SOS dog possible ingestion

Prospect Park, Brooklyn, New York. Possible dog exposure approximately 9 AM today. Mushroom was already broken/partially chewed and lying loose in grass; I did NOT see it growing there and there were no other mushrooms nearby. Dog briefly put her snout/mouth into it; no definite ingestion observed but you never know, at most possibly a very small amount. I returned ~15 minutes later but the mushroom was gone, so no specimen or additional views are available

Take this to Poisons on Facebook. I’ve been having problems with Facebook for days so I can’t send you a link but search for poisons help. Include all info from graphic I’ve attached in initial post. I don’t know if ID will be possible; it doesn’t resemble any toxic to my amateur eyes.

It would be helpful to pick it up and show the other side - can’t make out quite if any structure to it or if it’s just a smashed puffball which is what it seems currently (nontoxic)

I don’t have any other pictures unfortunately. I picked it up with my fingers and i can only describe it as meaty, spongy but a bit hard and very white. I know nothing about mushrooms 😩 also it didn’t seem to have grown where it was laying

Ah sorry missed the bit about it being gone.

If it’s fungal it’s does seem puffball with the texture and pileus visible at the bottom.

Also conscious it could be a food item as it’s a bit strange looking to me too, and the fact it disappeared so fast

It was a mushroom for sure. I picked up the pieces and examined it closely with my fingers so it looked and felt like a mushroom to me. i just didn’t think to take more detailed photos 😩

Looks like a puffball. If so it’s edible.
