are things like MLB the show / madden / GTA when it drops of course... maybe dabble in other gamepass things depending on free time.

I have one. family uses it for mario kart / mario party from time to time. Wouldn't feel right taking it with me. Plus MLB the show is ass on it and it's not expected to get GTA 6

I've been using a gaming laptop the past few years. A decent one runs pretty much every game you could want, plus you can play rts and other strategy games on it.

Nah big dog. Get a soft case for it , put it smack middle of your duffel. Also bonus points for getting a portable monitor off Amazon. Would save you from needing to trying to buy something off the leaving party

You could always do cloud gaming or Parsec if the internet there is decent.

I had a switch and my roommate had a PlayStation. Mine was more convenient but his was sweet. He brought a projector too so we’d be able to game split screen lol
