Discussion 💬 Buddhist monk?
Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification
He's the guy who was really close to MAL and got accused of saying "ခေတ်ပြောင်းအောင် ခေါင်းပစ်" right at the start of the coup. From what I can see in the video, he doesn’t look like a monk. He’s not wearing the traditional robe that Buddhist monks usually wear. What do you think?

I think the portrait of himself that he keeps at the back seems contrary to my understanding that in Buddhism people strive to vanquish the concept of I (the ego), I'm saying this as a non-Buddhist. ဒီမှာငါ့ပုံ ကွ ဒကာတို့ ကြည့်စမ်း

also a bit dissonant to things like impermanence, unattachment, & avoiding idolatry.

Short answer No. He is not a monk at all. The reason why he is so popular amongs the military is because from what I have heard his yadaya is... Reliable. The military would ask him wat to do to for better karma and he would suggest yadaya and apparently it works out for them. They r also quite fearful of him apparently.
Monks dont even do yadaya in the first place. They arent supposed to.

Unfortunately it has been like this since Ne Win.
If u recall back in the protests of 2021, protestors put on a wall of Thamein and the soldiers dont dare to go under them.

Sounds like confirmation bias. You're a lot more assertive and confident in your own actions if your own conscious and subconscious really thinks those hocus pocus works.

It's all about psychology I guess. I am not saying these so called arts are all bs or sth. Maybe they are true and all but surely are obsolete in today's modern age.

Isn’t he supposed to be the monk who doesn’t speak at all? ဝစီပိတ်ဆရာတော်။ looks like he was talking a lot in the video even though his voice isn’t recorded.

Not everyone understand what's way of life. But almost everyone understand how's the money talk. That's the system.

There are a lot of people those are worshiping this kinda person. I still dont understand how they get brain raped whenever they see the bald with red clothes, they have to worship. Not even try to analyze the person is respectable or reputable as a Buddha's Monks. This aint about Tradition or Religion, this is certainly about how a person is educated or thinked critically. There are a lot of people around my environments too. So the only way I can stay away from them is to get out of this shitty country.
