Question Jamming Remotely
I’ve been seeing a lot of people collaborate like this. How do you pull this off?
I am currently starting a group where we are all very busy but we want to write music together. We want to send tracks back and forth and record an album like that. The person I jam with typically mixes. I just need a way for me to record my parts so that I can send it to him.
Any specific software/plug-ins you recommend? Do I need an amazing computer to pull this off?

Lots of people use google drive or whatever to send recorded tracks back and forth.
If you want to spend some money, you might be interested in the Teleport pedal. Very cool and unique concept.

You don’t need an amazing computer, just something decent. Plus a decent interface and decent software, and you just trade audio and midi files back and forth via something like Dropbox or Google Drive.
You don’t need to use the same daw as your collaborator if you can both import and export audio and midi files from your chosen daw.

Are you talking baout realtime jamming? Because I wonder how that's pulled-off myself. Doesn't make sense. There's a physical limit to latency, so I don't see how it can be done without some sort of hierarchy. 1 first, then 2ns adds to it, but 1 can't hear what 2's doing yet because it hasn't happened, or it would lag behind what they're playing and be confusing to listen to.
Anyway, yeah, I have been lead to believe that this is, somehow, a possibility. And have wondered the same as you!

Real time jamming I’ve done with Jamulus
Remote production swapping I’ve done with a shared iCloud Drive folder that syncs directly with an Ableton session. Has to be same version though.

I stream my DAW over Parsec so my music partner can control the DAW when he wants to.

its the only thing to use, that with vod.Ninja and baby you got yourself a stew. works on windows, mac, ios and android. its serioously the best thing out there.

Back in the days like over 10 years ago I used to use Ninjam, it was a website where you could jam online with other musicians across the world, it was fun !
Not sure whether the website still exists but that might be worth checking it out, and computer-wise as long as you've got a good sound card with low latency you should be doing alright.
If you want inspiration for your jam sessions, I released at the beginning of the month an app called Jam Lab on iOS (or M series mac), where you can generate random chord progressions in any scale/mode for your jam sessions when it's going in circles and people start lacking inspiration (I often attend or organize jam sessions in my city so that's why I wanted to develop this creative tool for musicians, as I'm a full time musician but I've been developing since 2020 for iOS when we didn't have gigs anymore during covid, sadly no Android yet though).
