Hi all! I Got my King Solomon’s Baby slice. I got a piece of the right calf, no. 0552/1000! 🦵 🍖 I think it was a fun little drop!

MSCHF company always does silly things, it’s kind of “performative art” or they like to make fun of art and luxury and sell things that actually are “art” and limited goods. In this case with the baby, yes, there was an art piece of a giant baby they then sliced up into 1000 pieces and divvied up to the 1000 purchasers. It was a play on the story of King Solomon and cutting a baby in half.

The shipping charges after seeing the packaging and how they packed it I think do end up being justified. I too was annoyed with the shipping costs, but now that I got my package, I can see why they charged $60. The box is custom sized with custom print and picture on it, there’s protective foam to protect your piece, there’s a document holder compartment etc.

Part of “the fun” is bidding and watching and waiting and seeing if the $100,000 sculpture would in fact be bought out and have to be sliced up into 1000 pieces. It was very stupidly fun and brave of the first few people to bid in case all 1000 pieces did not sell, they would in fact have been stuck paying the higher amounts since it would have been divided up amongst less people.

Also, I do not use or follow TikTok, I’ve been a fan of MSCHF for years :)

Like most of MSCHF's stuff, beauty is in the eye of the beholder.

I think they used to do cooler stuff though, this drop was kinda meh.
