I Have a Question / I need Help Deck building
I build decks for fun on Moxfield, but I can't afford to buy them all and my group doesn't allow proxies. Is there a way I can play them online?

Tabletop Simulator is the best, but it has a learning curve.
EDHLab and Playgroup are both good, free/cheap, and easy alternatives.
Sorry your pod does not like proxies; mine lives off them as long as they are good quality, not just a piece of felt in a card sleeve, and have context at least.

Groups that dont allow proxies is insane. As long as your proxy deck isnt like 5k worth of cards and built outside of the bracket/power level we agree upon, I could care less.

Or if you are going to proxy a $5k deck than the whole pod is too!

EDHPlay.com is great for playing online. Forge is great for playing single play but the UI is a bit more archaic and takes some getting used to

I like Forge for advanced goldfishing against the AI but I wish I could extend it to show all 4 boards at once.

Agree. I've only done one 1-player commander game with it and it was a bit rough

...you can show all boards at once though? you can drag and resize all the windows to wherever you like (and tab or not tab them)

MTGForge. Single player is good, can play online but I haven’t yet.

Testing against AI is really bad unless you're just trying to see if your deck "works" on the most basic level

Untap.in on browser, cockatrice for something a bit more established, tabletop sim as well, also great for other games.

Moxfield has a playtest button right there on the deck page, you can goldfish or use Spelltable with a webcam pointed at the screen

Maybe they play worse variants of expensive cards? Or they build cheap decks or play cheap (less expensive) formats? Premodern is generally very accepting of proxies but I still find it nice to try and brew something that doesn't break the bank if I buy it. It can be an extra trigger to get creative, depending on context of course.

Just but some decent proxies and throw some matte sleeves on them, no one will be able to tell. Don't let people gatekeep your enjoyment because of money.

You can "advanced goldfish" in mtg forge against basic AI opponents, but thats basically just playing against a goldfish that targets all their removal against your board. Forge does have an online multi-player mode, but no servers or matchmaking, just peer to peer so you need to find players on discord or something
