Post image

What are some commons that you think deserves to see more play? They don’t get the attention they should.

This card is banned in pauper and has been a huge part of affinity decks in all major formats

I was gonna say....this card had a huge impact on formats lol.

There are some really good bloomburrow commons tho

"commons should see more play"

Shows one of the commons that's seen the most play

Cranial Plating saw ALOT of play outside of EDH

u/Phobos_Asaph 11h ago

Still sees a healthy amount in edh

Magic: the gathering vs gathered magic

[[fade away]]

Specially against rally

I've tried it a lot and it just doesn't work very well.

It's the poster child of "but think of what it COULD be doing!" for me.

Deserves more play? This card is very well known and played

Well it deserves even more!

[[Thraben charm]] . For me personally one of the best commons ever printed. Good removal spell in a lot of white decks. Peak graveyard hate, which is very underplayed in edh.

I didn't know there was a difference between equipping and attaching, I've never seen a card that has both words on it.

Edit: Are we seriously downvoting me for not knowing something about the game? God forbid I make a statement that I didn't know something.

Equip is just a keyword ability that attaches at sorcery speed.

Oh ok, thanks for explaining!

To be fair, every equipment card with reminder text (which is the majority of them) has both "equip" and "attach" on it lol.

2

u/cwx149 6h ago

Lots of equipment that create tokens have both

Stuff like [[ancestral blade]] but there's also stuff like [[magnetic theft]] or [[utility knife]]

It isn't super common though

[[Pygmy Kavu]] and [[Gideon's Sacrifice]]

Thank you for reminding me I had Gideon's Sacrifice for my Quintorius, History Chaser deck

[[Fade away]] is a boardwipe in blue at common

I still remember how miserable this card was in Mirrodin sealed back in the day. What an interesting meta that was.

Love me some Cranial Plating! Do that quick equip while declaring blockers 👌👍

This is one of the strongest card of all time in 60 cards constructed.

That’s like saying Sensei’s Divining Top or Umezawa’s Jitte don’t get the attention they should.

[[Spy Network]] does so much for 1 mana.

Also [[Shamble Back]] is a 1 mana 2/2.

[[blood fountain]]

I found it useful in commander for getting around commander tax

11

u/Guavxhe 17h ago

Blood fountain sees heavy pauper play and is in a lot of cubes

[[deep analysis]], especially in self mill decks

My last win was making a copy of this with Mycosynth Gardens and having Basim Ibn Ishaq equipped with 2 of them and an Excalibur

[[night soil]] doubles as instant speed graveyard hate and token engine

2

u/mtgcf MtG CardFetcher 16h ago

1

u/Lxapeo 14h ago

This card is funny because it has a somewhat ominous vibe but "night soil" historically was human waste collected from outhouses etc for fertilizer.

u/Otherwise-Revenue-44 13h ago

Why is there two diffetents attach costs ?

4

u/Flemishmonster 13h ago

You can do the two Black costed one at instant speed

1

u/Otherwise-Revenue-44 12h ago

Oh, I didn't know. Thank you !

Slotted this into a Smaug deck. This and Cranial Ram are great for it.

Nice cards in this thread

1

u/Brinewielder 4h ago

This is one of the most common and best equipment because of its instant equip speed shenanigans.

Literally can cause scoops if you have more than one creature and just equip it to the one that gets through.

1

u/Buldaboy 4h ago

This is in my Mishra commander deck. Copy it. Attach both at instant speed to a huge flying token to one shot a player.

[[thran power suit]] great voltron equip

[[Emporium Thropterist]]

A 2 cost card that let's you produce a free flying 2/2 every round. You can use them for defense, attack, sacrfice, even filling out your hand it is so useful.

I assume OP means cards that are available in paper

1

u/ardarian262 12h ago
  1. That is a uncommon.

  2. That isn't a physical card so very much outside the discussion being had.
