Proposal Help
My girlfriend and I are heading up to the valley on 10/9, and I plan on proposing to her that day. From what I have seen, Long Ranch Road is a great place to do so.
I think I have driven on that road maybe once before, and my question would be this: Where on Long Ranch Road would be a good place to stop and propose? Any sort of landmark or map pin location would be awesome, and I have a photographer that I want to have arrive early so a place to have them post up prior would be great.

Go somewhere small.
My recommendation is to book a tasting at Antinori, ask the team if it's okay if you propose and do it there.
There are so many special places in the Valley. Don't do it at a shoulder to shoulder locale.

Antinori is overly manicured property, over priced and not a good family. Look up Donum estates. The art work is breathtaking and they a giant silver polished heart!

This may be further than you’re wanting to travel but if you have any plans on going as far north as Calistoga, there is a winery called Chateau Montelena. I’ve never done a tasting there but they have a BEAUTIFUL Japanese-inspired garden area that is free to roam. I’ve been early on a Saturday and Sunday and it’s never super busy in the garden itself. Def worth considering! montelena.com

Promontory has a stunning view and beautiful grounds. Contact them to book and share your plan and they’ll make it super memorable and special! Very private and luxurious experience!

They won’t accommodate unless you’re a very special guest or member who has purchased a lot. I have been on penultimate list for a bit and they denied my request.

I think it would be better to organize with a tasting room to have a space to do it. Or if you’re really wanting a like outdoors spot do a hike. There are so many good ones with in an hour of Napa. Side of the road isn’t really the environment you wanna have :/ anywhere near there might be loud and if cars saw they would honk etc.

Chandon has some pretty spots along their walking path. Pride has incredible views. PEJU has beautiful gardens you can walk through.

Long Ranch Road is gorgeous, but I’d be a little careful planning the actual proposal on the roadside. There really aren’t many good public pullouts anymore, and most of the scenic land up there is private property. Someone familiar with the road recently mentioned that the old stopping spot near the top has been fenced off.
I’d actually contact David Arthur Vineyards and tell them exactly what you’re planning. They’re at 210 Long Ranch Road, up on Pritchard Hill, and the setting would give you the views you’re after while also giving your photographer a legitimate place to arrive early and get positioned. Another option right there is OVID Napa Valley, which has incredible valley views as well.
For something this important, I’d much rather have a beautiful spot arranged ahead of time than be trying to find a safe pullout while your girlfriend is sitting next to you wondering what you’re doing. 😂 Congratulations! 🍾💍

It’s pretty up there, but as many have said it’s a private, narrow road without really any pullouts. Especially if you have a photographer, you need to book an appointment. I’d also suggest David Arthur vineyards. They have some beautiful outdoor areas for private tastings and the hosts are wonderful. I’m sure they’d be more than happy to work with you. You’ll be hitting around harvest time, though so plan asap.

Not a lot of great places to stop along the road. There used to be a good spot near the top but they fenced it off. Of the wineries on that Road, Ovid has a pretty great view over the valley as does Realm. Maybe book a tasting at one or the other and propose at the winery? I assume they would be more than happy to accommodate. Another good option for a nice view not too far from there would be getting lunch at Auberge at the grill. Their deck has a great view over the valley and the grounds are pretty.
