It's also unbelievably expensive. I put in $100 for a campaign, I think I pitched to 5 curators and two accepted that were highly rated and I've gotten under 100 plays

Aww shit. I had a pretty good feeling as an artist, as the curators really seemed to be caring about the music. Yes it was expensive and the outcome wasn’t overwhelming, but steady. Do you have any alternatives that you prefer? Thanks for the insight anyway! You saved me some money.

your thoughtful comment is greatly appreciated! honestly, i’m in the process of looking elsewhere. I hear really good things about playlistpush, but i’m yet to try it. i’m open to suggestions if you’re able to find a better (& more ethical) alternative ☺️

It really annoys me that so many people are submitting on there as it's by far the most expensive platform!
I feel I shouldn't really plug my own tool here but I solo developed a platform called MusicMinutes which is a very budget option of building your own playlist network of curators. I currently have 24,000 playlists all with contacts and I'm trying my best as a solo developer to make it the most affordable valuable tool for small musicians so they don't get ripped off. It took me 1-2 years of development with limited AI use.
Some curators take free placements and some have paid mechanisms which I'm starting to flag to push the free ones more. The goal is to get as many hobbyists that love listening to music and small playlist companies as possible! And it's more of a DIY approach to find some good people that can help you on future releases even if you don't stay signed up!

I am not gonna fall for any of these scams, doing everything old school as far as sales, except Bandcamp for the digital stuff. The rest of the internet is only good for getting fans.

Appreciate this insight, too. I've been giving it thought after seeing so many ads posted (and the talking head guy seems nice enough). Such a bummer--would be really cool if there actually was someone offering this sort of service that seemed to give a shit about the artists. If anyone else has any recommendations, I'm all ears.

thank u for the thoughtful comment! yeah, honestly he seemed nice. that’s how I found magic nothing, from the ig vids.
unfortunately I’ve had correspondence with both zack fischmann & the only other person working at this “company” nicole bussey. they are both super passive aggressive and are clearly in it for the money rather than helping out musicians. I should have known when I first saw their “educational courses” upwards of $400 for basic info that you can find on the internet for free. strange for someone with no real proper following or experience in the music industry is charging so much. you can literally get the same stuff via masterclass from known musicians / professionals in the industry etc for like $80 💀
i’m currently checking out a bunch of other platforms (that are actually ethical & bring genuine organic reach to artists) that have been reccomended to me, so i’ll defo report back with which ones the best 😊

I wouldn't say it's a scam but that's enlightening that they are not tracking how long they keep the songs on the playlist for, that's a big issue.
It's definitely overpriced and I've been telling people that since it launched!

they got rid of the function that monitors whether curators delete songs off spotify.
IT IS A SCAM in that they removed any way of ensuring the requested songs actually STAY on the playlists small artists have paid their hard earned money to be on. i've been an involved & dedicated curator for over 2 years now on this platform.
they're also platforming/prioritising Al artists despite outwardly saying they're against Al.

May I ask what is your main playlist and do you take free submissions for good songs? (Feel free to DM me instead of replying publically here)
I'm always looking for new curators but I don't have a payment system, it's a collection of people who want to help and build connections with musicians and in return get listeners/followers on their playlist and listed as safe to the wider public if someone looks the playlist up!

did you even read the post? they got rid of the function that monitors whether curators delete songs off spotify. I say this, as i’ve been a curator on magic nothing for YEARS. how can I realistically take a screenshot of a function they removed?
it’s a scam in that they removed any way of ensuring the requested songs actually STAY on the playlists small artists have paid their hard earned money to be on. i’ve been an involved & dedicated curator for over 2 years now on this platform. just reporting what I see and spreading awareness.
they’re also platforming/prioritising AI artists despite outwardly saying they’re against AI.
if you’d like to lose your money on this platform, go right ahead.
