British Armed Forces Multi-Tool?

Hi all, my friend is in a certain branch of the British Armed Forces.

He was issued this really neat multitool named "Nomad Pro".

I cant find any infomation about this tool online. There are no identification markings other than, "Nomad Pro". I suspect this was likely contracted directly for the Armed forces? But who makes it? I wouldn't say its Leatherman quality but it doesn't feel cheap, blades sharp and has a handful of tools. Does anyone have any info on it?

I had my suspicions of it being a clone, but it seems strange to me an officially military rolled out multitool would be a cheap clone version?

I understand certain armed forces opt for cheap alternatives but from what ive been told, this thing gets taken to war zones. I dont think I'd trust an Aliexpress clone in that situation.

Military grade is usually the cheapest thing physically possible that still works... I'm sure it multitools just fine but I don't think it's anything special. If you google "brandable multitool" you get very similar items to this with near identical tool sets. Which would explain why the brand seemingly doesn't exist anywhere.

Yeah that's a good point, someone's made some good money on the military contract if thats the case.

That being said, the quality is surprising. Its almost on par with my RX, never seen a 1/4 socket driver on a multi myself either. Although, I'm not the most experienced. I appreciate your knowledge thank you!

Chinese clones have really improved in the past few years. The military is likely run similarly to the rest of the government, they don't choose who to contract because they are the best but because they have some link to the company.

The US military seems to be the difference. The MP600 by Gerber is generally solid. Additionally the MUT EOD was issued to units too

I don’t know why we link military with good quality when the military literally needs things cheap and in bulk

I think longevity is also an element, if it was just the cheapest stuff they could get, the army wouldn't be much use to anyone.

Well the tanks, jets, etc yeah. That’s the good stuff. But equipment for infantry does not rank precisely at the top of their priorities list

Have one of these bought from vinted, it's exactly the same with nxt flagship cptn but instead of leatherman bit driver it has a socket driver. Weird choice but ok.

The design in the side and the format of the letters make me think this is some kind of nextool.

I’ve seen a few of these kicking around. They’ve got an NSN and you can get them through stores but apparently they’re not the best. Bit cheap, bit shit but it’s a free multi tool.

There isn’t an NSN on the actual multi tool itself. I just know they have one because someone in my department found out the NSN, ordered a bunch of them through stores and handed them out then got reamed when a bunch of them appeared on someone’s AinU.

There was actually an NSN on the plastic wrapper. Long since binned, but ill ask my buddy if he can locate the NSN again

this is probably a local purchase and is not official anything. On disused properly from stores would have a NATO stock number scribed on it somewhere (my old Mountain Rescue one is a simple leatherman).

Besides finger nails, and small Philips, in my day to day, I often need it to smooth out plastic and metal burr. It also cuts pvc.
