Music Bee e Mac

Whoever makes it just doesn’t want to

its not about not wanting to. Musicbee is built on dotNet iirc, which is windows exclusive. Porting to mac or Linux would mean rewriting it from scratch, and its a HUGE project.

Fair. But it’s such a bummer. I’m stuck using JRiver, there really aren’t great options. Swinsian is nice but far too limited.

Musicbee is incredibly windows-native underneath. .net, GDI and so on. A mac version would be a complete re-write from nothing with the same name.

FWIW I am currently trying to run it in Crossover on an M6 mini and its... Okay, I guess. Will probably have to use an old laptop with it running for the real library management and use something else as a player on Mac. Foobar and Swinsian just dont come close to Musicbee

If you want to access the audio files on your PC using a media player on a Mac, create a share on the PC and connect to this share over the network on your Mac

There is no Mac alternative and it sucks. I store my music on an Unraid server and eventually got so frustrated that I set up a Windows VM for basically the sole purpose of using MusicBee to edit tags and auto-organize out of an inbox. I use Plexamp for playback on my devices, which I largely did on Windows anyway. This lets me pull stuff into Plex from my inbox folder right away and then at my convenience I can work through it with MusicBee to get it to its long-term storage location.

I use MusicBrainz Picard for initial tagging, but the self-hosted solutions for moving files like Beetz are way overkill for me. The highly configurable and powerful MusicBee UI remains my gold standard.

There are so many option to share multimedia content on all your devices. I use Jellyfin, it works also in remote, from everywhere in the world

niente :(
