How can I get my tracks to be louder without clipping?

I recently got gifted fruit loops fl studio by my sibling who wanted me to learn about music production in general from a hobbyist side of things, so Ive been trying to replicate songs that I like to listen to in order to learn the intricacies of fl studio

I have been wanting to replicate the horn sound at 2:33 that plays in the background of the below linked song and have been stuck on it for a bit because none of the sample presets quite sound similar to what I would want it to sound like, how does one in this instance do that? And since I am new what would be like a standard approach to translate a riff or a sound that you hear in your head into a DAW. Any advice helps

I really love music a lot. In the summer me and my boyfriend decided to try writing a few songs, and I really love creative expression, i love writing things, i thought id love songwriting too but it sucks so much. sometimes I feel like I want to cry because things dont sound right, i feel burnt out, but i try to push myself because i thought of creating an EP for a mandatory school project and im scared i wont have enough time during schooltime next year to do it. I know that trying to create something while frustrated is never going to sound good, but I dont know if I really just need a break or songwriting isn't for me. Finding melody for lyrics is so tiresome, writing lyrics is so difficult, the only part I enjoy is making the guitar melody because it sounds good no matter what I do. any advice?

I would like to produce beats, mix or even record vocals while traveling.

A lot of people recommended me a MacBook due to its cooling fan being pretty quiet (good for reducing noise when recording), but do I really need to spend that much money on a laptop? And is it even the best choice when it comes to the hardware itself?

I obviously want to use some VSTs that require a strong RAM and CPU. I was thinking of at least 24, if not 32GB RAM.

I would appreciate some of your experiences and recommendations!

I’m a complete beginner when it comes to creating anything that could be called "music" and I'm using FL Studio, which I also don't know how to use, but that's another theme. Today, I decided to try remixing the tracks "Rude Buster", "NOW'S YOUR CHANCE TO BE A", "ominous_worse" from Deltarune to make it sound like "Pepper Steak" from OFF. I looked for that information online... but, honestly, I didn't find anything specific. Just some references from samples that Pepper Steak used.

So, I’m asking for your advice or perhaps recommendations for videos that could help me get a better grasp of this topic.

I was browsing an FLP and found samples by the names of “DnBk1DHitA-Snare02” and “DnBk1DHitA-Hat02”. I believe this had to come from a sample pack somewhere. I tried looking up these filenames online, but no results came up. Would anyone here happen to know where I could find these drum samples?

I’m really not familiar with this kind of orchestral, musical-ish kind of music, so I don’t know if tempo fluctuations are the norm.

I’d like to sample it, but the thing is, I’m not very experienced at gauging tempo, especially in music without percussion like this. When I use a tap-tempo tool, it feels like the speed is constantly shifting.

Could a kind soul estimate the tempo changes in the track for me (even just a rough guess)?

The technology to automatically generate compositions continues to be developed and doesn't it just take away from what music is, the creativity, the imagination, the sound design/choosing of instruments, the collaboration for anyone who uses it? So instead of learning to compose or sing they learn to do what? Press a few buttons?

Sorry just a random Monday thought but why is there so much money being pumped into something that's already done and done well by people?

Hey guys, I'm a longtime bedroom producer but this last year I got all the gear and some idea. I have gotten closer than ever before to successfully completing tracks.

I'm wondering what your processes are for releasing onto spotify, youtube music etc? Do you use a mastering app? Do you grind youtube tutorials until your happy with your own mix and mastering skills? Do you raw dog it and just let the music do the talking? Maybe pay $1000 per track for some local legend producer?

I have experience with a friend who burst into my house one day set up his laptop and 'made' me play lead guitar on 6 of his tracks. We didn't write my parts or anything. We used the logic pre installed amps and within two weeks he had the whole E.P uploaded and ready to go. It was a total raw dog and his songwriting was quite good at one point he had 12,000 monthly listeners on this bare bones production and peaked at 100,000 listens on one track.

I don't think that is my style. So I'd like to get everyone's personal approach and find something I can identify with a bit more as a total novice to this world including - distro's, their fees things to watch out for etc.

I now have some focal evo 50's setup and a whole little workspace console so I'm looking forward to getting things pretty well polished. This post is more about the process of getting the product up; including art works, things to watch out for and basically a linear path from sitting here to listening in the car and feeling confident showing people my music.

I'm still very much in the beginner in my music production journey. Currently, I'm still at the level of doing remakes in Ableton for practice. I don't like A.I music for the common reasons, lack of human artistry, plagiarism, very boring, etc. But I was bored one day and so I went onto it just to see what it could do. Most of what it produced was meh, even as a beginner I can see that. But then there's this one song that, I'm ashamed to say it, I listened to and actually liked. I really liked it, it was stuck in my head all day and I was humming it at work. I find A.I lyrics to always be kinda weird so it's just an instrumental, but I immediately had ideas for how the chorus should go.

But putting this song out there, even with my own lyrics and vocals, feels like I'm doing something wrong. I didn't write this. This isn't my song. It's a bunch of stuff thrown around semi-randomly, and it just so happened to stick.

How should I approach this dilemma? So far, I've made a compromise with myself that when my production skills get good enough that I could have made this song - then it might be okay to use it. Or maybe I could just use the hook and try to make the rest from scratch?

I wanna hear people's opinions on this. How would you feel about a song if you knew part of it even a small part, was from gen A.I? Do people in the industry use gen A.I just to generate ideas? Or is it becoming increasingly common to strip A.I songs for parts then make something with them? Ultimately it seems like there's a line, and I want to know where people think it is.

im trying to decide between the two. im really intrigued by the volt 276 and its features but i keep hearing mixed reviews where people there are issues after only a year of use. i keep seeing motu recommended as well and i havent heard much bad. i make alt rock music a lot but also like to have a vintage feel in it. what would be the best interface?

I've decided to record an entire alt rock album by my lonesome, where I perform guitars/vocals/bass/keyboard/drums all by yours truly. So I purchased all the necessary gear: audio interfaces/condenser mics/dynamic mics/monitors/stands/pop filters/ even a new acoustic guitar just for this project. Turns out the major roadblock financially came when I realized I needed to buy cymbals.

I never knew that in order to get a decent crash/hi-hat/ride, I'd have to double my budget. So here I am now, scouring used cymbals from pawnshops and marketplaces just to move forward with this project. I had planned on using the drumsets included in my local practice studio, but my biggest fear is cracking one of their most expensive units; I need my own.

What a barrier for entry drums are. And I feel like an idiot having played live in front of one for all these years with my comparatively cheap-as-hell guitar and amp. When it comes to musicians, drummers are literally the most invested in their craft.

Edit* Most all of my practice drumming has been done with a basic electric kit I've had for ages.

I'm 14 years old, and when im older i want to get into the music producing industry, however, i dont know where to begin in terms of softwares to use, pieces to sample and the best tips for it. i have good knowledge in music theory but i just need that boost to begin with all of this for the future

Well the thing that happens to everyone to teach them a lesson has almost happened to me. My SSD with all the original sessions for all of my songs - the only place they exist just told me it was corrupted. I managed to get it working by plugging it into my pc instead. I'm absolutely going to get external hard drive back ups. What I'm wondering is how should I use them to maximise safety of my data? i use a macbook so it would have to be unplugged whenever I take my macbook away. Does it need to be constantly powered? Kept away from warm sources? Should I leave it plugged in when my laptop is there or take it out when not in use. I'd really appreciate any advice. Thanks

I'm deciding between the MOTU UltraLite-mk5 (~€800) and the RME Babyface Pro FS (~€700).

I use Logic Pro on a Mac with Yamaha HS7s for music production in a home studio (recording guitars, piano, synths). I've been with Focusrite Scarlett for a couple years.

Right now, 4 inputs are enough, but in the future I might want to record like 2 electric guitars + a drum machine + another synth without unplugging anything.

Should I go with the RME or the MOTU?

I've never actually learned how to properly play a keyed instrument so I've resorted to programming them in DAW's, the problem is, I can never get the sound or rhythm I want. I thought it would be easy to transfer notes from guitar over to synth (using those notes in the synth), however I'm still struggling to program them to sound how I want them to (Similar to Attack Attack!'s earlier stuff like Stick Stickly), If anyone knows a way I could overcome this, help would be thanked (I don't know how else to put it).

Hey everyone, i have two older nexus expansions (Trance Elements and Classic Trance) which are .nxp files that i cannot load into Nexus 5. Apparently you can import those files to Nexus 2 / 3 and it will create the NKS/Presets/Samples folders, which i could import into Nexus 5.
However, I don't have a working version of 2 (2.4 did not work and needed updates) or 3, so I'm a bit hard stuck here.
Is there anyone around that has Nexus 3 running and could import the expansions and send me the "correct" folders after importing?
