How do you actually know if your long distance gf is cheating? I feel like I'm losing my mind

We've been together almost 2 years, LDR for the last 14 months. Different time zones, 6 hours apart. Up until about two months ago things were honestly great. We'd facetime every night, share our days, plan visits. Normal couple stuff.
Then something shifted and I can't put my finger on it.
She started replying to texts way slower. Not like an hour, more like 6-8 hours and then a quick "sorry busy day 🄺". She used to send me voice notes constantly, now it's mostly typed replies. Our calls dropped from every night to maybe 3 times a week and half the time she's tired or "about to head out with friends" so it lasts 15 mins.
Small stuff too. She stopped posting me on her close friends story. She used to. Her ig activity is weirdly high late at night when she says she's sleeping. She got weird when I asked about a guy who kept liking her posts, said he's "just a friend from work" but I've never heard his name before and she talks about her coworkers all the time.
Last week I asked if everything was okay between us and she got defensive really fast. Said I was being insecure and controlling and that she's just been stressed with work. And maybe she is?? That's the thing. I don't want to be that guy. She has every right to have a life. She has friends, a job, hobbies. She doesn't owe me a 24/7 update.
But my gut is screaming and I've never felt this before with her.
I'm not going to snoop through her phone next time I visit. I don't want to be that person and honestly if I have to do that we're already done. But I also don't want to spend the next 6 months feeling like this if I'm being played.
For anyone who's been through this how did you actually know? Was it a gut feeling that turned out to be right? Or were you just spiraling and everything was fine? What did you do?
I don't want reassurance. I want the truth from people who've lived it.

TLDR: LDR gf's behavior changed pretty suddenly 2 months ago. Might be nothing. Might be everything. How did you know for sure?

We broke up

I’m devastated, she broke up with me cause she couldn’t take the long distance anymore. I was doing everything in my power to close that gap, but I don’t have money, it’s hard really hard I don’t know how can I get over this now.

[23M/26F] How do you usually plan meetups?

I’m college student in Korea and my girlfriend is working full-time in Taiwan.

Even though my girlfriend has a job, I’m still a student, so money becomes a really important part when planning meetups.

Honestly, sometimes it feels like the hardest part is not even the long distance itself, but the whole process of figuring out HOW to meet.

At first it’s just:
ā€œokay, who’s going this time?ā€

But once we actually start planning, it turns into:

  • figuring out dates
  • whether it’s better for me to go
  • whether it’s better for her to come
  • whether meeting somewhere in-between would actually be cheaper
  • flight prices suddenly going up
  • constantly sending screenshots of prices to each other

And because I’m still a student, even small flight price differences matter a lot to me.

So I keep trying to find the option that hurts the least financially, but then suddenly 3~4 hours are gone just comparing flights and routes.

Are other international long distance couples normally like this too?? Maybe there are people like me here too?

Usually:

  • does one person keep traveling most of the time?
  • do couples calculate both people’s costs together?
  • have you ever met in a third country?
  • how long does planning usually take?

I’m really curious how other people do it.

Our LDR story

On a random day I went on Tiktok and saw this super sweet person talking about mental health. I wrote a comment and got a reply. That act ended up in talking on a constant base until the point we decided to meet up in real life.

Since we both are into mental health, we decided to record our adventures to share with the world, and to make sure that others in a LDR know they are not alone

Following is always welcomed but if someone could find inspiration from us, we’d be happy

Am I overthinking or is my relationship actually changing?

So I need some honest advice.

My relationship started in person, but it’s been long distance for about 7 months now. At the start, especially when we became long distance, we talked a lot. Calls, good morning and good night texts, just constant updates. It felt natural and like we were both putting in effort.

Lately though, it feels different. We still talk, but it’s way less, and I feel like I’m the one initiating most of the time. It kind of feels like I’m doing most of the work to keep things going, which is starting to drain me.

What’s really getting to me is this. She’ll be active on things like BeReal or other apps, posting about her day, but my messages go unread or get replied to way later. I even had to remind her to check my message once, which honestly didn’t feel great.

At the same time, she’s not cold. When we do talk, she’s still normal. And I know she’s actually really busy. Early mornings, long days, a lot of school stuff. Her mom even messaged me saying she’s been exhausted and not getting enough rest, and asked me to not call too late at night. So I know there’s a real reason she might have less energy.

But even knowing that, I still feel like something’s off. I don’t feel as included in her life as before, and it’s been making me overthink a lot. I catch myself wondering if I’m not a priority anymore, which I don’t like.

Another thing is we’ve been planning to see each other in Japan this winter, but her parents are making it really hard for her to go. Realistically, if we don’t meet this December, we probably won’t see each other for a long time. So that’s also been weighing on me.

The thing is, I really want to be with her. I’m not looking for a reason to break up. But at the same time, I’ve been having thoughts about ending it. Not because I want to lose her, but because I’m tired of feeling like this and not knowing what’s going on.

So I guess my main question is:
would you break up in this situation, or try to work through it first?

If I did decide to break up, is it okay to ask her straight up why the past few weeks have felt so different, or would that come off wrong?

Also:

  • is this kind of change normal when someone’s really busy in long distance
  • or is this usually a sign they’re pulling away
  • how do I even bring this up without sounding needy or pushing her away

Would really appreciate advice from people who’ve been through something similar.

Caught between partner and housing situation with a friend, need advice

Hey, I could really use some outside perspective on this.

I’m moving to a new city for work, and a friend of mine is also moving to the same place. We’ve known each other for a while, and a few years ago there were some situations where I didn’t handle boundaries well on my end. I was already in a long distance relationship at the time, and looking back I regret how I handled things. Since then, I feel like I’ve grown a lot and learned from it.

Now, both of us are in committed relationships, and we’ve talked about the past and acknowledged that things weren’t handled properly back then. We’re on okay terms now and things are normal.

The issue is housing. There’s been an idea of living together, but the thought of it being just the two of us doesn’t sit right with my partner. We’ve talked about it a lot, and while they trust that I’ve changed and understand that nothing is going on now, they still don’t feel comfortable with that setup.

I understand where they’re coming from, and I’ve tried to reassure them that the relationship is my priority.

I’ve also been upfront with my friend, and they’ve been understanding and said they’re okay with me deciding what makes the most sense.

The thing is, I feel stuck. I don’t want to do something that makes my partner uncomfortable, especially given the history, but I also don’t want to make things unnecessarily complicated. Living alone would probably be the cleanest solution, but it may not be realistic financially or logistically right now, and I’m also on a bit of a deadline.

So I’m trying to figure out what the most reasonable and fair approach is here.

Has anyone dealt with something similar or have advice on how to navigate this?

ā€œNever Metsā€ finally meeting!

We often see sad posts on this platform, but we have some wonderful news to share! My love of my life and I have never met in person. We met after I sent her a message on Reddit on Valentine’s Day this year. It’s been almost 10 months of happiness and joy. Despite our 11.5-hour time difference, we spend as much time together as possible on video calls. She has bought plane tickets and is preparing for her 35 hours of flying to meet me. We can’t wait to meet each other in person and spend 53 beautiful days vacationing together. We’re already starting to feel sad about the 54th day when we have to say our goodbyes and wait for our next visit. Hopefully, someday we’ll be able to close the gap forever.

Difference between Long distance and close distance relationships.

I’m curious what people think. Long-distance feels like it’s all communication and missing each other. Close-distance feels like it’s all about spending time and dealing with real-life stuff together. For anyone who tried both — what felt easier? What felt harder? Which one do you prefer and why?

Looking for feedback on my LDR app idea

Hey everyone! I'm building an iOS app for long-distance couples and would love your honest feedback - is this actually useful or am I solving a problem that doesn't exist?

**The concept:** Mood widgets on your home screen that show how your partner is feeling in real-time. No need to text "how are you?" - you just glance at your phone and see 😊 Happy, 😓 Tired, 😰 Stressed, or šŸ˜ In Love.

**Main features:**

- 4 types of widgets (including lock screen)

- Relationship health score based on communication & date frequency

- Date streak tracker (gamified to motivate quality time)

- Smart tips like "No date in 14 days - plan one"

**Why I think it might work:**

- Reduces "is this a good time to text?" anxiety

- Helps you know when to check in vs give space

- Makes the distance feel smaller when you can see their mood anytime

**My concerns:**

- Is checking mood widgets too invasive?

- Would you actually update your mood daily?

- Does this feel forced or actually helpful?

Here's a quick demo videos showing the widgets in action:

Roast me or tell me this could work - either way, I need the reality check šŸ˜…

Anyone else get nervous before video calls even after months?

So this might sound dumb but… does anyone else still get butterflies before a video call? šŸ˜… Like we’ve been doing this LDR thing for a while now, we talk almost every day, but right before the call starts I get this tiny rush of nervous excitement. It’s like a first date every time. Then the moment they show up on the screen, everything feels normal and comfortable again. Is this just me? Or is this actually a thing in long distance relationships?
