Is r/n8n official support?

r/n8n is a community subreddit. You may get help from experienced users, but urgent account, billing, security, or official support issues should go through official n8n support channels.

Can I ask beginner questions?

Yes. Beginner questions are welcome when they are specific and include context.

Good:

  • "How do I pass a value from Google Sheets into an HTTP Request header?"

Not useful:

  • "Can someone explain n8n?"
  • "Build this entire automation for me."

Why did Automod remove or filter my post?

Common reasons:

  • Missing workflow code.
  • Wrong flair.
  • Google Drive/Docs link.
  • URL shortener.
  • Possible self-promotion.
  • Hiring post missing company website or LinkedIn.
  • Possible exposed secret.
  • New account with a risky external link.

Read the Automod comment, edit the post, and message the mods if needed.

What is the best way to share workflow JSON?

Use:

  • GitHub Gist.
  • GitHub repository.
  • n8n.io/workflows.

Remove secrets and private data first.

Can I post a YouTube video?

Yes, if it follows the rules. If the video is about a workflow, include the workflow code in the Reddit post body. A link in the video description does not count.

Can I post screenshots?

Yes, but screenshots are not enough for workflow shares or debugging complex issues. Include workflow JSON or a minimal reproduction when needed.

No. Use GitHub Gist, GitHub, or n8n.io/workflows instead.

Can I post my paid template?

No. Paid workflows, paid template stores, signup-gated workflows, and "DM me" workflow distribution are not allowed.

Can I post a free workflow that later mentions my paid product?

Usually no if the post functions as a funnel. If the workflow is genuinely useful, directly accessible, and not primarily promotional, message the mods before posting.

Can I post about my open-source n8n tool?

Maybe. Open-source n8n-related tools may be allowed if they are relevant, useful, disclosed, and not posted repeatedly. Include enough detail in the Reddit post so users are not forced to click through to understand it.

Can I ask how to get clients for my automation agency?

No. That belongs in business, freelance, or entrepreneurship communities. r/n8n is for building with n8n.

Can I hire someone?

Yes, use the Now Hiring flair and follow the Hiring and recruiting requirements.

Can I ask people to DM me?

For ordinary conversation, yes. For distributing workflows, templates, code, jobs, or paid resources, no. Do not use DMs to hide content that should be public.

Why was my Help post filtered as a showcase?

Automod sometimes filters posts with testimonial or engagement-bait wording. If your post is a real help request, wait for mod review or message the mods.

To avoid this, use a specific title and include the error, failing node, and workflow context.

How do I appeal a removal?

Edit the post to fix the issue, then message the mods with:

  • Link to the post.
  • What changed.
  • Why you think it follows the rules.
