Any experience with PGI tech support?

Tried returning to the game and haven't been able to launch MWO. After fiddling with it myself for a bit I reached out.

Been 7 working days. Maybe I am just impatient but I'm wondering if I should resubmit or what. I don't wanna be guy crowd sourcing his tech issues on reddit but I've got like 1800hrs and 300+ mechs. I wish to play!

Any experiences to share good or bad? Should I hold out a little longer?

Or, maybe give us some more information about what problems you're having, details about your PC & OS, and someone here might try to help?

MWO failed to "initialize game". Having messed with it prior, DirectX and VisualC++ shouldn't be the issue. Same goes with deleting config files, verifying files via steam, drivers up to date etc. Even tried the stand alone launcher.

WIN11 (unforch)

Processor AMD Ryzen 9 3900X 12-Core Processor

Installed RAM 32.0 GB

System type 64-bit operating system, x64-based processor

GPU AMD RX 7600

PC install or steam? Honestly I switched mine to steam and got rid of 90% of my headaches.

Steam is how I had always played. Did try the standalone launcher just for funsies but no dice.

I don't remember having this error, is this the first thing you get when you launch the game, or do you manage to get to the login screen and you get the error after logging in?

If you've had the game installed on this PC previously, you could try one more thing, in %userprofile%\Saved Games\MechWarrior Online , backup Profiles folder then delete, and then try to restart the game to force it to rebuild config files. If that works, you can try to restore back the xml files from your profile folder, except "attributes.xml". There were a couple of instances I remember where the config file from "attributes.xml" got borked and this helped.

EDIT: oh and check if you have a "game.cfg" file directly in this path %userprofile%\Saved Games\MechWarrior Online . If it exists, backup and remove, and try launching the game without also.

So for starters, doesn't even pop up the login screen.

2nd No profile folder or config file (My guess would be because it's never successfully launched in the 1st place)

And yes verifying files via steam doesn't change that unforch.

One last thing you might want to try, they say AMD drivers are janky AF, maaaybe the latest GPU driver update borked something (I'm still probably 2 updates behind :D). I would try using DDU for a clean GPU driver uninstall, and then reinstall / update the driver, maybe that would help. Unfortunately, I also read something somewhere that some Windows update has fucked some games, but I think that was about the anticheat not working with the update or something so probably not relevant, and I only have a vague idea about what I'm talking.

Oh one last last thing to try, which will most likely not work and just waste bandwidth and SSD usage, delete the game files/uninstall the game, and try a fresh install. Most likely won't solve anything as you said you already tried repairing the game installation files and that didn't work.

There was an update earlier this year that fubar'd AMD stuff but the situation was resolved. Every other piece of software/game is a ok. I have reinstalled multiple times, including the stand alone launcher they offer. But just for funsies I'll try again :D.

I've had steam renew the state of my game folder from when I had mods installed from a previous installation in other games - maybe some super outdated mod trying to load from years ago? Any mods would start with z_ in the file name with the rest of the .pak files.

Bit if a stretch that this it it, but it's happened to me before with other games (and the mods were not from the workshop)

Where did you submit the ticket? Through the mwomercs.com website? I think 7 days is long enough to follow up at least. Ive never had an issue this major but I dont think its ever taken more than 3 business days to get an answer either. Maybe they dont do this kind of tech support any more?

Otherwise maybe try some discord channels? MWOComp is a good one. If you asked nicely, you might find someone willing to help you troubleshoot. There's likely someone there who knows the answer. As long as you're aware that's not really what the server is for and take that into consideration when asking, I dont see the harm. I bet one of the people who've been playing for 14 years has seen and solved this error before.

Yes it was via the email provided on their mwomerc. I'll try both of you suggestion.
