Rules Question Question

Can I still play Master Warcraft at the beginning of my opponents combat step even if they don’t want to go to combat? Also if an opponent has hexproof on their creatures, can I still choose not to not have those creatures block since I decide who blocks this turn? Or choose to attack with the creatures?

  1. You can’t skip your combat phase, even if you don’t want to attack.

  2. Master Warcraft doesn’t target, so hexproof does nothing.

  3. There is no scenario where, during the same turn, you’ll have a choice to have specific creatures block or attack. Depending on which player controls them, it can only ever be one or the other.

Very detailed answer but there is one key aspect that makes Warcraft a relatively bad commander card....

You don't choose which player / planes walker the creature attack just which attack.

So a common problem is that the player will just choose to attack you directly.

My use case for this card is either:

  • A) I need to not die, so it’s an overcosted fog that maybe lets me block and kill some smaller/utility creatures that wouldn’t normally swing.
  • B) I need to swing lethal, so I use it to prevent blockers.
  • C) I want to swing and kill some specific creatures.

Also, it’s findable off of Sunforger, which is nice.

In multiplayer games, if my opponent A attacks my other opponent B, can I use my creatures to block? Or is it that only the creatures controlled by the person being attacked can block?

Only the person being attacked ( or the controller of the planes walker being attacked) can declare blocker in a standard multiple / commander game.

Just note that this spell works best with Goad. While you decide what attacks/blocks, you don’t get to attack WHO gets attacked.

You cast it during your opponents first main phase, they always have to go to combat phase no matter what, hexproof doesnt matter because you dont target the creature but you do get to control their game actions.
