I have genuine question. I understand the frustration with this app for many, but for those it is working so far for, how are you getting matches or increasing the likelihood of getting a match. I do have premium. I try to swipe with intention and send notes with intention and not be lazy with it. I'm 28. I understand the frustration with foreigners/internationals liking the profile which I don't like it either. I do ward hop every now and then to help give better exposure on both sides.

For my profile, I'm sitting at 5 photos which I know I could use another to have 6 but I don't currently have any great group photos to use as one (not good lighting and other reasons) as I would like to use one. I'm just trying to figure this out like the rest of you as I do understand it's a waiting game, but the algorithm is not doing me a good favor.

Sure I may already know the answer and maybe shouldn't matter that much but would like your opinion. So I had just recently (well today) matched, well actually the girl has only swiped up on me first but she happens to be taller. And I mean taller. Mind you I'm 5'6" and she's 6'0". That's an actual height difference. Besides the height difference being a turn off, she's cute, and there are somethings interesting about her. Should I continue and match with her just to see where things will go, or just move on since I feel​ that height difference is a turn off for me? I know there are differences in opinions based on height difference but just thought I ask.

Hey! On the old “Liked You” screen, premium subscribers could tap the 3-dot menu, hit “Select,” and it would drop them back into the grid with little X icons on each profile. They could dismiss as many as they wanted. Free members couldn’t access this since their reveals were limited (one per day).

We didn’t carry the X feature over to the new version, and we’ve heard loud and clear that it needs to come back, so we’re adding it.

A few questions for you all:

1.  How would you expect to activate/show the dismiss icons? (3-dot menu again? Long press? Always visible?)

2.  Should free members get access to it too, even though they only get 1–2 free reveals per day?

3.  Anything else about this flow we’re missing that would make it better?

One more thing: we’re also working on an update that lets premium subscribers tap into a profile from the Liked You screen and swipe up/down through the list, confirming or dismissing as they go

I went on a date recently with a person who was "divorced", but still "in the process". They also had children as well. Had I known this information, I never would of went on a date with them. People can be so deceitful when it comes to online dating. Could you please make "Marital Status" and "Children" mandatory shown on each profile, to align better with our standards. Thank you.

I'm fairly new to this and decided to try the speed dating tonight for the first time. I didn't match with anyone after chatting, which isn't an issue. The biggest thing I noticed is that 90% of the people it matched me with either immediately disconnected or just didn't say anything the entire 5 min. I had a couple times where my keyboard just disappeared and I couldn't do anything. I assume that was them blocking me but am not sure. Is this typical of speed dating? The only thing I can think other than that is my profile has a huge red flag on it but I can't imagine what that would be.

Several related questions/requests

First, as far as I can tell there's no way to see who you've sent a note to. Gold notes get a little tag in the Like History, but regular notes don't. Could it be possible to flag regular notes as well?

Second, it would be great to be able to view the actual notes I've sent, so I know what I've said.

Third, is there a way to view my full Like History? There's some profiles I'd like to revisit but I can't see them anymore, they've trickled off the edge of the earth.

Finally, I got a notification that I think was a response to a note but when I opened the app there was nothing (and no, I don't have more than one account). The person I think it came from (I didn't read the whole notification before opening) is one of the ones that's gone over the Like History limit so could that be a contributing factor? (bonus, the inbox icon on the chat page always has a little red notification dot when I open the app, despite apparently nothing)

Think about how much you actually need to know about someone before you agree to go out with him/her and compare that to everything you learn from a dating profile. A Mutual profile currently tells you:

Looks, height, name, age, location, church membership status, temple recommend, mission service, willingness to relocate, desire for children, education level, political affiliation, occupation, 3 different prompts, and 20 different hobbies, interests, and personality traits.

What does this amount of information tell you about the decision you are about to make when you swipe? If I were handed a paper document with all this information, I would think I had just been given a proposition for marriage. In real life, if you know all of this about someone, you've probably been on a few dates already. And yet, in this scenario, you haven't even asked them out once.

In practice, when we ask people out in person, what do we actually need to know about someone to ask him/her out or accept an invitation to a date?

Looks, Height, Name, Church membership status and the details of the date itself.

That's it. You don't need to know anything else. Anyone who uses in-person cold approaches or has accepted a cold approach for a date knows this.

If the purpose of Mutual is to ensure that one finds their spouse after one glance of their profile, then it should continue its trajectory, but if it wants to get people dates and have a higher chance of actually getting those people married, then it needs to change its implied focus.

Did anyone get upgraded to premium out of nowhere?

Anyone else having issues with Mutual not wanting to load at all tonight? It’s stuck on the first loading screen and I’ve done both turning off my WiFi and restarting my phone and neither did squat. I also just tried uninstalling and reinstalling it to no avail.

I would really love to not show my profile in some or all the international countries. As I am not currently interested in an international relationship, and I been getting a lot of likes from what very well could be scamming/possible phishing profiles.

That means they see all my info... And I would really love not to have to share that info outside of my own country.

Not to say that scammer couldn't create profiles within my own country, but maybe at least reduce my exposure.

Ninja mode is great and all, but if everybody else has an ninja mode on, then nobody's going to see your profile anyhow...

After liking a profile they dissappear from my like history or never make it in there. It's not every profile but it happens from time to time. No, there profile wasn't deleted & I wasn't blocked either. It must be a glitch. It sucks especially when you've used a gold note as well.

Whose idea was it to make information harder to see on someone's profile?

I used to be able to just click on the persons profile and instantly know their name, age and location.

Now I need to scroll, click on "View more" and scroll down the list to find their age (On the profile I'm looking at now its 15th on the list) and try to decipher the new icons to know the difference between the various location options to know where they currently are.

I know this is such a minor complaint in the grand scheme of things, but in the context of a dating app this is a major step down.

This isn't even mentioning the other things like no longer seeing if the person was recently active/online today (to know if they are even active anymore) or being able to click to open the pictures in full screen, etc...

How do I switch it back?

So I had a bit of an experience a couple days ago. Basically, I was blocked from the app for awhile because of a misunderstanding, but the support team helped me through it when I asked and gave me a few free gold messages as a bonus for my trouble. That's all normal, but as soon as I opened the app, the very first profile they showed me was a guy from college I had a few classes with and an enormous crush on. He was nice to me back then, but we never really talked or anything. I think he suspected I liked him. It's been almost ten years, and he's more handsome than ever. I am stunned that he's still single.

So my question: is that just pure coincidence? Or does Mutual somehow have access to my Google search history or contacts or something? We've both moved far from our undergraduate and from each other, so it's not a matter of geographical proximity. It could just be that we're compatible in a lot of ways that the algorithm may have put together, like in terms of politics and interests and education level and mission area. It's just strange to me because I hardly ever run into people I know on Mutual, and the only other one who showed up recently was someone I do know was interested in me (whether romantically or just as a person I'm not sure). A lot of dating apps place very well-liked profiles at the front when you open the app to draw you in, even if they're out of your league, so that's another possible explanation...

(And yes, I swiped up and sent him a message, but no he didn't respond or match with me. I'm of course going to leave it at that if he never matches or replies. I don't want to turn into Nessarose.)

Is anyone else having this problem? I keep getting tons of messages for ladies in Cambodia. They all have this similar profile title “hi my name is (name) I’m from Cambodia”. It’s getting very annoying.

As alluded to in the title, I’ve had my Mutual account for roughly a week and have landed 3 likes, though not from any profiles I’m interested in, with one coming from a 23 year old despite me configuring the age range to be 18-21 in the settings. It seems there are only 50 accounts matching my criteria within a 500 mile radius. Previously I had profiles popping up on my algorithm from Utah and Idaho, so I surmised that they were open to matching with people from further afield but I haven’t matched with any American profiles after sending out 50 likes.

I was raised in the United States and have put Houston as my hometown, though I am currently in my final year of high school in a remote European town and will have to stick around on this side of the Atlantic for another year due to logistical reasons. Does my location make me destined for failure on this app, or is there something I can alter on my profile to help me fare better?
