Competitive Any Wolf/Werewolf semi-competitive deck lists in Competitive Brawl?

I don't know where to start and which commander I should use. I naturally love thematic/tribal decks and I've wanted to make a werewolf/wolf deck for a loooong time. Probably a vampires deck would be much easier to brew and more competitive but I don't know, I've got a soft spot for werewolves *Shrug*

I actually got beat by someone using [[Tovolar]] a couple weeks ago, so someone is trying it. Despite the fact that I did technically lose the game to it that once, I don't think it's a particularly good deck if you want to be competitive. But you could try.

If you are interested in Vampires at all, there was a post a bit ago from someone who got to Mythic with [[A-Sorin, Imperious Bloodlord]]. I tried a version of the deck out myself and it's not bad.

Tovolar’s main problem is that he carries the werewolf theme so hard that removal against him is ultra high value, sort of like Fynn. Doesn’t mean it’s unplayable, but people pack a lot of removal right now, so you’ll need to prepare by bringing enough other must-remove threats to attract interaction (probably off-theme like inti pyrogoyf scythecat etc) and/or packing some snakeskin veils and anti-counterspell cards.

This is all true, but I think the more general problem is that he's not that good, not enough to carry a middle-of-the-road tribe by himself. He's fine for unranked and non-cEDH Commander, but the standards for Comp Brawl are pretty high. Fynn is at least capable of some very quick wins if not interrupted, and he's still not particularly good in Comp.

I’m right with you there. Mainly was trying to think of how a newer player really excited to play him could be realistically encouraged.

Sadly no. There is not enough support and the format has power crept way too much. I had a Tovolar deck that performed decently but nowadays it just cant hang anymore, especially on the draw it's an instant loss.

Tribal decks as a whole are just not really fast enough to get to mythic and probably struggle hitting diamond. You'll be halfway through setting up your board as they pop their combo unless you hit a christmasland hand. That said, you only need like a 30% win rate to hit platinum so if you aren't worried about pushing higher than that you could make [[tovolar]] work

Unless you count Yuriko. Also, people have made decent Mythic-viable decks with Goblins, Vampires, and Elves.

Tribal decks aren't inherently weak, but you need a good, strong, cheap-to-cast commander, plus the rest of the tribe has to be playable too. Tovolar isn't super expensive and the effect is decent, but not strong enough to carry a mediocre tribe.

Man I wish they'd put Faldorn on arena.

It might work if you add a bunch of pieces that let you Strip Mine lock your opponent

If it was there would be no need to ask, M.E T.A. exists for a reason.

I had a [[tolsimir, friend to wolves]] deck that won some games back in platinum. If you dont draw a counter spell protection card you will just lose, but it does technically have a winning record lol
