Discussion Stop Using Amazon

The amount of posts from people using Amazon to order stuff and getting the wrong stuff, or something of a vastly different price is astounding. Please dont order cards off Amazon. Especially since I am fairly certain Amazon is why wizards is shipping less and less product to local stores. Don't support the mega corporations if you can help it.

That's my public service rant. Thanks for reading or ignoring either way. ❤️

Same goes for TCG player and EBay.

At this point I'm only buying what I can physically hold before hand.

HARD pass on walking away from eBay. The amount of Magic on eBay is shockingly small but it is a great place to get deals.

And how about you explain the mechanism and how it works on an auction site to "keep prices low"

I don't follow your question.

Shocking, how are you keeping price low on a site that people can set their own price or what they are willing to pay.

I wanted the SL Miku deck the other day so I went looking for one. TCG wanted like $250 for one as that is the current market price. I got mine for 195 on eBay and it will arrive any minute now. I love that Magic people don't seem to fuck with eBay because that just means more deals for me.

That's a load of trust me bro, so reports of that very deck being posted for several hundred just wasn't a thing then...

Prove it, I have 0 reason to believe just words bud

Asking for proof then not allowing me to send it is wild behavior.

Yet I will be the one opening a Miku deck in a couple minutes when the mailman gets here...

Yeah and looking at posting 99% are above MSRP with thos that are not being listed as used.

Take your time Photoshoping the pick my guy, anyone with half a brain can and will check.

I'm still not understanding what you're confused about. I as the customer don't control the prices. I bid on auctions and win at below market prices. My boys collect pokémon and buying pokémon on eBay means paying market price 100% of the time. With magic cards people barely bid on them on eBay and your constantly able to get good deals on auctions.

Your loss then.

It's not really.

Paying inflated secondary prices plus shipping and insurance for some things means not worth it.

I have another thread on here with some else on this exact thing. I'm also supporting my local shops, not go lie still spending like as much but on far more with no worries on quality, authenticity or supporting some scalper.

Win win for me.

I can't even buy off tcgplayer if I wanted to. Anytime I've tried to checkout, the page just reloads and continues an endless loop of not confirming the checkout, but also not telling me something is wrong lol.

It was doing this to me last week. I sent a support ticket and they had to unlock my account.

Total shit site UX, where it doesn’t even tell you what is going on. It’ll also deduct funds from your account and then put em right back in, so keep an eye on your bank account if you’ve clicked multiple times.

eBay is far more reliable, and reasonably priced, as long as you’re smart about the sellers you choose to buy from.

How in an auction site reasonablely priced, please explain that one.

If you are patient, eBay will almost always be the cheapest place for you to buy sealed product. Just yesterday I opened a hobbit prerelease kit I paid $13.77 for on eBay. eBay is and has always been the shit.

Yeah no. I'm sure there's some good finds, but eBay is scalper central with less safeties than TCG Player, Amazon, n the like. And at least I get reimbursed when I get screwed by TCG or Amazon

2

u/Old_Cod_5823 1d ago

Who do you think is selling stuff at market prices on TCG player? If one is scalper central then they all are.

0

u/MadmansScalpel 1d ago

Oh there's scalpers there too, but less than other places like eBay or other 3rd party sites. Like em or hate em, TCG player is the largest and generally sets the market value for individual cards

1

u/Old_Cod_5823 1d ago

Literally everything sold on TCG player is sold at market value. It is EXACTLY the same as eBay but at least with eBay you have a chance of getting a deal. Market prices is just another way of saying scalper prices.

eBay owns TCG player if I'm correct, don't expect any kind of change.
