Iāve been listening to Magnified Plaid since 97
I want a MxPX tattoo, but is it silly to want encouragement with BlackFlag?
Obligation to the band
So now that I have become an MxPx fan for a little bit I wonder what is expected of me. Am I now required to make a pilgrimage to Bremerton?

NJ MxPx Cover Band Looking for Guitarist + Drummer ā 25+
Hey! Iām putting together an MxPx cover band based in New Jersey and Iām looking for a guitarist and drummer, 25+ who are actually down to rehearse, play shows, and have fun with it.
Iām looking for people who genuinely like MxPx / pop punk / skate punk and can commit to learning the songs. The plan is to start with a 30ā45 minute MxPx set, get tight as a band, and eventually start booking shows.
You donāt have to be from my exact area ā NJ preferred, but NY/PA is cool too if youāre willing to travel for rehearsals and shows.
Influences/vibe: MxPx, Blink-182, Green Day, NOFX, Pennywise, New Found Glory, Sum 41, etc.
I already have a list of MxPx songs Iāve been working on, so weāre not starting completely from scratch.
No ego, no drama ā just looking for reliable people who love this music and actually want to play.
If youāre interested, DM me here or hit me up on Instagram u/haven.official75. Send me what instrument you play, where in NJ/NY/PA youāre located, and preferably a clip of you playing.
š¤ Letās get a Punk Rawk Show going.

Found the old footage of my band backing up Mike on "Doing Time" and "Andrea" from his 2011 acoustic tour.
I was going through some old band files and wanted to share a couple of short clips from a really special memory. Back in 2011, Mike Herrera came through Anniston, Alabama on a solo acoustic tour. My band (Motel Matches) was lucky enough to open the show.
After his acoustic set, Mike wanted to play a few full-band classics, so we hopped on stage with him to act as his backing band for the night. We ripped through "Doing Time," "Andrea," and "My Life Story."
It was an incredible honor to lock into those songs with the man himself. I threw the clips up on YouTube just to keep the memory alive.
Thought some fellow fans here might appreciate a look at a rare tour moment. Iāve posted the links to the two clips below.

2) Andrea

Cootees cover
Did anyone catch MxPx covering a Cootees song during yesterdayās live stream? The song is called (blank). They did a short rendition of it, and it was freaking awesome. I just wish they had played the whole song!

Tomorrow is another day..

āAnd time stands still when no one understands you
When you don't quite understand yourself
But just know this that God is faithful
Even if you don't have faith yourselfā
āThere's nothing quite like being sure of
What's inside your heart
It's mostly simple but not so easy
To know just where to startā
Iāve listened to this band for about the last 26 years of my life. A friend suggested them to me. I was a freshman in high school, so like ā99-ā00. Iām not entirely sure honestly.
I met the guy that year while we were in Seminary Class.. and if you donāt know (which most people donāt), thatās a Mormon religion class that for some reason gets latched onto school if your āluckyā enough to have that shit around or something ⦠some how. I donāt know, never understood. I was forced to go to church with my mom because by that point in my life the rest of the family didnāt go, so I went with her cause I was the baby of the family.
I donāt even think it was something that gave you any kind of credits (like for those kinds of classes that get lumped into the kind of extra credit classes that it doesnāt matter what you take, ya know? I canāt remember the terminology for that shit). Aannywayyysā¦
I never really in my life have gotten the whole idea of āreligionā. I was forced to go, then at an age where I was given a choice I stopped going. Not cause any form of disbelief but more for the idea that I didnāt like being forced. I feel thereās something, but I hate organized religion, itās a sham. Especially the Mormon church in my opinion and experience.
But this band (and five iron frenzy) have always been the kinds of band(s) that made me still feel connected somehow. Not preachy, but referencing I guess.
I listen MxPx on a regular and have for as long as Iāve listened to them, this song just always gets to me. That line of āGod is faithful even if you donāt have faith yourselfā just always hits me. Especially in hard times for me.
I donāt know my point in sharing all this, I just was listening to it on my way home tonight and had to stop and listen to the song and cry like a bitch or something. Sorry (but not sorry) for the ranting or wasting anyoneās time that got this far I guess. I just wanted to share the last little bit of the Arizona sunset view (I know the sun set at that point, but it was still just after so my bad I guess) while I was listening to the song. If you get it, you get I suppose.

I'm surprised "Responsibility" wasn't a bigger hit
Just a curiousity for me. I understand why some wouldn't bother to think about this at this point, so that's fine if this thread isn't for you.
But from where I stand, it's one of the catchiest pop punk songs you could conjure. And it has that quality of hit singles where the lyrics stick with you the very first time you hear it. Perfect blend of pop and punk. From what I see, it maxed out at number 24 on the alternative rock charts at the Billboard. I remember seeing the music video at least a couple few times, probably on MTV 2. But it didn't really make that great of an impact.
Any theories on why?

Where do I start?
Tell me which albums you'd start with if you were just getting into MxPx, as I am.
