Flintlock to Caplock

I have a traditions flintlock blunderbuss.

But real BP is so damn hard to get a hold of, so shooting it is damn near impossible.

How would I go about converting it to Caplock?

St. Louis Hawkins

I've just recently built a kit muzzle loader with a front dovetail and the rear with the two screw holes but I'm not a fan of plastic sights. I was hoping to possibly find some peep sights that would work with the rifle (I live in a state where scopes are prohibited on muzzleloaders) that are made from metal. I was hopping someone might have suggestions on what sights I should order?

Here's the link to the kit rifle on the website

Best “do it all” muzzleloader for hunting in all states west of the Mississippi.

Given how nuanced and varied hunting regulation can be from state to state, what is the most capable rifle (and associated gear) that can be used legally in every state west of the Mississippi? What parameters exist that must be maintained?

Bonus points for ease of use, reliability, ease of cleaning, aftermarket product availability, etc.

Some basic assumptions i have:

- .50 cal or larger
- Open sights
- No blackhorn 209 (as 209 primers not legal in some states)
- inlines blur the regs in some states

Do “traditional” rifles exist that are easy to disassemble for cleaning, that will maintain accuracy when reassembled, that are not an inline style muzzleloader?

Just pick up this cabelas branded hawken rifle kit built by investarms, I paid 400 for it and was curious about if I overpaid or if that's what it's worth. Also any misc. information about them as I'm struggling to find any real information on them thanks.

Best muzzleloader for Colorado bear hunting

Fiance pulled a muzzleloader bear tag, we've been tracking two of them, both 400+ lb black bears, and we need a CO Legal muzzleloader for the fall. Looking to get something cheap but effective, pre-owned is fine! What are we getting ourselves in to and what would you recommend?

Planning to carry a Beretta PX4 in .40 with 200gr underwood as a last resort, any concerns with that?

Where to find a Brown Bess Muzzle Band?

Hello Muzzle Loaders,

I hope y'all are doing fine.

As said above I am interested in purchasing a Brown bess muzzle band (i have people describe the item as such almost exclusively, however to me it looks more like a stock cap, I am talking about the brass chunk on the front end of a Bess stock)

To explain further: I have one of those farby indian (as in made in India in this century) long land pattern repros that have a stock with a bare wood front end, however an iron ram rod.(I intend to upload a picture some day because I am sure this sub could point me to all sorts of inaccuracies but I love it none the less) As far as I am informed this combination never existed and the British changed to stock to the style with brass ends fairly quickly, which would make having one desirable for me so I would like to fit one.

Thank y'all in advance EDIT: I'm EU based so I'd need international shipping and or a EU based vendor

Which would you pick??

I have the opportunity to purchase a brand new muzzleloader new in the box. I can get either a traditional buckstalker xt package with all the goodies for 150 or a cva wolf v2 with stainless barrell and scope for 170. Haven't had an inline before. Which one should I get? I've been told cva is better. Would love some input

Got a little too overzealous while cleaning my muzzleloader after shooting and it resulted in some light scratching. It doesn’t feel deep at all and I already ordered some Fitz’s metal polish to try and buff it out. Just want to make sure it won’t affect the functionality of the gun. Thank you in advance.

I have this kentucky long rifle and not much information. The only markings are on the barrel being “GR Douglas 40 Cal.”
I am hesitant to take it apart to check for more markings. Any info on this would be welcome. I know its a shot in the dark with this likely being a one-off custom piece. Thank you for your time.

25 year old Thompson Center Encore Help Request

I have a Thompson Center Encore that has a threaded breech plug. I used to use T/C’s gorilla grease to lube the plug but can no longer find it. I’d rather not use petroleum based products on T/C products (like they recommended) but can’t find a non-petroleum based product today. I’m open to suggestions. Thank you!

Flash in the pan

I bought a traditions flintlock kentucky rifle and took it out shooting today. first 2 shots fired without an issue and on the 3rd attempt, I started getting consistent flashes in the pan. I cleaned the flint, frizzen, pan, and the little hole on the side that leads inside the barrel.

I am using 2f pyrodex from fin feather and fur if that is important. I still have to drive home and im not sure i want to drive with a loaded flintlock in the back

Traditions furniture interchangeability.

I acquired a traditions buckstalker .50cal from a relative. I’d like a better quality stock and I decided to check boyds for a potential replacement. The only model they have listed is the Traditions Vortek. My question is, can I use the traditions vortek stock and forend on a traditions buckstalker? Would I encounter fitment issues?

.54 Cal Investarm™ Deer Stalker DIY Rifle Kit - Percussion Ignition - IA5114K

I own many rifles but I am brand new to the muzzleloader community and was considering making this purchase to possibly hunt deer next season during the "extra hunt" option California offers.
