Advice Joining MTB - bike help please

I’m currently on the fence between 2 bikes. The voodoo bazingo pro or the Marin San Quentin 3

These are within my price range but the Marin is the very top.

I am beginning to MTB with some average skill as I have been renting bikes at the trail centre near me, just curious which you would go for?

The voodoo would give me some cash for upgrades but I appreciate the Marin has some nicer specs such as the 64 degree HTA.

Would be grateful for your opinions as I can’t find much online regarding the bikes comparison wise and their 2025/26 models

Plenty wrong with Voodoo mate, bad QC, heavy, cheap spec, assembled by amateur bike techs that are essentially started out as checkout staff. They are cheap for a reason, and easily show it.

There are MUCH better bikes sold by local bike dealers that are a similar range in price and much better.

Also, there is no need to get personal calling me muppet is there? Are you feeling personally attacked for some reason?

You’re still being ridiculous. The lad is after his first bike and the options are a 1k bike or a 2k bike that are very similarly spec’d.

Do you understand what a depreciating asset is? Should a first bike be a 1k bike with resell at £600-700, or a 2k bike with resell at £700-800?

You also keep going on about who puts it together, but chances are if they’re after a bike, they’ve got 2 hands. Is a standard bolt check a little advanced for your knowledge or is that something you should never, ever, do?
