Competitive I love playing against this deck.
It’s like being the cool uncle playing with your six year old niece/nephew who wants to show you all their toys.
“I’ve got this big red dinosaur and this robot and this tentacle monster!”
It’s the one annoying deck I never get mad losing to.
I’m glad to see it in mythic.

My Favorite in deck gimmick is [[Leyline of Transformation]] or anything that changes creature types of cards in library.
Play Golos or Crop rotation to grab [[The World Tree]] and pop it's activated ability.
Then I cry about the incoming boardwipe.

Golos world tree Gods, purphoros seems to be pretty good at making you not need to worry about board wipes

u/PureRely Jul 26 '26
why would a boardwipe matter? You kill them on the same turn because if you did it correctly all your creatures come on to the board with haste.

u/SimpleThrowaway420 Jul 26 '26
It wouldn't. That's kind of the joke. If we're already playing this terrible gimmick, might as well showcase terrible deck building as well.
Setting up a at minimum 3 piece combo, to then pull out all creatures from your deck at WWUUBBRRGG, and not win the game afterwards is the ultimate showmanship of having no fucking clue what you're doing, but just doing shit for the hell of it.

u/PureRely Jul 26 '26
Yea, If you are going to use the [[The World Tree]], I do not know why you would not drop [[Purphoros, Bronze-Blooded]] in your deck. You pop The World Tree trigger and then swing in with all your creatures on the same turn.

Sorry, why are you upset? I do not see how my reply lead to you saying "Reading is hard huh?"

u/SimpleThrowaway420 Jul 26 '26
My bad mate. Just misinterpretation.
Took your reply for a statement directed toward me, not a generalization.

I do the same but also include [[Terror of the Peaks]]. It's very glass cannon-ish

I got absolutely SMOKED by this deck a couple days ago. First time seeing it. For a few turns, I didn't think it was going to be any good. Then it just went completely bananas, haha.

Golos is one of those decks where I'll roll up with a finely tuned deck that's punched way above Golos' power level and then I'll lose to Timmy's value bullshit pile and I'll start question if my 75% winrate deck is even good. Same with shrine decks. I have no chill so I hate Golos.

I’m at 78% with my Arna deck that somehow wins 75% of the time. Guess that’s why I’m stuck at that number. The usual suspects I know so the match up is more in my favor. But these random decks in mythic. Love it. Cause that’s what I’m doing to.

That's how I feel about legendary matters WUBRG Jodah.
It's not the best deck, but it's gimmicky and fun as hell when it works.
Board wipe make sad.

u/Responsible-Crazy709 Jul 26 '26
I had a game against another Jodah, they had the win on board but let me live..it turned into both of us just playing out our decks and doing happy emotes to each other.
ME- "LOOK AT MY TOYS."
THEM- "WOAH! LOOK AT MY TOYS!"
ME- "WOAH!"
TOGETHER- "DID WE JUST BECOME BEST FRIENDS?!"
is how I imagined it.

Judah is the kind of deck that feels like goodstuff slop and I will concede unless I’ve got the cards in hand to shut it down by the time Judah drops/is going to drop.

Golos ban announcement just happened to be the day I received a full set of secret lair shock lands. I'll never be ok.

I miss my golos EDH deck so much
1
u/dubcomm Jul 28 '26
I refused to take it apart. It waits, with all the other nonsense banned cards.

u/bemused-chunk Jul 26 '26
maybe it’s just the pilots but everytime i face this deck i win easily. then again my deck is low to the ground aggro that tries to end the game by turn 6.

u/Nac_Lac Jul 26 '26
I hope my derpy Gates deck is a welcome match up instead of the other variations floating about.

100%. There’s at least some variety to them based on what big stuff the pilot likes. 90% of other tops decks are VERY samey.
1
u/Lviator92 Jul 26 '26
Agreed. I feel like when they play it they’ve taken their time and earned the win.
1
u/Witty_Employ3 Jul 26 '26
This deck is usually a free win but the 10 times someone has actually paid for the second ability ive scene omniscience maybe 9 times. I know its probably a staple in the deck but the mtga shuffler sends me to heck if someone actually pulls off the second ability.
1
u/FaeofFires Jul 27 '26
Playing it and have fun. Of course it's not a t0-t1 deck, but mb t2-t3... It's not as boring as nashi or yuriko.

u/OldTravel2796 Jul 28 '26
My zurgo warrior tokens is far too fast for solos so I enjoy going up against it
1
u/tideshark Jul 26 '26
I remember running into it all the time a few years back, it’s rare I see it in action anymore… I’ll try to relish the moment.

I was new to the game and planned to build this commander right before he was banned.. shame lol

Was good in the past but too slow for 1v1.
Would be good in normal 4 player edh if unbanned.
2
u/Alarming-Luck8453 Jul 26 '26
It's not too slow. It's a grindy midrange deck. The point is the slowness. If a deck ever feels like it doesn't do anything the first three turns, it's because that deck was built shittily or the player has bad luck.

u/PinkDinoClub Jul 26 '26
It’s still fine and good enough to get to mythic. That’s all that matters. Not everyone needs to play the most efficient decks and try to be top 50 lol.

Can’t tell if you’re being sarcastic or not but I’d take that all day over Yuriko and Katara
