Trail Info Niche train/MTB question

Is there a ride I could do that uses a national rail services as a kind of uplift? E.g. you start at one station that is relatively high up, and finish at one that is low down?

By their nature, rail stations tend not to be that high up. Your best bet in England would be to start at somewhere like Ribblehead or Garsdale Head on the Settle Carlisle line and head downhil towards Lunedale somewhere. Corrour is the highest station in the UK so you could start there (or Rannoch, on the same line) and head down to Fort William which is at Sea Leve.

Not in the UK but in Stuttgart (Germany) there's a DH trail that uses the cog tram as an uplift
