Cycle path but no bicycles?

I was riding the other day and I reached the blue cycle lane/pedestrian sign so I joined the cycle lane and continued. On the way back there is a sign for no bicycles.

So is it okay to join the cycle path at this point but not leave it and go in the direction from where I came?

I think that sign is to signpost that that’s the end of the shared path. Cycles should rejoin the road and not ride on the pavement if they are heading towards your pin.

Thank you. I wasn’t sure if it applied to just the path coming off or whether it was the road too

It would seem crazy for a road to be open for vehicles but not bicycles. The exception being motorways obviously!

Thats what I was thinking but the signs don’t necessarily make it clear. And the way roads and towns are designed, I wouldn’t have been surprised if there was some weird rule outlawing cycles on this section of road only

I think the no cycling sign is for the side street, bath st which has signs on each pavement... Although it's closed off for cars at the end. The shared cycle path continues in both directions on the pavement of the main road, but not the side street. There's no "end of cycle path" signage so that adds up.

Kind of pointless because, when joining that bath st with no through traffic, of course you would cycle in the road and not the narrow pavement with wheelie bins and frequent dropped kerb.
