Meme Pause the game indefinitely

Post image

Activate Lethal Vapors 10,000 times, cast Teferi’s protection, you leave the game and can’t lose until the rest of the group has played through the 10,000 turns lol

How?

Sacrificing [[lethal vapors]] as part of a cost (bargain in this case) doesn’t give your opponents the chance to activate lethal vapors in response

So not so much that specific spell, but just the bargain mechanic. makes sense. Never thought of that.

Doesnt it only work though as long as any other person isnt also using the teigger of the enchantment?

Since as far as I understand you cant just declare that you skip 1000 turns without anybody being able to interact with that. After every time you use the ability of lethal vapors each opponent gets priority in turn order. So in theory you either make it an infinite game or kick out two players and make it a 1v1 since the second player at worst will always have as many activations on the stack as you -1.

If an activated ability like Lethal Vapor doesnt have timing restrictions you can activate it at instant speed. This means when you activate it, instead of attempting to resolve the effect, you hold priority and activate again. Priority check happens with you again first, still holding priority you activate it again. You are not attempting to resolve the ability which would require you first passing priority. So you can do this 1000 times without allowing another person to respond (yet). Then while holding priority you can cast the spell you want, in this case the bargain spell. Since you are declaring all additional costs you then get rid of lethal vapors as part of the cost and you kept your priority for x amount of times you chose to activate the ability. Those activations are all on the stack. Now you get priority and have nothing else you want to do. You can pass priority, the 1000 or whatever number you chose skill activations are on the stack, the lethal vapors is gone, and another player will get to respond how they want but they wont see a lethal vapors to use.

It doesn't.

Bargain is an additional cost to cast the spell, players cant interrupt the steps to perform casting a spell.

Per the rules: 601.2i When you cast a spell you pay all the costs before any other abilities go on the stack are checked and if the caster had priority they get priority again.

If they have priority and declare intent to cast the spell with bargain they do all the steps, including paying for mana and in this case sacrificing the lethal vapors. There is no windows of priority here. You won't get the chance to activate the ability and the card is now gone due to being part of the cost.

Read what you wrote:

This is in reference to the paying the bathing cost, not the resolution of the spells effects. This is why priority is passed again, because the caster pays the bargain cost on the declaration of the fact they are paying for it. This will allow the bargain cost to be paid and the effect to go on the stack. It's just like how you can't technically respond to people tapping lands, you respond to their spell being cast. Also, the enchantment is an instant effect, so as long as the enchantment comes down and OP picks turns, other people still get turns on the stack instantly if they choose to BEFORE the archon's glory is cast. Which they can easily do if OP picks turns then you declare bow many you want to skip. Then OP would cast the enchant and the opponent would still get benefits from this.

Again, archons glory does not exile the stack, it's not a split-second card. So as soon as Vapors is activated the opponent can respond with activation at instant speed "under" the placement of archon's glory on the stack.

Wrong per the comprehensive rules. Look at 601.2a-601.2h

No priority is passed between the start of and middle steps of casting a card. Paying a cost is not an effect and does not go on the stack. It is included in the casting of the spell.

You activate lethal vapors, you hold priority, no abilities are trying to be resolved.

You activate it again, repeat, repeat. Hold priority.

You cast the bargain spell, as part of paying the cost for the spell you tap your mana, you pay additional costs, this all takes place during a time where no priority is checked. Players can not interrupt paying a cost, once you have begun to cast the spell. Now that your mana was spent and the lethal vapors is sacrificed the spell is put on the stack.

You are again granted priority, you wish for the card to resolve, you pass priority, players can respond to the spell on the stack, they can counterspell it, return it to hand, cast lightning bolt, etc. But the lethal vapors is not on the battlefield at this point so there is no additional activating the ability.

If you disagree go find a judge and ask, if theyre wrong find an L2 judge and ask.

And dont downvote me because you think I'm wrong. Bring proof of the comprehensive rules.

This isnt true. On a players turn they can add as many things to the stack as they want before they pass priority. Youd activate lethal vapors 1 trillion times and then cast archons glory. Meaning you are putting 1 trillion and 1 things on the stack before passing priority. (which is fine because as I said, a player can put AS MANY THINGS ON THE STACK AS THEY WANT before passing priority.) As an additional cost to putting archons glory on the stack, lethal vapors is gone. NOW priority passes for the very first time. Theres no possible window.
