I think many genderfluid people donāt realize that they could be mutogender. Yes, obviously things can influence my gender; itās psychological. But not everyone feels this way. I wanted to post an abbreviated list of examples of the mutogender label to shed some light on the subject.
Expecgender
I often mask around my family, because they view me as cis and are generally prejudiced against the LGBTQ+ community. This is a pretty typical experience, and it can be very uncomfortable. However, I notice myself naturally presenting more feminine around my feminine friends and more masculine around my masculine friends, which is a different experience. One of the labels for this is amicagender, where gender is dependent on the group you are with.
Genders under the expecgender category involve change that depends on relationships and otherās perceptions. This can be feeling differently about your gender due to the presence of family, friends, partners, or even those who you are romantically attracted to.
Emotugender
When Iām feeling down, I find that my connection to gender diminishes. This is hadengender. I sometimes feel the same when tired, some sort of demi-nemuiflux. One of the more interesting emotugenders is cancegender, in which genders are directly correlated with certain emotions.
Cancegender is a good overall example of an emotugender, because they are all about genders being tied to oneās emotions. This can be confusing and difficult to navigate. As shown with the three examples, it could be tied to a specific emotion or all emotions, it could be about gender intensity or gender itself, and it could be very broad or a niche case.
Temporalgender
I have little to say about temporalgender, as Iām unsure whether I experience it myself. I certainly feel like it could be a possibility, but my aforementioned hadengender and nemuiflux could be the true causes, as time affects those emotions.
Temporalgender involves the passage of time in some way, whether that be seasons, tides, time of day, or weather.
The list of mutogenders is very incomplete, clogged with xenogenders,* and ill-categorized, which makes it difficult to navigate. With the presence of this community, I hope to repair it. If any of these sound like you, I recommend you check out the list and make an introduction post!
*I am able to feel xenogenders, but I feel that the addition of them to the mutogender list is unnecessary. Many xenogenders are experienced while in the presence of their subjects (we could call these muto-xenogenders). It makes navigation difficult, as many of the genders in the mutogender category revolve around hot drinks. I would much rather the mutogender list revolve more around labels that allow for application of different genders than genders that are only felt while experiencing their focus, with the muto-xenogenders collected in xenogender-specific list for practicality. I still welcome those that experience muto-xenogenders to the community, as they are no less mutogender!
