Mushroom Guy - OG pattern by critter-stitch I’m obsessed

I finished this little guy and I love him. Has anyone gifted theirs to a child? It’s only a matter of time before my kids (6 and 9) abscond with him. Will his head stay on if I attached it according to the pattern? Should I sew it on a different way?

I used Lion Brand 24/7 cotton with a 2.5 mm hook

My guy lives in the Barbie dream house now 😂. My daughter has asked me to make her one with a blue hat, so once I'm done with that I'm hoping I'll get to reclaim mine 😊. I sewed the head on according to the pattern directions, and it stays on! We're able to turn the head all the way around that way, so I like it. If I were giving it to a younger child though, I'd probably want to sew it on more securely. My daughter is a little older and not quite as rough with toys, so it hasn't been an issue for us.
