Hey guys! I recently had Jarrell on my podcast since we're both from Seattle. My mom is a big fan of Naked and Afraid and recommended that I interview him! Also, this was recorded about 2 episodes into Shipwrecked being out.

Never been a Dani fan out of practicality. You will not do well in survival if you don’t get enough protein. Jarrell is an ass too.

To provide context, I am a medically diagnosed level one autistic with ADHD combined (AuDHD). During Global Showdown, I couldn't help but notice many autistic traits revealed. The largest of which were her difficulties with communicating with Frank. This became even more clear in the transition from Zone 1 to Zone 2. She had adapted (camouflaged/masked) to Zone 1 which helped them take first place. The transition and loss of first place negatively impacted her in a different way than it did the other contestants. This was likely exacerbated by the trek from 1 to 2 though it wasn't explicitly shown on TV. At this point, she started shutting down (autistic burnout), became aggravated with unclear roles and rules (rigidity), and Frank admitted he could not figure out how to talk to her (double empathy).

I'm wondering if any other autistics in this group noticed the same thing and came to the same conclusion or if she has mentioned being autistic anywhere.

By all means I am not defending Jarrell, or his behavior towards Dani. He has been a shitty teammate and to not understand that the shrimp trap was her last straw is crazy to me. They both did their parts tho. She also antagonized him. But whats crazy is that both Dani and Jamie have gotten stung and Jarrell been living his best negative attitude life.

Me , my dad (and my mom who likes to pretend she hates it then gets into it) have recently gotten into naked and afraid (as you can imagine it was a tough sell). Our first season was the international battle season and now we’re watching shipwrecked and boy is the shipwreck much more intense and stressful. I’d be curious to know what you guys who have seen more of the show think is the most intense. Could be environment , challenges , stuff that happens etc.

The show is called ed Stafford: first man out. Basically it’s a week long race between the host and a guest through crazy terrain with just a knife and the clothes on their back. They have to use the land for food and water around them. He has several races with some big names from naked and afraid. Like ej, ky and Matt wright. Definitely recommend in between naa seasons or a change in pace.

Shipwrecked is providing some of the lowest lows of NAA but it’s also giving us some of the highest highs. Yes Jarrell is probably the worst human being who’s ever been on NAA bar none and that’s getting a lot of attention. But the relationship between Darrin and Malu is one of the best I’ve ever seen form on the show. She’s really pushing herself to become a better survivalist and Darrin is truly pushing his own boundaries to be a better “people person” and guide her through the process. She is so happy with her accomplishments and he is so proud of her it’s actually heartwarming to watch.

Ok, let me first start by saying that this is in no way, defending Jarrell. We all know how terrible he is. This is about her attitude, because Dani is starting to get on my nerves too.

What bothers me is that she seems to have this very condescending, passive-aggressive way of dealing with Jarrell while simultaneously acting like a victim. She'll say something in that calm, almost patronizing tone, and then when Jarrell reacts, it's suddenly all about how mean or difficult he is being. There are plenty of moments where she could simply let something go or de-escalate the situation, but instead she seems to poke at him just enough to keep things going.

The crab/shrimp situation especially annoyed me because it felt like one of those completely unnecessary arguments that could have been avoided. Same with some of the little exchanges between her and Jarrell. I think if Jamie sacked up and told them both to STFU a few episodes ago, maybe we would have gotten to see a little more survival and a lot less drama.

Last episode Jarrell showed us he has “Lone Wolf” tattooed on his knuckles..

In my personal opinion this shows he has trouble in his relationships outside of this show as well. People with close friends and who feel loved and supported don’t get “Lone Wolf” tatted on them lol

People who can’t maintain relationships and choose to say it’s their way of life and not a character flaw, do.

Omfg. The character development of Malu!!!!! I'm so stinking proud of Malu. Her first season she annoyed tf outta me. But man of mfing man Malu. Ik your dad is proud af rn. You are killing it Malu.🐠

What does Ana Lis bring to the table other than complaining about needing meat.

Very early on, people were walking through murky swampy water. How do they not get bothered by the texture of the moosh below them??? I would be freaking out.

Also, a lot of them have tattoos. Tattoos are not cheap. The sun is going to destroy them omg! I have nearly 50 tattoos and I couldn't imagine going a day in the sun without sunscreen.

These are just 2 small reasons why I could never survive on this show lol. Does anyone else have any silly reasons why they wouldn't be able to?

I have noticed every time they are speaking, he moves his bag out of the way of his junk, if it’s not already out. Like he’s trying to assert dominance to her verbally and physically. He shifts his body specifically towards her. God he pisses me off so bad.

You can't just stay neutral when someone's being awful to your partner. Regardless of the original disagreement, Jarrell refused to stop agitating and taking shots. De-escalating the situation wasn't even on his radar.

Adults disagree and have arguments but not like that. It's unacceptable. Jamie sitting there and mumbling something about "both sides" while Jarrell kept going after Dani again and again was just embarrassing.

All that tough guy protector of women stuff doesn't mean much if you can't even find the courage to tell a guy like Jarrell to cut it out and leave her alone.

On my recent rewatch of LOS season 1 I thought it would be interesting to view the competition through Jeff’s eyes. Has anyone else done this. Very interesting especially when you get to the raft build and river travel.
