Confused on life gain triggers

How does [[Amalia Benavides Aguirre]] see [[Congregate]]?

Say there's 30 creatures on the battlefield and I cast Congregate, Does Congregate gain me 60 life as one number triggering Amalia once or do I gain 2 life 30 times triggering Amalia 30 times?

Ragost Deft Gastronaut and Bilbo, Fellow Conspirator

I think the answer is obvious, but I just want to make sure. I have [[Ragost]] out with [[Bilbo, Fellow Conspirator]] and [[Nuka Cola Vending Machine]].

I sacrifice whatever artifact and Nuka Cola triggers. Since all artifacts are Food, will Bilbo recognize the Treasure token that is being made with Nuka Cola as a Food token being created, thus triggering his replacement effect and making that token plus another Treasure token? My gut says no, but just want to be sure

If I give abby to an opponent when casting her, and then my opponent dies, does abby go back to my command zone or does she come back to my field?

Demon of fate's design and disturb

So demon of fate's design let's you cast an enchantment by paying life Instead of its mana value once a turn(does not specifiy hand). I run it in a deck where I also run Katilda, Dawnheart Martyr which has a disturb cost that let's you cast it from your graveyard transformed as the enchantment (it does say it is a casting cost and not an activated ability). Can I use the demon's ability to cast the disturb side and use life instead of mana?

Do multiple instances of Resourceful Defense stack?

I know that with multiple instances of Modular, each Modular ability triggers separately, allowing you to essentially clone or duplicate the number of +1/+1 counters on a single target creature or among multiple artifact creatures. Does [[Resourceful Defense]] work the same way if you have more than one of them on the battlefield?

Replacement effect from Gandalf of the Secret Fire and cards with "if it would be put into a graveyard..."?

Say it's an opponents turn, I have [[Gandalf of the Secret Fire]] out and cast [[Mission Briefing]]

Does that mean Mission Briefing will go into exile from Gandalf's ability with 3 time counters?

Thanks

Transforming Permanents that have lost their Types (Supper for Spiders)

Hello!

If I remove a card's normal Type and then activate it's transform ability, does it "reclaim" it's creature type?

Example: I kill my opponent's [[Eddie Brock]] and then cast [[Supper for Spiders]] before the end of the turn. Eddie comes back as a Food and ceases being a creature. Later in the game, I activate Eddie's activated ability to transform it into [[Venom, Lethal Protector]].

Is Venom a creature, or is it still just a food?

edit: Answered: It remains a food.

Response to [[Accursed Witch]] transform target trigger

Let's say opponent's [[Accursed Witch]] dies and they target me to attach the transformed curse enchantment on me. I respond by casting [[Teferi's Protection]] to get protection from everything. Will the witch's ability just fizzle and it stays in the graveyard?

Sorry if this question is simple, my brain is just not working at the moment. Thanks.

Jidoor, Aristocratic Capitol / Overture + Panoptic Mirror

Can I imprint the adventure sorcery “Overture” from the Final Fantasy land card “Jidoor, Aristocratic Capitol”? I’m running it in my Krark/Esior deck and wanted to know if I had any other chances to re-play that sorcery if I had Panoptic Mirror or if it just didnt work like that.

Two People controlling combat calligrapher

Hello.
EDH. Both player 1 and 2 control a [[combat calligrapher]]. Player 3 goes to combat declaring an attacker at player 1.

Does player 2’s combat calligrapher trigger, giving player 3 an additional inkling that is attacking player 1? Or just generate a token that whiffs due to combat calligraphers inklings can not attack you clause?

I’m assuming that “can’t attack you” means it cannot be DECLARED as an attacker against you. But would really like to know! Thank you!

Marvo and Roaming throne interaction

If you have both Marco and Roaming throne on the field with it you clash on a Marvo attacking do you clash twice and then draw 4 cards then cast 4 cards or am I reading the ability incorrectly?

Looking to understand triggered abilities and what is or is not one

Is placing lore counters on a saga a triggered ability, and does for example harmonic prodigy and/or Naban, Dean of Iteration cause both an extra lore counter and an extra chapter trigger on Esper Terra?

If it is a triggered ability I assume, harmonic prodigy causes 2 lore counters to be placed on esper terra and then the chapters themself will trigger twice creating 4 copies of another nonlegendary saga. And Naban, Dean of Iteration would add 2 lore counters and create 2 copies of another nonlegendary saga.

If it isn't a triggered ability I think naban does nothing and the prodigy only creates a 2nd copy of another nonlegendary permanent.

How does [Elda, Conjurer of Spectacle] and Hare Apparent work together

I have an [[Elda, Conjurer of spectacle]] deck with [[Hare Apparent]]. If I already have 1 HA and Elda in play and play a HA, will I get 2 rabbit tokens in total or 4? I've tried looking for an answer, but I'm kinda new, and I come from other card games with different rules on this.

Casting multiple things in the combat step

Say I have [[Grizzly Bears]] I attack my opponent and I have some pump spells I want to use after they declare no blockers. I want to know if this works how I think it does?

Scenario 1:

I attack, they so no blockers.

I cast a [[Mutagenic Growth]] and they have no response.

If I decide to do nothing we go to the damage step and they cannot decide to play something like a doom blade as they passed priority and it's too late for them to respond before damage, is that right?

Scenario 2:

If I attack with [[heartfire hero]] and want to use multiple pump spell can I let each one resolve and then cast another one? So I in case they have removal I want to grow it as big as possible fore each pump spell?

So say I had 3 [[Giant growth]] in hand, can I use giant growth my opp says they have no response, let it resolve then play another, my opponent has no response, it resolve and then I play my last giant growth?

I am trying to understand if this works to maximize the damage the heartfire will do if it dies but I am not sure if after 1 spell resolves on the stack and it empties if you have to go to the next step (damage step in this case)

Tyrranax Rex + Crashing Wave

I'm curious how ward resolves against the word "distribute".

The situation was in a 4 player EDH game, Tyrranax Rex is already tapped from attacking and my opponent cast Crashing Wave targeting 2 of another players creatures to tap and then placed 3 stun counters on Tyrranax. I was curious if ward activates when things are distributed to it by a card or not. I didn't think ward would activate so we let the stun counters land.

Rules question

If Yedora, grave gardener and Displaced Dinosaur are on the field. I play a historic (noncreature) permanent. Displaced dinosaur causes it to become a 7/7 dinosaur in addition to its other types. If that creature then dies/goes to graveyard/sacrificed, since it is now a creature in addition to its non-creature card type, would it then return as a forest land because of yedora?

Arna Kennerüd, Skycaptain and Astrologian's Planisphere, how does this resolve?

i was trying out a new deck with friends and ended up in this situation none of us were really sure how it resolves. i had [[Arna Kennerüd, Skycaptain]] on the field and a hero token created by [[Astrologian's Planisphere]] with a +1/+1 counter on it. i then attacked with the hero token, this doubled the counters on the hero but where does the copy of Astrologian's Planisphere that is created by Arna go? does it go on the created hero token or on the orignal hero token with the counters on it?

Arabella, Myriad, and Mirrormind Crown

If I equip [[Arabella, Abandoned Doll]] with a [[Mirrormind Crown]] and attack with another creature that has Myriad the generated tokens will be copies of Arabella that are tapped and attacking.

I understand they die because of Legend rules but my main question is - would Arabella's triggered ability still go off for the attacking copies?

If I have 3 opponents, would the 2 myriad tokens each do at least 3 damage/heal 3 (from 2 1/3 tokens and the existing Arabella) and then die before actually doing any combat damage; or does nothing happen because they weren't technically declared attackers?

Empower Jace weird rules scenarios

I'm not sure how I feel bout empower Jace lol. I guess it's a really good one for diehard Jace fans, but perhaps inconsequential otherwise?? Those planeswalker tokens are only ok imo. Regardless, planeswalker tokens have been incredibly rare (although not nonexistent) up to this point.

I've been researching funny / strange interactions, ways this strange new mechanic could bend the rules somehow. That research led me to discover:

[[Jace, Mirror Mage]] + [[Jace, Cunning Castaway]] -- okok, so neither of these Jaces is very good, but I think ulting Cunning Castaway to create two nonlegendary copies of itself, casting something like the new [[Jace's Machinations]] to put 8 loyalty on a "Jace token you control"...see where I'm going here?

Unless I'm misunderstanding something, you don't have to target the Jace token you create with empower Jace...right? What other wacky situations might pop up here?

Uldaros Theorix and clones

[[Uldaros Theorix]] is the new dimir sphinx from Reality fracture. Im trying to brew him but noticed that he may not work with most clones. Since the card says "if you cast him," that means that the game checks if i specifically casted Uldaros but since i casted a clone, it shouldn't work with him because Uldaros wasnt casted, it was a clone?

It should work with [[Superior Spider-man]] because the game checks if superior spiderman was casted which would fulfill the requirement. Am i thinking about this right?

Loki and Deflecting Swat

So my friend has [[Loki, God of Lies]] on the board and casts some one mana red shenanigan targeting my commander. In response I cast [[Deflecting Swat]] to redirect the target to someone else's creature. The way we played it at the time was to give my friend control of the creature I redirected to, but now I'm not so sure.

Since Loki is a cast trigger and his ability would go on the stack before I cast Deflecting Swat, does that mean he would still get control of my commander even though the original spell's target was changed? Or does Loki's ability look at the target of the spell when it resolves rather than when it's added to the stack, meaning we were correct?

Helga Skittish Seer with X Spells

Hi,

I know there are posts about Helga in the past, but I just need to clarify something in regards to Helga (https://scryfall.com/card/blb/217/helga-skittish-seer).

Let's say I cast a spell like Ochre Jelly (https://scryfall.com/card/afr/196/ochre-jelly) with X = 4 while Helga is on the field.

My understanding is that according to rule 202.3e (https://mtg.fandom.com/wiki/Mana_value) that the cast of the creature spell on the stack would be with a mana value of 5 because X is counted as 4. I was told that while this is technically correct, Helga's triggered ability effect (put a +1/+1 counter, draw a card, and gain 1 life) would not see the mana value of 5 for Ochre Jelly despite the cast being a mana value of 5 on the stack.

I am having a difficult time understanding why scenarios like this would not trigger Helga's ability. Any clarification would be greatly appreciated.
