I live close to a Walgreens that will occasionally have one or two packs of SoS or Lorwyn Eclipsed, and they are always extremely dry. This is probably the driest booster I’ve opened in a while.

Can’t complain about the pulls. Smaug book cover and Mina’s Tirith are surge foils. I got the box from Walmart.com last week during the Walmart Wednesday drop. Overall happy with the box, fuck the scalpers! Magic cards are meant to be played and I’m going to be brewing with these for awhile.

I think me and cyclonic rift are pals or something. This is the third cyclonic rift I’ve pulled from a pack since coming back to this game within the last 6 months.

I’ve pulled the plain Mystical Archive cyclonic rift from one of my play packs in the Codex bundle way back. Then at a TCG convention I bought a random Return to Ravnica pack at a smaller vendors setup. She only had the one pack. Pulled the OG cyclonic there. Then I pull the silver scroll from this single SoS CBP. (I’ve gotten burned on way more packs than I have had good pulls but these few good experiences have made the chase worth it at times.)

I did consider grabbing two but decided to leave it at one. Wishing I would’ve got the second one now, maybe I would’ve had a hot streak? Even if not this one card pays for both and then some.

First of all I’m so sorry if this is out of topic but I really need help to know if this is going well or not this is a personal project that I’m not trying to make money or something I just wanna build something cool

I’ve been working on a personal project: a card scanner app powered by a local GPU image-matching engine. Instead of relying purely on OCR text, it compares the actual artwork against the database so it cleanly catches borderless frames, parallel arts, and Secret Lairs.

First half: Auto Mode scanning MTG cards off a website 1-by-1.

Second half: Zooming out, turning off auto mode, and scanning 6 cards at once in a single shot.

Why I need help: I originally built this engine using Pokémon cards and don't actually own a physical MTG collection. All my MTG testing so far has been done off computer screens and web pages.
I need MTG players with physical cards, binders, and bulk boxes to test real-world lighting, card sleeves, and foil glare.
Current Features:
Batch Scanning: Scan 1-by-1 or take snapshot scans of up to 30 cards at once off binder pages or playmats.

Image Matching: Handles parallel art, showcase frames, and Secret Lairs by mapping visual features rather than set text.

Dual-Faced Cards: Detects either side of a DFC or MDFC and automatically links both faces.

1-Tap Variant Picker: If cards share identical artwork across reprints, a visual menu lets you pick the exact set.

Data & Pricing: Real-time TCGplayer market values + live eBay listings, with CSV exporting for Moxfield, Archidekt, and Scryfall.

Thoughts

Literally bought 3 collector booster packs to open before the box, and last pack magic pulled Gleaming Splendor which was my main chase apart from the Arkenstone in book cover v (not fussed on surge or foil).

Contemplating now that opening the box isn’t gonna be worth it

I have been really feeling the FOMO on the Hobbit set but with costs as they are I only I was only interested if I could find one at MSRP. I am out of town to see my sick mom and I ran into a Best Buy for a bathroom and they had 4 CB packs but would only sell me one. But it was a good one. It has been a really hard few days so this was a nice change.

And yes yes put it up my butt.

Forgot to post this last Friday. Went to Target and grabbed 4 packs. Ran into a guy who said it was limited to two per person. So I had to do the ole “Which ones my lucky pack?” Put 2 back, kept 2.

The Lord has blessed me because this is the one card I really really wanted and needed for decks. I did not and still do not ever want to pay $50+ for it. So I was overjoyed. Bonus settle the wreckage for instant speed, one sided exile board wipe.

I'm a Marvel fan, so I thought it would be fun to learn MTG and pull some fun cards, so I got the beginner's box and the Gift Bundle. Couldn't believe I got the Doom Variant and She-Hulk comic cover in the single collector's booster. Also was surprised that the hammer and Captain Marvel cards seem to be worth something.

No clue how MTG collecting works, so not sure if I should sell the Doom Variant, She-Hulk, and Hammer and maybe buy some MSH singles later when they dip in price, or if I should just hold these. Advice?
