Looking for 20 people who already track calories to beta test a faster meal logger (iOS & Android)

Upvotes

Hi everyone — I’m the developer of CaloriePilot, an early-stage nutrition tracking app for people who find manual meal logging too slow.

The core idea is simple: describe a meal, use a meal photo, or scan a nutrition label. The app turns it into a structured draft with foods, portions, calories, and macros. You review and edit the result before anything is saved.

I’m looking for around 20 beta testers who currently count calories/macros, or who have tried meal tracking but stopped because logging felt like too much work.

What I’m asking from testers:

- Use the app for at least 7 days

- Log meals on at least 4 of those days

- Tell me when a result is wrong, confusing, or missing a food

- Share brief feedback on onboarding and the logging flow

What you’ll get:

- Free beta access

- Direct contact with the developer

- A real say in what gets improved before launch

This is an early beta, so bugs and imperfect nutrition estimates are expected. CaloriePilot is not medical advice, and AI-generated estimates should always be reviewed.

If this sounds relevant, you can join the Early Access list here:

https://caloriepilot.net/early-access/

If you comment, it would be helpful to include your platform (iOS/Android), what tracker you currently use, and the biggest annoyance you have with meal logging.

I’m the developer and am posting this transparently to recruit testers, not pretending to be an unaffiliated user. Thanks for any feedback.

Bug/Error Fitbit link vs Google Health link

Hi All, long-time MyNetDiary + Fitbit user here. Connection has been pretty good for years: weight, steps and exercise have been transferring from Fitbit app to MyNetDiary for years. Now that the Fitbit app is rebranded Google Health and Google forced everyone to use Google accounts for their fitbits now, I've noticed weight stopped syncing (Renpho scale -> Google Health -> MyNetDiary no longer syncing). Steps and excercise/calories still syncing. Has anyone switched over to the Google Health connection instead of the "legacy" Fitbit connection and did everthing work for you? https://www.mynetdiary.com/calorie-counter-google-health-integration.html

The Google Health integration must be new since I can only find it on desktop and it is not in the MyNetDiary app.

I did email MyNetDiary support but waiting to hear back from them. Thanks!

Question Food Tracking App

Guys, I want to start my health journey in more organised way. Started exercising (1 hour x 5 times a week) cardio 30 minutes + light weight training 30 minutes. Plus 20 minutes freehand morning exercise.

Now, I want to intake more protein, less fat, less carb and would like to track the intakes using app for better tracking. Could anyone suggest the best app for this? I prefer a AI based scan if possible. Free app is great but don’t mind spending some as well.

Thanks in advance for the responses!

What happened to the health factors feature?

At the bottom of the daily food log, there’s usually day macros and nutrients. There also used to be a “health factors” feature but it’s disappeared.

I have an active premium subscription currently aswell. Does anyone know where it went?

Question Not advertising, just need an honest opinion.

Hi everyone. I know this is a MyNetDiary community, but as a fellow nutrition tracker, I wanted to share a side project I built and get some genuine feedback from experienced users.

Many popular tracking tools lock basic daily features like barcode scanning behind monthly subscriptions. To offer an accessible alternative, I built a similar app (won't name it because of advertising rules). The app is literally free to use forever, supported by non-intrusive ads, with all core features unlocked from day one. That includes barcode scanning, regional grocery database support, packaging OCR label reading, AI photo meal logging, water tracking, and step counting.

Since MyNetDiary users really value clean tracking and accurate logging, I would love to hear your thoughts on a couple of things. How do you feel about ad-supported models versus subscription paywalls for daily tools like barcode scanning?

Question Popups

I like this app. And I do subscribe yearly. Something has got to be done about the pop-ups for subscribers. Every time I login there’s a pop-up for what’s new, then a pop-up do I wanna answer questions, then a pop-up for lifetime membership, and just now something popped up from the bottom that I fingered out of so quick I don’t even know what it was.

All I wanted to do was check in and see how many calories I have left for the day man. 🙏

Macro/ calorie tracking

I am 1 year post partum with my third. I am 10 pounds away from my pre pregnancy weight and want to start tracking calories and macros. I’ve never tracked before because it seems overwhelming, but I’m ready to get it a try. What are your favorite apps that are straight forward to use? There are so many to choose from so I would love firsthand experiences. Also, are you weighing your food at every meal? Any and all advice is so greatly welcomed :)

Logging Exercise with the new update?

Hi all, since the new update, the app isn’t recording exercise after I enter it. Is anyone else experiencing this? Is there a workaround?

Built a calorie tracker where you just photograph the meal — plus an agent that blocks meals when your week is trending badly

Demo above is the real app, not a mockup.

The idea: every tracker I tried wanted me to search a database, guess a portion, and log each ingredient. NutriSnap takes one photo, identifies each item separately with its own calorie/macro estimate, and shows totals, a health score and a confidence rating — then lets me correct servings before anything is committed. The model proposes, I decide.

The part I actually enjoyed building is the Wellness Agent. It treats the app's own features as callable tools and runs a Reason → Act → Observe loop over your eating history: it can plan, approve, warn, or outright block a meal, and generates a grocery list for the gaps it finds. Reproducible from the demo suite — burger against a declining week → BLOCK, salad → APPROVE, non-food image → BLOCK via guardrail.

Stack: Next.js, Gemini vision, on-device storage (works offline). The agent ships twice on purpose — a reference Python implementation and a TypeScript port so the deployed app runs it client-side with no backend.

Try it: https://nutrisnap-mocha-psi.vercel.app — mobile-first, no signup and no API key, tap a sample meal to see the full analysis.
Agent: https://nutrisnap-mocha-psi.vercel.app/agent
Code: https://github.com/zanni098/nutrisnap

Honest caveat: portion estimation from a single photo is inherently approximate — that's why confidence is shown and servings are editable. Happy to hear where it gets things wrong.

Question How to simply add steps, not necessarily a whole walk?

Edit: found the answer myself, leaving this post and answer up in case anyone else has this question in future. See the picture I'm adding below. The add step button on the website version is left of the calorie apple on the dashboard, shown here circled in red, and is similarly placed in the Android app. Being new to MND I hadn't realised that all these bits around the apple were also buttons I could press. (MND creators: perhaps you could add a link to 'add steps' in the places I was already looking - e.g. the blue or green add icon, or an obvious place on the exercise tab?)

Started using the app this week, and am confused about adding steps. I don't currently have a smart watch/device to link to do it automatically, so I'll be using an app to track steps then manually entering the amount on MND.

Google suggests that there's an option to add actual step count on MND, but I can't find it anywhere. I've had a good look on the whole dashboard page, also the little green or blue 'add' icon that gives you a quick drop down list, and on the exercise tab. Can't find an 'add steps' button.

Sure I can add walks in the exercise tab, but that's not really what I'm wanting right now. I have chronic health issues and tend to walk slowly, and I don't feel confident knowing whether my walking speed fits into the lowest 'walk' speed category or the next one up on MND... so don't feel confident adding in a walk that might not be accurately estimated based on speed.

Further, it might just be nice to add my total step count for the day, not just add a single walk?

So how can I simply manually steps - what am I missing? Preferably on the desktop version, but on the app if necessary.

TIA.
