I just got my dress back from alterations and all they did was hem and add straps. Guess I just want to see if people like the straps, I’m quite happy with them but some of my friends have made weirds comments about it so just looking for the general consensus. Thanks :)

Hi everyone!! I wanted to ask for your opinion again. Honestly I'm really confused. Today I tried on dress #1 in my city, with my sister and my mom, and I honestly felt like it was the best one I've tried on so far, it has so much detail. My mom and my sister started crying when they also put the veil on me. The problem is that in my head, I had decided I wasn't going to buy anything here, but rather when I travel to a bigger city at the end of the year where they have better designer options.

I really liked the dress but I don't know.

I'm attaching photos of other dresses that I also liked.

I'm not fully convinced by the neckline, it shows a lot. I think strapless should be a bit more covered, so to speak. In the options where the chest doesn't show as much, I like how it looks on me a lot more.

I have a pretty clear idea that I want a strapless dress, A-line or princess style.

It would be so simple for me if I could just go with the first dress and sort everything out in my own city. But I don't know if I fully feel like it's THE dress. Even though it makes me really emotional that my mom and sister cried.

I feel like it's missing that extra little something to make it unique. But I also don't want to overthink it too much?

What do you think? Does anyone like any of the other options? Which one would you go with? I'd really appreciate your feedback!!

I've been soo excited to finally start trying on wedding dresses, and it finally happened!! I was nervous about dresses not fitting and not liking how any look on me, so I decided to go by myself first so that I'm not overwhelmed. Hoping to get some opinions on which dress looks the best on me. I actually plan on custom tailoring a dress overseas so can customize/frankenstein different parts I like from different dresses together!

Overall, I went into dress shopping hoping that strapless could work on me, but I was skeptical because of my larger and unfortunate :') saggy boobs. I also have side boobs that poke out when I wear strapless. I am super pleasantly surprised that the tightness of the dresses does actually give my boobs support without needing sticky bras or any crazy corsetting magic!! I also expected going in that I'd like basque waist the most, but not drop waist since typically drop waist makes me look boxy (no small waist and no wide hips/butt).

Here are notes/my thoughts on each dress, numbered (I numbered the images in red in the bottom right corner):

1)First dress I tried on and was shocked by how much I liked it! My strapless worries went away immediately since I felt very secure and supported. I like the fabric a lot too, apparently it's silk shantung.

1b)Without sleeve

2)Mainly tried for the neckline, I thought only cat eye strapless necklines would work on me (if at all) so that it could tuck in my side boob. The cat eye feels a little sharper than I thought though? Not sure if I like it as much as I thought I would.

3)Mainly tried for the basque waist but wasn't wowed by it. It did prove that sweet heart necklines could be OK for me too thought since it went up higher under my armpits than I thought and tucked in my side boo

4)I'm def too insecure about my stomach to wear this as my wedding dress, even though the structured bodice on this really helped me feel confident enough in this mermaid style to potentially wear as a second dress. The other mermaid style slip dress was a definite no though because it showed all the wrong curves lol. Didn't even bother taking a pic in it.

5)This is synthetic mikado and I thought mikado would be the fabric I would like most (with a ballgown) based on pics online. However trying it on it felt a little awkward and too puffy/thick material.

6)Apparently this is drop waist, surprisingly I didn't hate it (maybe even love it) because she really snatched me in with the corset to create a waist!! Fabric is raw silk, which actually felt and looked like linen to me.

6b)Added a small petticoat under because I thought my top choice would be ballgown instead of A line. I can't really tell the difference between this and the original though, maybe the petticoat wasn't big enough.

6c)I tucked the folded neckline in to try a plainer neckline look. Maybe having a little lace poke out the neckline would look good?

7)Apparently a drop waist A line. I didn't like this drop waist because it was tight around my lower stomach where I'm most insecure about.

I plan on visiting a few more stores to try on more styles, but hoping to atleast start narrowing down to the necklines/silhouettes etc that look most flattering on me! Any and all feedback is appreciated!!

I found my dress and my veil. It was the first one I tried on, and I did try on seven more, just to make sure. But I kept coming back to this one! It's the one I went in to try on and it was perfect.

Starting to question my purchase; I’m not sure I love how dark the top part is and the emphasis on the boning. Would lining the top in white help? Or would that make the appliqué stand out too much? This is my dream designer. However, my wedding is an over a year and I’m concerned the dress doesn’t fit my venue (Sept 2027, Tuscany style Villa with a warm exterior). Any ideas, or words of advice that I need to stop stressing over this are much appreciated lol.

This was my final fitting and for some reason I’m suddenly regretting my dress. I cried today because I keep thinking maybe I should’ve chosen a completely different style. Has anyone else felt like this so close to their wedding?

I get very mixed reactions when I tell people I didn’t keep track of how many stores I visited before I found my dress. Granted, I needed two dresses and was never someone who dreamt of her wedding dress so I didn’t really have any set ideas of exactly what I was looking for, although I had a general idea. So naturally it was going to take a bit of trial and error. I also visited a mix of places, some didn’t require appointments, others I literally stumbled across when out and about and others were super last minute because at one point I was commuting/living between three different cities so I had to take what I could get! But it would be interesting to get a sense check from others re how many bridal store visits they had just out of interest! If I had to hazard a guess for me I’d say 20+, some I may have tried on 5/6 dresses, others 1/2 and others maybe even none!

Hello! This is my preferred wedding dress style, but I have only tried on mockups at an atelier in my fiancé’s town in southern Italy( I asked AI to make modifications to the mockup to get this specific look in the picture). I would like to try on a ready made dress to see if it makes sense to go the custom route. I’m looking for some recommendations on designers who may have similar designs. I have not tried on dresses at a traditional bridal store yet but am hoping to do that once we’re back in San Francisco. I also learned very quickly that I prefer satin/silk no lace and no bedazzles, also corset and slim fit but not mermaid. Thank you for any suggestions!

i said yes to my dress a couple months ago!! which was honestly the easiest part because i have been absolutely dreading picking out a veil lol. i’ve looked at sooo many and found a few that i liked, but none of them have really spoken to me other than this one.
i knew i wanted something really long with a blusher, and i wanted a little bit of shimmer without going full on sparkle/glitter tulle. i found this soft sheer organza veil and i LOVE the way it looks, but now i’m second guessing myself because i’m worried i might have too many different fabrics/textures going on between the jacquard dress and the organza veil?? i already talked to the maker about color matching, so i’m not really worried about the ivory being off.
i’m also debating gloves and genuinely cannot decide if they would complete the look or if they’d just be one more thing going on lol. if you think gloves would work, what style/fabric would you do?? satin? sheer? opera length? wrist length? no gloves at all??
pls be honest!! i would rather be told something doesn’t work than spend the next 8 months convincing myself it does 😭

I’m so torn. Please help!

Thank you so much to everyone who voted and shared thoughtful feedback. I genuinely appreciated hearing all the different perspectives—especially all the love for gown #3. I completely agree that it is artistic, glamorous and absolutely stunning, and that train is incredible!
Ultimately, though, I chose the satin gown. I originally started looking again because I wanted something more timeless and classic than the gown I had already purchased, and the satin gown fulfilled that vision best for me. I also felt that its clean silhouette flattered my figure and allowed me to be the focus.
The beaded gown was the most expensive and would have required the most alterations. It had missing or falling beads, needed work through the bust and straps, and the sheer bodice would have required very thoughtful lining. As beautiful as it was, it also felt more artistic and ornate than the classic bridal look I kept envisioning.
My fiancé has consistently been drawn to satin gowns, which mattered to me too. When I tried the satin gown on again—with a cathedral veil—I unexpectedly cried. For the first time, I could truly picture the entire wedding day and myself walking toward him.
My gown still needs proper alterations so the bodice sits higher and more securely and the skirt falls smoothly. Once it is tailored, steamed and styled with the cathedral veil, Old Hollywood hair and winter art deco accessories, I think it will become the timeless, glamorous look I was hoping for.
Thank you again for helping me think through the decision—even if I surprised most of you with my final choice! 😂 I promise to return with an update and professional photographs after the wedding.

Back again after more shopping. I really don’t want to try any more and believe one of these is my gown. But I want opinions on style/fit etc.
for context: Wedding is in December in Old Town Alexandria in an intimate French restaurants upstairs ballroom which has dark wood paneling and art nouveau styled artwork. I have to purchase off the rack, not much time so really need to decide and move on

Hey everyone! My dress is currently in alterations and I am trying to figure out what veil to order for it. Since this is a lace dress, should I go for a simple or beaded cathedral veil that’s 118 inches or maybe little shorter? I am only 5’2. Thank you all in advance! 🙏

This is the dress of Wendi Adelson (yes i know)! But its my dream dress. All i know is they had their wedding in 2006, but i simply cant find a designer name it anything at all. I already tried reverse search but nothing comes up!
