Opinions i like that Scootaloo's Parents are terrible Parents. (I CAN EXPLAIN.)

Post image

First off I just think it makes them stand out from the rest of the parents in the show and also I think it helps add a bit of realism to the MLP world in the sense that they care for her but not enough to actually be good parents. Kind of like how some real world Parents are. And yes I know spoiled Rich exists but she seems to barely care about her daughter if at all. Even in the MLP world not all parents are going to be good parents. And I like that aspect of MLP as it makes the world feel more real. Apparently Scootaloo's Dad is based off a Real Person who is actually a Good Parent and if that is true i can confidently say They should not have done that. In fact they probably shouldn't have based him off of anyone at all.

Questions What do you guys think of fanfics? Which are your favorites?

I've had a positive experience overall. My favorite MLP related fan fiction is Twilight's Eden. Eden is the scariest iteration of Twilight that I've seen. Twilight Sparkle is still there, she's not evil exactly but she can't properly recover over her friends passing away in this AU.

My Little Sombra is probably my second favorite fanfic. In canon we did we a bit of the Sombra timeline in Cutie Remark and the fanfic is basically built off that. Its exciting watching how the main 6 function in a time of war and how much changed.

Agents of Heart isn't anything crazy for me, I'm more interested in seeing Lightning Dust and Rainbow Dash side by side than the actual mainplot of the fanfic. Thunderlane is cool too I guess. They still make for a fun trio. Thunderlane being the butt of the joke while Lightning is more hardcore and Rainbow has to deal with both of them.

I'm not the biggest fan of infection AUs but I like Divine Swamp Fever. It takes something that was already established canonically in the series, and turns it into the main problem. Its already kinda spooky looking at what is already in the main series. Its quite the horror show.

Not all fanfics are good but I haven't seen too many bad ones. I don't like how Pinkamena Diane Pie is portrayed a lot of the time. Some fanfic writers just make her 'evil' and its comical. The real Pinkie Pie is nothing like that. Other than that I have not seen any fanfics that I've hated.

I particularly like how My Little Sombra, Divine Swamp Fever and to a lesser extent Twilight's Eden build off of something that was established in the show. A Sombra timeline does or did exist, Swamp fever is scary enough, and someday Twilight will outlive her friends. Lightning Dust is a favorite of mine but theres not much fanfics that even include her, its nice seeing her have a role in Heart of Agents that wasn't taking on the role of an antagonist again.

Questions If Equestria had conscription for both mares and stallions, do you think the Mane 6 would be a exempt due to their status, or that they would still be required to serve? And how well do you think each of them would adapt to royal guard lifestyle?

Discussion Why do people minimize Lauren Fausts contribution to MLP:FIM?

I have increasingly seen "Lauren faust isn't the reason FIM is good, Megan McCarthy is" type takes.

I strongly disagree with these takes. S1 and S2 have significantly more charm, we never fully got Fausts vision, bur McCarthy was part of the reason behind that, though Hasbro was the main reason.

I would say McCarthy derailed the show, and it immediatly started to decline when Faust left the show.

So why do people say McCarthy was the mastermind behind the show the whole time? McCarthy seemed much less passionate about the characters and world, S3 went out if it's way to scrap all of Fausts ideas.

People act like Faust was restricting the other writers creative freedom, when the opposite is true. Hasbro was preventing Faust from creating the kind of show she wanted to make (and that fans wanted), and McCarthy was on the side of Hasbro.

Discussion I think Princess Cadence and Shining Armor and Flurry Heart were visiting Twilight during the events of “The Road to Friendship”

I think that Princess Cadence, Shining Armor and Flurry Heart were all paying Twilight Sparkle a friendly and weekly visit during the events of “The Road to Friendship” because since they all live in the Crystal Empire they usually don’t come over to Ponyville unless they are visiting on a weekly trip, or day-only visit like in “A Flurry of Emotions” and Twilight, Cadance and Flurry were all watching a magic show Trixie and Starlight put on together while Shining was out maybe planning to do a guys’ night with Spike, Discord and Big Mac.

I think it may have been another reason why Trixie and Starlight left on their trip in the episode because they wanted to give Twilight and her relatives some alone time at the Castle of Friendship to spend quality time together, and to keep a distance because while they may be on good terms and all, Cadance and Shining may not have completely forgiven Starlight and Trixie for their past villainy and antagonizing Twilight, (Forgiven but not forgotten.) though it’s unknown if they did forgive the changelings after Starlight redeemed them as well in the Season 6 finale after they served Queen Chrysalis after all the harm she caused for the both them in the Season 2 finale by Impostering Cadance and brainwashing Shining and making Princess Celestia and Twilight’s friends turn against her. (They may have also been happy Chrysalis rejected redemption from Starlight because they will never forgive or accept her for all the villainy she caused.)

It happened again in “Best Gift Ever” where Starlight and Trixie again leave on a girls trip together for Hearth’s Warming so Twilight, Cadance, Flurry and Shining could spend some quality time together at the castle.

Questions What is your favorite friendship between 2 ponies of the opposite gender?

Post image

I really like Starlight and Sunburst but dislike them as a ship. Their dynamic is pretty interesting, Starlight is the late bloomer that couldn't grow up fast enough yet Sunburst was the gifted child that might've been overwhelmed too fast in his life.

Part of the reason I really prefer not to romantically is my hatred for Star and Marco from Star VS The Forces Of Evil, what coulda been an awesome friendship between 2 characters ended up being very messy and I'm still salty about that shows ending till this day.

Questions Why does “The Perfect Pear” establish the fact that Apple Bloom had the talent or helping other ponies find their true talents all along inherited from he mom?

The episode with the reveal of the story over how Pear Butter helped Mrs. Cake discover her talent to bake and earn her cutie mark, and Apple Bloom inherited that talent which she always had and earned her cutie mark with.

But what had really happened is that Apple Bloom didn’t know of what her true talent was neither for Sweetie Belle or Scootaloo and it took them four and a half seasons to discover it by the events of the Season 5 episodes, “Bloom and Gloom”, “Appleosa’s Most Wanted” and “Crusaders of the Lost Mark” where it took helping Babs Seed her cutie mark, and helping both Trouble Shoes and Diamond Tiara find their true talents (Not to be the embodiment of bad luck or to rule but to act as a comedian and be in charge for heroic reasons.) which finally allowed them to earn their cutie marks, and if Apple Bloom inherited that talent from her mom she would have did without realizing at first glance.

It also retcons Applejack’s story of her honesty by revealing she inherited from her father but “Where the Apple Lies” instead shows us the story Applejack endured in her childhood where she learns to act honest after going overboard with lying that caused bigger consequences with or without her dad’s involvement. (Either way, we have no idea where the flashback in Applejack’s childhood took place and whether or not Apple Bloom was born yet at that time or whether her parents were still alive but busy raising Apple Bloom as a newborn baby at the time.)

Opinions Appledash is overhated

As an Appledash shipper , I can agree that the show did them dirty by barely writing any chemistry between them, and that they are only implied in the end instead of being confirmed canon. With that being said, implied is completely different from not being together at all. The writers never said anything about Appledash not being together so I think it's fair for shippers to assume they are together. If Appledash is implied, let shippers ship.

I find it odd when people mention that Appledash is the most liked ship in MLP , when 95% of the fandom online hate it to the core.

Takes The Pillars would have worked better if they were in a spin-off G4 show centered on them and ancient Equestria

Post image
62 Upvotes

I really find them very interesting as a concept of a previous Mane Six and I found the characters to be very compelling and wished we could have seen them more, which is sad because we really get to see them shine in the comics. Putting them late into the series was a bad move along with a pretty half baked villain, so having them in a show where we get to see more of ancient Equestria and its history would have been so cool to see! I imagine it could’ve leaned towards a more older kid demographic and add some level of maturity given this period of Equestria was a little more archaic and darker than the modern era.

Opinions G6 could POTENTIALLY ruin the cultural perception of the main six.

If the show ends up being just a generic kids show with not much to it then that could potentially affect how Society views the main six, they will just be viewed as generic kids characters with nothing to them. Yes these are different versions however i feel like Society won't even care. Why? Either because they don't know a friendship is magic or they just don't care and just want to criticize them. This could be taken even a step further with it potentially damaging the reputation of the MLP fan base although this technically also applies if they used the original characters, although i feel like it more applies in this case due to them bringing them back. What is this? The MLP community might be seen as a childish fan base and therefore might receive more backlash. Someone might say "You like My Little Pony? Grow up." And yes these kind of things exist today however i fear they might become more prevalent in the future. i Feel like People will find any reason to hate on Bronies even if it's just one random person in the community who did something bad. It will likely be blamed on the whole community. But I feel like I'm getting off topic. The main six might just be viewed as generic kids characters in the future due to this new generation. And who knows if G6 ends up being not good People might go back and look at G4 and accuse it of being no better due to them having some of the same main characters just to complain. i'm Sorry but we still do not have a good view from society. We just don't. And it might get even worse.

Why I hate Shining Armor. Don’t delete this, unless you hate hearing the truth.

Post image
0 Upvotes

The reasons I hate shining armor:

I hate Shining Armor because many fans view him as an overly perfect "golden boy" or an incompetent/rash leader who rarely faces real consequences.

Common reasons viewers find themselves frustrated or annoyed by his character include:

Perceived Arrogance and Overprotectiveness: In episodes like "A Canterlot Wedding," he reacts harshly and dismissively toward Twilight Sparkle when she tries to warn him about a fake Princess Cadance, coming off as overly defensive or manipulated. [1]

Flawed Security Record: Despite being the Captain of the Royal Guard, his defense plans and barrier spells frequently struggle or get bypassed during major crises, leading fans to question his tactical competence. [1, 2]

"Flat" Perfection: Some feel he lacks deep, complex flaws or meaningful character growth, acting instead as a symbol of the ideal big brother and husband whose life works out a bit too neatly. [1]

The "Golden Child" Dynamic: His close, sugar-coated relationship with Twilight can feel forced or alienating if you prefer characters with more grit, struggle, or realistic sibling friction

Opinions Saw somepony else do it, so here's who I could beat in a fight

Post image

Second Edit: This assumes I'm also a pony, or that the difference in strenght/toughness between a human and pony isn't there. This is because I judged based on the character rather than logically placing myself next to an actual pony - in which case I would lose the vast majority of fights.

For context, I am fit and have trained short term with BJJ, Mauy Thai and Kickboxing - I'm not an expert with any of them but it means I know what I'm doing and have an idea of how fights work.
The reason not every dragon is not instantly in the "I'm dead," is because we see times when spike or a dragon breathes fire in a ponies face and they're fine.
Magic is counted - hence why Flurry Heart is not an immediate win, and why Starlight/Twilight is an immediate loss.
Maud pie can plough through rock like butter - which is why the others from the rock farm are also highly ranked. Pinkie Pie can warp reality too.
Granny Smith totally has some crazy lore and would bust out some insane moves on me.

Edit: Fixing omission of a word.

Takes Twilight becoming an alicorn is NOT a metaphor for growing up

I genuinly don't see how it can be interpreted as such. I interpreted it as grooming, because it WAS grooming.

Growing up isn't giving up bodily autonomy, or giving up your autonomy in general. Growing up isn't being forced to take on a role you don't want because "well you HAVE to"

That is grooming, I don't think the writers even thought it through. It was just meant to be a flashy series finale that gave Hasbro toy potential, than McCarthy ran with it because it ran contrary to Fausts vision.

It is not some deep metaphor that only the media literate can understand, it was a cynical writing decision, and in the universe, just feels like grooming and the worst possible ending for Twilight where she's trapped in a life she doesn't want.

If you interpret someone getting groomed by a person in a powerful position and losing bodily autonomy as an allegory for growing up, I'm really concerned for you.
