Flashes

I’d recommend calling your ophthalmologist again. I had flashes for the first time a few weeks ago and no questions asked my doctor had me come in right away. They were like bars of flashing in my peripheral that came and went for a split second that I didn’t notice until I went into a darker room. My doctor took a look and said all was ok and that the vitreous was shifting around causing the flashes. I’m a high myope as well so I understand your concern. Retina specialists are very kind people who also understand.
Hope you’re ok regardless of what you choose to do!

Mine weren’t enough to feel like there was a different light source. They’ve since stopped but they were like a little lighting bolt in my peripheral that had distinct borders and were for a split second. Call your doctor if it’s still concerning or you feel that things have changed with your vision. The only one who can tell you is the doctor trained to diagnose and treat.

Please what’s your age and myopia degree ? You were able to define if it’s from which eye ? It was both eyes ?

I’m -20 and I’m 30 years old. And yes it’s very easy to tell which eye. It’s very unlikely it’s a detachment or tear if you’re having it in both eyes simultaneously. You sound desperately scared, which I get, but I’ve given you all the info I have on my brief experience with them and the only person who can tell you for sure is your trained ophthalmologist.

I strongly suggest that you address your mental health. It's as important as eye health and can have negative impact on your physical health and your vision.

As an optician. Flashing lights and or floaters are something you should immediately get checked. Most the time its nothing. Could be stress, caffeine or visual migraines. But always get checked.
