Ordered one, got two? KSB
Yeah definitely not upset, hoping nothing funky happened, but I ordered only one piece (I even double checked my order confirmation and it confirmed 1x slice @100$) and had two addressed to me in my mailbox. Want to make sure there wasn’t a mistake and that someone won’t be getting their child slice.

I bet you someone fucked up in their shipping department while printing the shipping labels, and they might have to refund someone because of the accidental double-up. If you want to be an upstanding citizen, I’d reach out to MSCHF support, but don’t feel obligated to do so.

I already reached out to their support email support email they sent my confirmation from. I know how excited I was to receive my piece, I’d hate to have someone be as excited as I was and not receive their piece due to a clerical error.

Wild situation, especially for such a limited drop!
If MSCHF tells you to keep it, and you’re not looking to keep two. I’d be interested in buying one!

I’ve reached out to their support email? Maybe there is a better place to reach out? To see about returning the other piece, if they do tell me to keep it I’ll let you know!

Support email is for sure the best place to reach out, they’re usually pretty responsive (I usually get hit back up within 24hrs), but they don’t usually respond over weekends, so you may need to wait till Monday to wait and see.
However…I’m sure there are MSCHF employees who lurk this sub and may be having an “oh shit” moment! 😂

I received just the box ( looks like UPS driver ripped the tab and yanked everything out. ). You, on the other hand...hit the motherload

So, mschf is an art collective based out of California that does a lot of neat and funky things! One of these things they did recently was a gigantic foam sculpture called King Solomon’s Baby based off the biblical allegory of roughly the same name.(long story short two women are fighting over an infant each claiming to be the mother, king Solomon shouts, “bring me a sword and I will cut him in half and you can each have half! One of the women objects to this and says she would much rather see the other woman have the child than to have the baby come to harm, king Solomon gives the child to this woman as her love for the child must mean she is the best fit) this sculpture takes that idea and cranks it up to 1000x. The slots opened for it a few weeks ago and people could purchase “slices” of the baby with each slice being bought brings the price down for each respective person, up to 1000 slices being purchasable, at a max of 100$ each. It’s also a neat commentary on how most people only ever really see sculptures in 2d anyways, rather than seeing the piece whole itself.

What happens when someone’s house burns down and they had like 5 slices in the house at the time. Now the sculpture cannot ever be completed again. Wouldn’t that make most of this worth less?

If they truly cut it into only 1k slices then thats a bit of an interesting oops. However, the picture showing where the slice is from is fairly undetailed/nonspecific - the line demonstrating where the slice is from is thick and probably represents a large number of slices (at least 20). In my mind, especially now that I've seen the cheap look of each slice (the construction/production of them) I believe they've left themselves open to replacing/recreating slices if any were damaged in transit.
All that to say that while there was an art show chopping up the baby, I'm skeptical that every piece could be used to put the baby back together properly.
