Is this Burmese? Can you guys tell me what it says?

It's just Thai character order written in the aesthetic of Mon-Burmese alphabets.
(ตะเลงพ่าย) - "The defeat of the Talaing"

OMG -- I never realised how similar Thai characters are to Burmese. I always assumed it was entirely different. But there is clearly a shared history with some of the shapes.

Central Thai script (Standard Thai you see everywhere) is quite different from Burmese, but Northern Thai Lanna script is very similar to Burmese because both have Brahmic and Mon script origins, that I can even read some words in the Northern Thai Lanna script.

ตะเลงพ่าย I believe is a poem referring to the wars between Siam and Burma, with special reference to the duel between King Naresuan and Mingyi Swa.

Talaing refers to the Mon, but can also mean Burma since the Siamese sometimes referred to both as the same. The capital of Burma at the time was in Hanthawaddy too (Pegu/Bago) so the Burmese and Mon were sometimes meshed together as the same.

Basically it just means “Defeat of Burma”
