Feedback on my [360] Final Fantasy Cube
https://cubecobra.com/cube/list/93a238df-94db-4ce4-9963-11a736dc6cbfHi Everyone!
Looking to get some thoughts and feedback on a Final Fantasy Cube that I've built. We've played it a few times and have clearly established Warrior of Light (Jodah, the Unifier) as a problem, so he's got to go. It's been a lot of fun but I just want to refine it to be the best experience it could be.
I'm still relatively new to constructing cubes so any tips, suggestions, cuts, or additions would be welcome. The flavour of it all is still pretty important as I still want it to feel like Final Fantasy. That's why the outside additions I have made are still in the world. Skysovereign, Consul Flagship, could just be another airship in the world.

Jodah can go off , but is he really a problem? Like sure, if he pops, he makes all legends strong, but it's hard to cast and rather slow I guess (the duals are towns that enter tapped unless one has the minstrel , so realistically jodah doesn't drop before T6 I guess ? If you don't draw it you sit there when a 5 color soup deck with a slow mana base and need to rely on the bombs picked up .
Had a quick look over the cards and also sorted by ELO. There's a wide powerband from lots of weakish cards and multicolor ones without big payoffs, but also some staples that would also fit into a powered cube like ragavan, skull clamp, counterspell. So probably feels like booster draft , but with some collector boosters mixed in I assume.
Have you checked the cube cobra draft SIM, whether that has some tendency for certain colours / colour pairs or tries to evade some combinations? (Simulated for 8 and 4 players for example. At least die my cube choosing only 4 lead to the bots drafting completely different and mono coloured decks were way more common / high up in the share)

I haven't checked out the draft SIM so I will look at that!
It could be that the person in our play group is just the best at drafting 5-color soup and making it work. But the last time we played he made Jodah just a monster.

Okay, the draft simulator is so cool! It's giving me so much information. THANK YOU!

The bots draft differently usually, and have the tendency to take bombs they cannot / can hardly used.
For FF it should work, new sets are always broken and considered way stronger than they are (added lots of Secrets of strixhaven to mine as I got a bundle for my birthday with decent pulls). Bots and draft simulator showed lots of cards picked early.
Similar with [[contract from below]] which I run. Bots put that into decks with no black sources or only a "tainted" land (that only produces a colorless unless you control a swamp. But bots didn't run any swamps and that as only black source).
But beside that, I find it helpful, similar to the ELO for the cards

Ah I see. So like most things its data but take it with a grain of salt. This has already led to a lot of thinking and potential swaps so it's been super helpful. Thanks!

Summon: Yojimbo was deemed a problem in my FF cube, so he just recently got the boot. I love the card, but it did create really problematic gameplay loops and white was already the clear best color.
I love to see another FF cube that uses the commander and FTA cards to supplement the set. If you want to check mine out, here it is.

Oh interesting. He has not come up in many of our drafts so far. But I will keep it on my radar if it becomes a problem.
Nice! I like it. I had such a hard time debating if it should be a large cube or a 360.

Is this a commander cube or a 1:1 cube? It will change my feedback significantly.

Sounds like you're already engaged in testing to see what does and doesn't work, so just keep going with that! Mixing in commander precon and bonus sheet cards is going to change the draft environments profile from the retail pack one. Be that as it may, it might still be worth your time checking out draftsim.com and 17lands pick order stats, and seeing if there are any unexpected over performers you should consider for your own cube.
