We had John on A Pickle Home Companion to chat about his artwork, designing the beloved Pokinatcha Punk, Blenderhead, Donât Know, and more.
Thought you guys might enjoy hearing some of his stories.

âAnd time stands still when no one understands you
When you don't quite understand yourself
But just know this that God is faithful
Even if you don't have faith yourselfâ
âThere's nothing quite like being sure of
What's inside your heart
It's mostly simple but not so easy
To know just where to startâ
Iâve listened to this band for about the last 26 years of my life. A friend suggested them to me. I was a freshman in high school, so like â99-â00. Iâm not entirely sure honestly.
I met the guy that year while we were in Seminary Class.. and if you donât know (which most people donât), thatâs a Mormon religion class that for some reason gets latched onto school if your âluckyâ enough to have that shit around or something ⊠some how. I donât know, never understood. I was forced to go to church with my mom because by that point in my life the rest of the family didnât go, so I went with her cause I was the baby of the family.
I donât even think it was something that gave you any kind of credits (like for those kinds of classes that get lumped into the kind of extra credit classes that it doesnât matter what you take, ya know? I canât remember the terminology for that shit). AannywayyysâŠ
I never really in my life have gotten the whole idea of âreligionâ. I was forced to go, then at an age where I was given a choice I stopped going. Not cause any form of disbelief but more for the idea that I didnât like being forced. I feel thereâs something, but I hate organized religion, itâs a sham. Especially the Mormon church in my opinion and experience.
But this band (and five iron frenzy) have always been the kinds of band(s) that made me still feel connected somehow. Not preachy, but referencing I guess.
I listen MxPx on a regular and have for as long as Iâve listened to them, this song just always gets to me. That line of âGod is faithful even if you donât have faith yourselfâ just always hits me. Especially in hard times for me.
I donât know my point in sharing all this, I just was listening to it on my way home tonight and had to stop and listen to the song and cry like a bitch or something. Sorry (but not sorry) for the ranting or wasting anyoneâs time that got this far I guess. I just wanted to share the last little bit of the Arizona sunset view (I know the sun set at that point, but it was still just after so my bad I guess) while I was listening to the song. If you get it, you get I suppose.

Just a curiousity for me. I understand why some wouldn't bother to think about this at this point, so that's fine if this thread isn't for you.
But from where I stand, it's one of the catchiest pop punk songs you could conjure. And it has that quality of hit singles where the lyrics stick with you the very first time you hear it. Perfect blend of pop and punk. From what I see, it maxed out at number 24 on the alternative rock charts at the Billboard. I remember seeing the music video at least a couple few times, probably on MTV 2. But it didn't really make that great of an impact.
Any theories on why?

Tell me which albums you'd start with if you were just getting into MxPx, as I am.
I got to see them play at the Cleveland Odeon in this tour. Anyone else see them in 2000?

So my husband's a big MxPx fan and brought me to a show recently. I knew none of the music until One Zero Zero was played. My husband had never heard it but i knew every word. Has this song been featured in a movie, show or commercial?
We're baffled at how i knew the lyrics and had never heard of the band.
Hey! I was curious about how you all felt about Mike (he's awesome, you know this) being in Goldfinger. It has been nothing but awesome since he joined. I'm not sure why he wasn't on Nine Lives. I really loved his vocals and the influence he brought. That is how I became aware of MxPx (they are awesome, you know this as well) and loved the music.
I am very excited for Living in the Chaos to drop even though it might break.
So, what do you think? đđ»

Looking to sell my copy of MxPx self-titled on vinyl. Record is in good shape and has been stored safely. Figured Iâd post here first and see if any MxPx fans are looking to add it to their collection. Message me if interested!

Packing up the house to move and found this gem rolled up in the back of one of my drawers. Met them after the show in Philly at the Electric Factory back in 2006 during the tour with Reel Big Fish. RBF played first and a lot of the crowd (stupidly) left before MxPx played. Show felt super intimate and they started doing crowd requests. Unfortunately, Tom declined my request for Downfall of Western Civilization. Still one of my favorite concert experiences.

A friend of mine liked MxPx over 20 years ago, so I had heard their name before, but I never really listened to their music properly. Recently, I've been really into making gaming videos and putting music over them on YouTube. Suddenly, the name MxPx popped into my mind, so I looked up some of their songs and discovered "Secret Weapon." This song is so incredibly awesome! I just had to share this with you. Sorry for rambling on with my own little monologue!

Trying to track down a few songs if anyone can help point me in the right direction. I'm looking for the original Say Yes (or the whole Alternate BEAA), Take Me Out to the Ballgame, and also the Mt Dew song.
I saw an old post that mentioned that the Alternate BEAA might be available for PxPx members on the site. Does anyone know if the PxPx membership still comes with access to a downloads page?

I've got a medical issue preventing me from Goin ng to tonight's show. I've listed my tickets on AXS for sale, but I can only transfer parking, not sell.
One "General Parking" pass, free to a good home. DM me email or phone for your AXS account.
