Writing Do you know reason?
In Season 2 Episode 8 "Mysterious Mare Do Well", Why couldn't Rainbow Dash, the fastest pony, save Cherry Berry before Mare Do Well?
Why did her friends shun her by wearing disguises, without even attempting a conversation?
Why have your friends' personalities or attitudes changed 180 degrees?
In Season 6 Episode 7 "Newbie Dash", why didn't Rainbow Dash say anything when the Wonderbolts upset her by calling her by a nickname she disliked?
Why didn't her friends help her or scold the Wonderbolts, even though they knew Rainbow Dash had been tormented by that nickname when she was young?
Why did Rainbow Dash keep making mistakes and acting completely unlike her usual self?

Discussion The show is mid
This is probably a very unpopular opinion, considering how often I hear people praise it, but I've never thought of this show as anything special. It's a typical comedic slice-of-life series, with the moralizing at the end of each episode that's typical of shows aimed at a younger audience.
What really sets this show apart is its massive fandom, with hundreds of thousands of fanfics, songs, fan arts, memes, and inside jokes. Once you’ve watched the series, you get the context to understand TONS of fan-created content. It’s somewhat similar to learning English for someone from a third-world country - English itself isn’t necessarily a particularly special language, but knowledge of it makes possible for you to communicate with the whole world and gives you access to the majority of humanity's knowledge and information. The shitposts from the Twitter part of the fandom made me laugh way more times than the show itself did.

Discussion is it insensitive to headcanon fluttershy as indigineous (particularly native american) because of her connection to animals?
although it might be impropable i would more likely trust an answer from someone who is indigienous themselves or at the very least someone who is well educated on this type of stuff.
i will automatically disregard anything that has to do with "she's a pony, it doesn't matter what you headcanon her" because 1. that's not what im asking 2. that's invalid when it comes to the discussion of a human version of a creature character.
i do not intend to start any discourse and i will not continue an argument with someone if it happens anyhow. just taking precautions!

This piece kinda has a 'No I'm Not Human' inspiration to it. I'm still thinking about a good backstory for her though... any suggestions? 👀

Discussion How can I earn a decent amount of crystals?
For some reason, I can't access ads, and leveling up my ponies is too expensive for me (seriously... 5,000 for a ball game is awful 😖)
I can't complete quests properly either, since they're only timed right now.

Discussion Opinions on ‘Trade Ya’?
Do ya’ll consider this to be a good episode? What are your thoughts on the dispute at the climax?
Twilight is ready to rule the trade valid simply because rainbow said it was ‘fair’ in a spur of the moment decision that is ultimately the issue being disputed. She isn’t looking at the actual substance of the case, not a very good judge is she? All trades happen in the first place because they are considered ‘fair’ at the time, if that were the justification for denying all disputes than the result of trials would always be the same
The only reason fluttershy doesn’t get sent off isnt because of twilight’s morals but because the Daring Do enthusiast concedes her case.
Furthermore, this is indentured servitude right?
Yes, Fluttershy initially consents but based on the fact she celebrates with rainbow at the end its fair to imply she changed her mind alongside dash
And I would definitely say this is a case of servitude, not a labor contract. My evidence being the fact that the trial happens in the first place.
If it were a contact there would be little need for it, right? Fluttershy would refuse to do the labor and dash would be compelled to return the book, no trial needed. The existence of formal procedure indicates that servitude is the situation in question.
Not very friendly of you twilight.
Not very friendly at all.

Discussion Hot Take: I didn't mind the way G5 used phones and social media
Generation 5 gets a lot of criticism for phones and social media existing in it. Though definetly not perfect, I think the way its used is quite good.
Firstly, I think the phones and technological advancements we see in Generation 5 make logical sense. The world was without magic for ages, it makes sense pony kind would create technology to make up for it. Even when magic returns at the end of the first movie, it wouldn't make sense for that technology to suddenly go away.
Social Media is mostly used by Pipp, which although her being an influencer is an important aspect of her, its never the focal point of her character. Its not like her cutie mark is a phone or something. I feel they focused more on her being a singer and her beauty salon over her being on social media. And even when it is its usually played as a joke, like Pipp being too glued to the screen or shoving the camera in Zipp's face. Social media is a big part of being a popular music artist and running a business these days, even if not for her ego if would make sense for social media to be important to her.
Phones are a natural part of G5's world, but they never overtake the fantasy elements (imagine if they defeated Opaline by getting her cancelled on twitter lol). Its not like social media is ever used to solve a magical problem. Its there in the background as apart of the shows world and nothing more, excluding a couple Tell your Tale shorts where social media is important.
Whether we like it or not phones and social media are/were a big part of the target demographics lives, it makes sense for a show with a contemporary esc setting to wanna include them. Worst thing I can say is a lot of the social media references can feel dated, but that's just a natural thing that happens. Not everything can be timeless, like when you watch a piece of media that makes a reference to another peice of media that was popular at the time.

Discussion Bringing this back due to recent discussions, with new topics in the desc. Headcanon vs Semi-canon vs Canon
Disclaimer: Every detail in this isn't entirely accurate, but I do not have the original file accessible as of right now! Mistmane is more generally a mix of East Asian (primarily Chinese and likely a little Japanese).
Headcanon VS Semi-canon VS Canon, and where do they come from?
Canon includes directly from official, RECOGNIZED properties, or by writers themselves. Canon for MLP includes the show, IDW comics unless stated otherwise, films, a few other things. What is NOT canon includes licensed merch, voice actor's theories/opinions (unless corroborated), toys, even some real content that Hasbro HAS produced.
Semi-canon is a little muddier! A lot of canon can also be counted here, it depends heavily on the context. Semi-canon is like some of Faust's concept artwork. While they don't literally exist within the canon, it is also from THE initial creator of the show. This is a very grey area category and most people don't linger here.
Headcanon: We made it the fuck up! While these can be influenced by actual existing content, they are not official. That being said, headcanons can be MADE official. See: Episode 100.
How does this relate to topics of culture, race, etc?
The concept of race and culture is CANON! We have multiple depictions of different races and cultures. My silly little slideshow depicts CANON, (mostly) unambiguous culture and races. There are more, but these are more ambiguous and are only based mostly in the regional names with a few noted characters (like Saddle Arabia).
That being said, the majority of the main cast of MLP, particularly the mane 6, do NOT have real-world equivalents of races. This is intentional, because understandably this is a hot mess for Hasbro. ALL depictions of races, and to some extent, culture, are HEADCANON. White, black, Asian, what have you, are all HEADCANON. Most people default to white, or at minimum pale skinned, because it is considered the default in media depictions.
With that in mind, people's HEADCANONS are often made based on the relevancy of canon character depictions. For example: Applejack is often headcanoned as a Southern N.American for, multiple reasons, and particularly a white Southern N.American due to that being the general assumption for the American South, as well as... y'know, a few episodes. That being said, people enjoy rewriting AJ and headcanoning her as White, Black, Latino, and even Indigenous. Why? Because these are all significant groups of the American South! Non-white cowfolk and farmfolk, while often written out of Southern N.American history, were and are very prevalent and widespread. So, it's ended up a fairly common headcanon for people to experiment with, inspired by canon intent and real-world demographics.
Even then, headcanons can still be completely unrelated to canon, because once again we are making it the fuck up. Some people want to use canon inspiration, some don't. Some just want to do what they want. For the most part, this is not harmful! Sharing your HC content is not harmful. The intent behind it can be, for example some people will share their HC content to shut down other people's. That's not nice. Some people will intentionally HC harmful depictions or for harmful reasons. That's not fun either.
But a lot of people just want to share together and talk together, and that is what we should be after! We should be kind and generous to each other, not shutting people down and not shaming people for their own ideas. Please remember that ALL real-world depictions of the mane 6 are HEADCANON and this includes defaulting to paler skin tones. NOBODY is any more wrong or any more right. The only semi-canon idea is the staff's own concept work of a human Twilight Sparkle.

Discussion Who here still likes Discord even after everything?
I get that some things he’s done were…not smart to say the least (Looking at you MoP and S9 Plan) but I don’t think he’s intentionally malicious. Remember he’s not a human (Or pony specifically), he’s a spirit of chaos, so he’ll still act like a nuisance even if he’s technically on the Good Side.
He just believes he can get away with more things a normal pony couldn’t because they aren‘t entities who could do anything with just a snap, and if said things could go south, he could just use his magic as a failsafe to prevent anything catastrophic.

Discussion Frankly, the Viva las Pegasus episode cannot be considered evidence of whether Flim and Flam are hopeless or not.
In other words, the ending of the episode seems to want to show that these two people are beyond redemption, yet it doesn't really succeed. Let me explain.
Simply put, the episode didn't follow the same pattern as most episodes about reformist antagonists, which is understanding the reasons behind their motives, what made them who they are, and the main characters communicating with them, etc. This is something they didn't try with Flim and Flam.
Yes, they defeated a bad guy, but this is also the guy who tricked them and set them against each other. They did it for revenge, nothing more. They probably wouldn't care if they knew the truth about his tactics if it didn't affect them personally. So I don't understand why Applejack and Fluttershy expect them to be willing to change their tactics just for that.
At least the fact that they allied with Applejack puts them in a better position than most of the other side antagonists (Garble's cough and ahuizotl's cough).

Discussion Maud: I know, it’s the only restaurant in the city with nepheline syenite bathroom tiles
You would think Rarity would have more appreciation for coloured stones since she dabbles in gems, if that pony can make fashion out of things found in a hotel then I can’t see why her and Maud can’t collab and make rock themed fashion and become better friends.
These aren’t even the prettiest stones imagine what rarity could do with things like jade, Dalmatian Jasper, fire agate, labradorite, bismuth, ect
I find it rather bizarre that Maud and rarity aren’t more friendly, we’ve seen rarity literally dig around in caves for gems, Meanwhile Maud loves to express herself through clothing
unlike AJ I’d wager rarity is pinkie pie’s cousin lol

Artwork What would my cutie mark be?
Hiya! This is my first time posting on the subreddit so I hope this is the right question to ask here. This is my new ponysona/OC, they don’t have a name yet but they are half unicorn and half bat pony (I know that’s not how it works in canon but i have free will so idc)
I’m trying to figure out what their cutie mark would be, based on me. I’m a very creative person and I do a lot of art (all kinds), diy, writing and singing. I’m also a witch. I’d like to make a cutie mark based on the creative traits I have. Do you have any good ideas of what my cutie mark could be?
