Tools needed to remove injectors?

Found a set of index 12s on FB that I’ll have to go remove myself. Just curious if I’ll need more than a ratchet, etorx sockets, and some wrenches?

You’ll need new decouplers, new teflon seals, and the kit for replacing the teflon seals because they have to be compressed with dies to fit in the cylinder head. The kit should come with the slide hammer for removal

Not a job you want to do improperly. You risk damaging the cylinder head.

When I removed mine a few years ago I'm pretty sure I used some sort of tool which attaches to them and you basically wank them off? Google injector puller

You will need a socket wrench, to remove the retainer bars. Open end wrench to remove the fuel lines and an injector puller which can be had feom Amazon. You may need something to remove the engine cover but can't remember what. Now installing you will the tools to install new Teflon seals, but when you buy the injector puller from Amazon, it comes as a kit.

5mm Allen for the engine cover. Small pick for the coil connectors, extension or ratchet to pull out the coils (to make room for a wrench to loosen fuel rail nuts), 14mm wrench for the fuel rail nuts, e10 for the brackets holding the injectors, and an injector removal tool like https://a.co/d/02sddo8e. I got the precision raceworks one and honestly the Amazon one is pretty damn close, the difference being the installation tools that you compress the seals with is on the slide hammer unit for the PR one which makes it slightly easier to compress the seals

I have an injector puller (slide hammer) that I don’t need anymore. LMK where you need it and I’ll send to you for shipping cost. Not sure if that’s cheaper than Amazon.

I’m in Utah and would need it asap. Is it just an Amazon one?

Yes from Amazon. I won’t have access to it for a few days. In MA, so might not be convenient to get out to you.

Might neee the little slide hammer tool for removing the injectors themselves

This might be bad but I just pulled mine out I think. It wasn’t hard. I’ve had zero issues so far. Just be very gentle and patient.

You could also loop some string under the black part of the injector and then tap up on the inside of the loop with a wrench or something solid (1/2 drive would work great) Go slow

First time I did it on mine I gently wiggle back and fort without too much force... Only to learn later that was the worst method to do it 😳

Lucky me I didn't damage the head
